TalkFEED — A month ago Irvette van Zyl won the Totalsports Women’s Race in Stellenbosch in a time of 32:50. It equalled Zola Budd’s personal best as the third fastest 10km performances by South African women on the road. Budd ran that time at the age of 17 in Bloemfontein in August 1983. That time still stands as the South African junior record. The only two women to run faster over that distance are former half-marathon world record holder Elana Meyer and Colleen de Reuck. This week on Run Talk SA we chat to Irvette about that fantastic run in the Western Cape as well as her recent victory at the Mandela Marathon in Pietermaritzburg. We also chat about the upcoming Cape Town Marathon and what she hopes to achieve as well as what it is like being married to South African track star LJ van Zyl and whether or not she has any Comrades Marathon aspirations. Also as mentioned in the podcast, be sure to register for our upcoming Comrades Marathon webinar.
