My plan was to explore how people respond to the call of God using the stories of Luke and Isaiah, suggesting that they are not as straightforward as we often read them. What are some other biblical stories about call that might give us hope – Jeremiah, Amos, Jonah? I also talk about how, when we ask “What are we called to?”, we often answer with "working for Christ". In Luke Peter is called to let go of everything he knows about fishing and to fish anyway. He becomes the means by which Jesus catches fish. We are called to join in work of Spirit of Risen Jesus bringing in reign of God.

Hello everyone welcome to Reaching Out Radio where we are reaching out to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ shring the message of the croos into the nations.   Tonight's message is taken from Isaiah 6:1-8 and is entitled, "Seeing Jesus" In the year King Uzziah died, the prophet Isaiah saw the Lord.  This  declaration was a prophetic description of our Messiah, the One to come. Before we can be of any valid use to the Master, we must first see Him for who He is.  At that point we will also get a better more realistic picture of who we are.  This knowledge of God and of ourselves is necessary before God can truly entrust us with his most valuable work...His people. May this be a tremendous blessing to all who listen, in Jesus' name I pray. Gratefully yours, sis. Pearl

In our relationship with God, there’s a razor’s edge of love & fear. You won’t love a God that you only fear. You won’t worship a God that you only love. But the Scriptures introduce us to a God who is both lovely and fearful, gracious and holy, savior and judge.

John explores the nature of our call in terms of who we are rather than what we are called to do, uses Brian McLaren’s thoughts on patterns and his thoughts on images to think about being called to be the image of God in this place at this time – what might that mean for us? And then he explores Te Tiriti in light of all that

I remember bringing our first child home from the hospital. I was terrified. Anne and I were loaded down with gifts and supplies. We signed some forms and were shuffled out the hospital doors. The only thing the nurse insisted we prove before we left was that we knew how to strap Micah into his car seat. Other than that, we were left to our own devices. Yes, we had the support of friends, family, and co-workers, but ultimately this was our responsibility, and I felt woefully under prepared. Micah just turned 13, he survived. In life we face intimidating circumstances and insurmountable situations. We find ourselves responsible for more than we can manage, and are terrified. The prophet Isaiah found himself confronted with the greatness of God and was tasked with confronting Israel with this revelation of God. He was convinced he was not up to the task, but God used him anyway. When you find yourself in the midst of something that seems beyond your capacity; you may find that God will use you anyway.
