Colossians 3:1-4If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. WEEK 4: HIS POWER IS PERFECTJoseph: In God's HandsBeholding the Perfect Sovereignty of GodTwo years passed in silence. But God hadn't paused. In Genesis 41, Pharaoh's disturbing dreams become the hinge point of Joseph's story—and God's perfect plan. From forgotten prisoner to second-in-command of Egypt, Joseph's life turns dramatically, not by luck, but by divine power. In this message, Pastor Craig reminds us that even in pain, God is never absent. He's preparing us, refining us, and positioning us for what's next. Joseph's rise from the dungeon to the palace is a vivid reminder that nothing is wasted—and God's timing is always perfect.Key Themes:God is at work even when we feel stuck.Pain becomes preparation in the hands of God.His Word still speaks clearly today—never contradicting itself. The “two-a-days” of life are part of the training ground for your calling.Scripture References:Genesis 41Romans 8:282 Corinthians 12:9Isaiah 55:8-9James 1:2-4If you're in a hard season, this message is for you. Today's Passage: Colossians 3: 1-4If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.Today's Prayer: Father for some reason you've called us into a relationship with You.You want us to be with You, where You are, and about what You are about.Your eternal decree is too marvelous to comprehend.Yet, you've also placed us at Your table to be not only servants but also friends. Here, we are protected and fully alive.Help us today to reflect on the things you are about.Your word says in Philippians 4:8 to think on eight things: whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and anything worthy of praise.Lord, as we are not guaranteed tomorrow, will you help us today to hide in the shadow of Your wings—free to be with You and about Your Kingdom.NOTES & LINKS:Information about the Women's Summer StudyInformation about the Men's Summer StudyReach out to the Center for Spiritual Formation

Big Idea: Let others take all they can today; we embrace eternal ethics!1 Corinthians 6:1-11I. Judge here like you're preparing for Heaven.1 Corinthians 6:1-4If any of you has a dispute against another, how dare you take it to court before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? Or don't you know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the trivial cases? Don't you know that we will judge angels—how much more matters of this life? So if you have such matters, do you appoint as your judges those who have no standing in the church? I say this to your shame!II. It's better to be wronged than to do wrong.1 Corinthians 6:5-8Can it be that there is not one wise person among you who is able to arbitrate between fellow believers? Instead, brother goes to court against brother, and that before unbelievers! As it is, to have legal disputes against one another is already a defeat for you. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? Instead, you yourselves do wrong and cheat—and you do this to brothers and sisters! As it is, to have legal disputes against one another is already a defeat for you. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? Instead, you yourselves do wrong and cheat—and you do this to brothers and sisters!III. Live as someone with a past, not controlled by it.1 Corinthians 6:9-11Don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God's kingdom? Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, or males who have sex with males, no thieves, greedy people, drunkards, verbally abusive people, or swindlers will inherit God's kingdom. And some of you used to be like this. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.Next Steps: Believe: I need Jesus to free me from my past today.Become: I will not let my past sins control me this week. Be Sent: I will explain to someone how Jesus has changed me. Discussion Questions: How did you focus on eternity this week? How can you prepare yourself to judge the world and angels this week?Did you give up some temporary pleasure this week because it dishonored God? If so, explain. How do you respond when someone in the faith wrongs you? What about someone outside the faith? Are you embarrassed by your past, or do you embrace how Jesus has rescued you from it? How will you live for eternity tomorrow?Ask God to help you share how Jesus saved you this week.

King Solomon had immense wealth, but he taught his son that some things are more important than money. We would do well to follow that same advice and teach it to our sons. Whether it be in Solomon's day or our own, some people will do anything for money. But not us and not the boys we are raising to be godly men! Did you know you can choose to rejoice?Sounds strange, doesn't it? But "rejoice always" is a command of Scripture, and like all commands, we can choose to do it whether we feel like it or not. Don't miss this point; it really is important. Our feelings are real, but we are not to be governed by them, nor are we at their mercy. Rather, we can acknowledge our feelings, evaluate them in light of Scriptural commands, and then choose a path of action . Is Donald Trump Really The Anti-Christ That Is Mentioned In 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4If you say yes, then you should ask yourself these ask questions. Is Donald Trump seeking to be worshipped in replacementment of God meaning that he would want you to worship him as God and denounce the One True God of Holy Scriptures.I will now read 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 (KJV)Verse 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;Verse 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.Can you honestly say with a straight face that this is referring to Trump? Also, you must believe that he is going to desecrate the newly built Temple which has not even been built yet?Revelation 13:6 KJV Verse 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. Can you honestly say President Trump is currently doing this, and if he isn't why would you be calling him the Anti-Christ?In addition, you must believe that he will implement the mark of the beast and put to death genuine believers and followers of Christ by beheading or executing them (I will now read Revelation 13: 16-17 KJV, and Revelation 13:7-8 KJV)Revelation 13:16-17 KJVVerse 16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:Verse 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.Revelation 13:7-8 (KJV)Verse 7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.Verse 8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. If Donald Trump doesn't meet the criteria of the Scriptures that I previously mentioned, it disappointing and dishonest that some people, even believers, are labeling him as the Anti-Christ, mentioned in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 (KJV).Also, as believers we should be praying for our leaders including President Trump, and most importantly that He genuinely receives Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior because religion cannot save anyone only Jesus Christ can.#antichrist #presidentdonaldtrump #markofthebeast #endtimes #bibleprophecy --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/biblequestionsandanswers/support

Ecclesiastes 9:13-11:8 13 I also saw under the sun this example of wisdom that greatly impressed me: 14 There was once a small city with only a few people in it. And a powerful king came against it, surrounded it and built huge siege works against it. 15 Now there lived in that city a man poor but wise, and he saved the city by his wisdom. But nobody remembered that poor man. 16 So I said, Wisdom is better than strength. But the poor mans wisdom is despised, and his words are no longer heeded. 17The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools.18Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good. 10:1 As dead flies give perfume a bad smell, so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor.2The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left.3Even as fools walk along the road, they lack sense and show everyone how stupid they are.4If a rulers anger rises against you, do not leave your post; calmness can lay great offenses to rest. 5There is an evil I have seen under the sun, the sort of error that arises from a ruler:6Fools are put in many high positions, while the rich occupy the low ones.7I have seen slaves on horseback, while princes go on foot like slaves. 8Whoever digs a pit may fall into it; whoever breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake.9Whoever quarries stones may be injured by them; whoever splits logs may be endangered by them. 10If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed, but skill will bring success. 11If a snake bites before it is charmed, the charmer receives no fee. 12Words from the mouth of the wise are gracious, but fools are consumed by their own lips.13At the beginning their words are folly; at the end they are wicked madness14 and fools multiply words. No one knows what is coming who can tell someone else what will happen after them? 15The toil of fools wearies them; they do not know the way to town. 16Woe to the land whose king was a servant and whose princes feast in the morning.17Blessed is the land whose king is of noble birth and whose princes eat at a proper time for strength and not for drunkenness. 18Through laziness, the rafters sag; because of idle hands, the house leaks. 19A feast is made for laughter, wine makes life merry, and money is the answer for everything. 20Do not revile the king even in your thoughts, or curse the rich in your bedroom, because a bird in the sky may carry your words, and a bird on the wing may report what you say.Invest in Many Ventures 11:1 Ship your grain across the sea; after many days you may receive a return.2Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight; you do not know what disaster may come upon the land. 3If clouds are full of water, they pour rain on the earth.Whether a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where it falls, there it will lie.4Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap. 5As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mothers womb,so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things. 6Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well.Remember Your Creator While Young 7Light is sweet, and it pleases the eyes to see the sun.8However many years anyone may live, let them enjoy them all.But let them remember the days of darkness, for there will be many. The Lausanne movement is a network of Christians that is mobilizing to fulfill the great commission. The fourth Lausanne conference just happened in Seoul, Korea a few weeks ago. Last Thursday, October 10, I was inaugurated as the ninth president of Wesley Biblical Seminary. In addition to pledging to uphold the theological and missional distinctives of WBS, I gave an inaugural address. Today's podcast is my speech from that event. At these events, it is customary for there to be a charge from an esteemed colleague. I was glad that the inauguration committee selected Dr. Tim Tennent to provide a charge to me. Tim's words were moving to me, and I thought it would be fitting to include his charge here.Youtube - https://youtu.be/6Xydqug5P1IAudio - https://andymilleriii.com/media/podcastApple - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/more-to-the-story-with-dr-andy-miller/id1569988895?uo=4If you are interested in learning more about my two video-accompanied courses, Contender: Going Deeper in the Book of Jude andHeaven and Other Destinations: A Biblical Journey Beyond this World , visit courses.andymilleriii.comAnd don't forget about my most recent book, Contender, which is available on Amazon! In this podcast, Matt O'Reilly and I talk about his new book Free to Be Holy (Seedbed) which lays the biblical foundation for this doctrine of sanctification. A "Good Person"?A SERMON BASED ON Romans 9:30-10:4If we are looking for a good person, we've found one. No, she's not living under our roof, he's not staring back at you in the mirror. We find one “good person” in our life: Jesus. It is Jesus who knows what perfect obedience is. It is Jesus who knows what perfect love is. Jesus is the only “good person” we know. But he doesn't keep it to himself. He gives his goodness to us so that we can share in the Father's favor. This is how we begin our lives of obedience.

John 15:18-20 & 23, 16:1-4If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also… Whoever hates me hates my Father as well... All this I have told you so that you will not fall away. They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God. They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. I have told you this, so that when their time comes you will remember that I warned you about them.

We might not be able to pinpoint the exact date of Jesus's birth, but we do know this: God could not have chosen a better time. This was the exact right time for Jesus to be born. The most interesting thing to me is that God always knew exactly WHEN Jesus would be born. In Jesus' birth, God fulfilled not just one but more than 300 prophecies. The WHEN of the Christmas story reminds us that God's timing is always perfect. Though it might not always feel that way, we can trust that God is working all things together for good. Even untimely or challenging situations can lead to blessings if we cooperate with God. God's timing is always perfect. He is never too early, and He's never late. It doesn't always feel that way, but it's true. Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost The Collect: Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we to pray, and to give more than we either desire or deserve: Pour upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things for which we are not worthy to ask, except through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ our Savior; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. Old Testament: Exodus 20:1-4, 7-9, 12-20 1Then God spoke all these words: 2I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery;3you shall have no other gods before me. 4You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 7You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not acquit anyone who misuses his name. 8Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy. 9Six days you shall labor and do all your work. 12Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. 13You shall not murder.14You shall not commit adultery. 15You shall not steal. 16You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. 17You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or male or female slave, or ox, or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor. 18When all the people witnessed the thunder and lightning, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking, they were afraid and trembled and stood at a distance, 19and said to Moses, “You speak to us, and we will listen; but do not let God speak to us, or we will die.” 20Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid; for God has come only to test you and to put the fear of him upon you so that you do not sin.” Psalm: Psalm 19 1 The heavens declare the glory of God, * and the firmament shows his handiwork. 2 One day tells its tale to another, * and one night imparts knowledge to another. 3 Although they have no words or language, * and their voices are not heard, 4 Their sound has gone out into all lands, * and their message to the ends of the world. 5 In the deep has he set a pavilion for the sun; * it comes forth like a bridegroom out of his chamber; it rejoices like a champion to run its course. 6 It goes forth from the uttermost edge of the heavens and runs about to the end of it again; * nothing is hidden from its burning heat. 7 The law of the Lord is perfect and revives the soul; * the testimony of the Lord is sure and gives wisdom to the innocent. 8 The statutes of the Lord are just and rejoice the heart; * the commandment of the Lord is clear and gives light to the eyes. 9 The fear of the Lord is clean and endures for ever; * the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, more than much fine gold, * sweeter far than honey, than honey in the comb. 11 By them also is your servant enlightened, * and in keeping them there is great reward. 12 Who can tell how often he offends? * cleanse me from my secret faults. 13 Above all, keep your servant from presumptuous sins; let them not get dominion over me; * then shall I be whole and sound, and innocent of a great offense. 14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, * O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. Old Testament: Isaiah 5:1-7 1Let me sing for my beloved my love-song concerning his vineyard: My beloved had a vineyard on a very fertile hill. 2He dug it and cleared it of stones, and planted it with choice vines; he built a watchtower in the midst of it, and hewed out a wine vat in it; he expected it to yield grapes, but it yielded wild grapes. 3And now, inhabitants of Jerusalem and people of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard. 4What more was there to do for my vineyard that I have not done in it? When I expected it to yield grapes, why did it yield wild grapes? 5And now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard. I will remove its hedge, and it shall be devoured; I will break down its wall, and it shall be trampled down. 6I will make it a waste; it shall not be pruned or hoed, and it shall be overgrown with briers and thorns; I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it. 7For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the people of Judah are his pleasant planting; he expected justice, but saw bloodshed; righteousness, but heard a cry! Psalm: Psalm 80:7-14 7 Restore us, O God of hosts; * show the light of your countenance, and we shall be saved. 8 You have brought a vine out of Egypt; * you cast out the nations and planted it. 9 You prepared the ground for it; * it took root and filled the land. 10 The mountains were covered by its shadow * and the towering cedar trees by its boughs. 11 You stretched out its tendrils to the Sea * and its branches to the River. 12 Why have you broken down its wall, * so that all who pass by pluck off its grapes? 13 The wild boar of the forest has ravaged it, * and the beasts of the field have grazed upon it. 14 Turn now, O God of hosts, look down from heaven; behold and tend this vine; * preserve what your right hand has planted. Epistle: Philippians 3:4b-14 4If anyone else has reason to be confident in the flesh, I have more: 5circumcised on the eighth day, a member of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew born of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; 6as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless. 7Yet whatever gains I had, these I have come to regard as loss because of Christ. 8More than that, I regard everything as loss because of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and I regard them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but one that comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God based on faith. 10I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings by becoming like him in his death, 11if somehow I may attain the resurrection from the dead. 12Not that I have already obtained this or have already reached the goal; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. 13Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus. Gospel: Matthew 21:33-46 33“Listen to another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug a wine press in it, and built a watchtower. Then he leased it to tenants and went to another country.34When the harvest time had come, he sent his slaves to the tenants to collect his produce. 35But the tenants seized his slaves and beat one, killed another, and stoned another. 36Again he sent other slaves, more than the first; and they treated them in the same way. 37Finally he sent his son to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.' 38But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, ‘This is the heir; come, let us kill him and get his inheritance.” 39So they seized him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. 40Now when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?” 41They said to him, “He will put those wretches to a miserable death, and lease the vineyard to other tenants who will give him the produce at the harvest time.” 42Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the scriptures: ‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord's doing, and it is amazing in our eyes'? 43Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that produces the fruits of the kingdom. 44The one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and it will crush anyone on whom it falls.” 45When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they realized that he was speaking about them. 46They wanted to arrest him, but they feared the crowds, because they regarded him as a prophet.
Sign-up for my free 20-day devotional, The Word Before Work Foundations, at http://TWBWFoundations.com--Series: 4 Biblical Ways to Escape the Comparison TrapDevotional: 1 of 4If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else. (Galatians 6:3-4)Today is my 37th birthday. I don't know about you, but for me, birthdays are the perfect trigger for falling into the comparison trap. Because birthdays offer us a “scorecard” of sorts—especially in a world that is obsessed with success at an early age. If we've made more money than our peers or parents have by a certain age, we can feel proud and arrogant. Conversely, if we have failed to sell a company, reach the C-Suite, or achieve some other goal before someone else, we can feel jealous and bitter like we're “falling behind” and “life is passing us by.”How can you wage war against these feelings? How do I plan to escape the comparison trap today? By confessing and repenting of my pride. Because as Paul makes clear in Galatians 6:3-4, pride is the root of all comparison.Save Paul, nobody has articulated this better than C.S. Lewis who said in Mere Christianity: “We say that people are proud of being rich, or clever, or good-looking, but they are not. They are proud of being richer, or cleverer, or better-looking than others. If everyone else became equally rich, or clever, or good-looking there would be nothing to be proud about. It is the comparison that makes you proud: the pleasure of being above the rest. Once the element of competition has gone, pride has gone.”It's easy to see how pride is the root of comparison that leads us to feel superior to others, but it is also the root of us feeling inferior to others. If I feel jealous that someone has accomplished more than I have by a certain age, that is ultimately rooted in a feeling that I deserve the good gifts God has given them, but not me. And that is pride. So, if you find yourself falling into the comparison trap today, start your escape here: Confess your pride to the Lord in prayer and ask for his power to “take pride in yourself alone, without comparing yourself to someone else.”
This week I discussed a Feb 2023 study comparing a normal diet vs. a low carb diet on total serum testosterone and improving erectile function in hypogonadal men with metabolic syndrome. Testosterone deficiency, also called hypogonadism, is a prevalent condition, affecting around 5 million American men. Eighteen men were evaluated over 3 months. Mean age was 59.8 and 57 years in the control and low-carbohydrate groups, respectively. The participants all had metabolic syndrome and subnormal testosterone levels. The control group was instructed to continue eating normally but received guidance about healthy eating patterns. The low-carbohydrate group was instructed by a nutritionist, to reduce carbohydrate intake and increase protein and fat intake. Their diet could not contain more than 25–30% carbohydrates per day, aiming for 20–30 g carbohydrates per day. The two diets have the same amount of calories. The results: The study demonstrated that a low-carbohydrate diet could reduce weight, systolic blood pressure and abdominal circumference. Furthermore, a period of three months on this diet also raised serum levels of total and calculated free testosterone which could improve erectile function. However, larger studies should be done to demonstrate the potential effect of a low-carbohydrate diet on serum testosterone level and erectile function in hypogonadal men with metabolic syndrome.Source:https://bmcendocrdisord.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12902-023-01278-6Table of Results:https://bmcendocrdisord.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12902-023-01278-6/tables/4If you love the Get Lean Eat Clean Podcast, we'd love for you to subscribe, rate, and give a review on Apple Podcasts and Spotify! Latte and Laundry: A home for Catholic women, moms, and hearts
We can often find ourselves relating to Psalm 102:2 "Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress. Incline your ear to me; answer me speedily in the day when I call"We can feel utterly alone and abandoned by God when we suffer, struggle, and hurt. We can feel as though he has turned away from us, leaving us to drown in the raging seas. Yet, it is precisely in these times that the King of the world draws closer than ever. "Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will SUSTAIN you. I have made you and I will CARRY you; I will sustain you and I will RESCUE you. " Isaiah 46:4If this episode blessed you, I would be so honored if you shared it with a friend, rated it, or left us a review! I always love to connect :suzanne @latteandlaundry.com
