This week the Sad Bois discuss the recent rumors around the Chicago Fire becoming Manchester United's retirement home, the Chicago Red Stars' trade for Kealia Ohai, and what Kennedy Igboananike's been up to.
It is Tuesday, it is expansion draft day, and it is Filibuster day! Jason, Ben, and Adam start off the show by talking about the Richmond Kickers' new stadium deal before getting to MLS Cup and specifically how it wasn't nearly as bad a game as people have been saying it was. We talk about the game itself and how Tosaint Ricketts completely changed it when he came on. We give cake or death to the last few players on D.C. United's roster, including Marcelo Sarvas, Rob Vincent, and Travis Worra, before going into the expansion draft. We talk about the trades of Miguel Aguilar and Kennedy Igboananike, and what they meant for the 11 players that D.C. United was able to protect from Atlanta United and Minnesota United. Finally, we talk about the expansion draft writ large and who those two interlopers United might do. Give it a listen!
We have a super-sized episode of Filibuster for your Thanksgiving commutes, and that is our gift to you. We start the episode off with Jason's misery about Maryland in the College Cup. We then dive straight into the news of Jurgen Klinsmann's firing, which happened mere hours before we sat down to record. We all give our answers as to whether or not he should have been fired, talk about Sunil Gulati's responsibility in all of this, and talk about the probably hiring of Bruce Arena and ask what will he do with the upcoming Camp Cupcake. We then move into the second segment with D.C. United news, including the great joy of Luciano Acosta's re-signing. We then get into Goat or Fox, with Kennedy Igboananike, Jared Jeffrey, Alhaji Kamara, Taylor Kemp, and Chris Korb on the docket for this episode. We also ask how Klinsmann's firing might affect the national team call-ups of D.C. United players. Finally, we get into tonight's MLS Cup playoffs, previewing the all-Canadian Eastern Conference final between Toronto FC and Montreal Impact as well as the Western Conference final between the Seattle Sounders and the Colorado Rapids. Give it a listen!
D.C. United is hosting a game at RFK Stadium in the MLS Cup playoffs, and Filibuster is here to talk about it! First, though, Adam, Jason, and Ben talk about the D.C. United stadium and the potential problem that seems to have been avoided with their Zoning Commission hearing. After that, we move on to United's 4-2 loss to Orlando City SC in the last game of the season and start by talking about the players that Ben Olsen chose to run out for this game. We talk about Travis Worra's performance and whether or not D.C. United could have actually found a victory at any point during that game. Finally, we have some praise for Julian Buescher and wonder whether or not Kennedy Igboananike will be back next season. We then talk about D.C. United's home playoff game this Thursday against the Montreal Impact. we talk about how they will be likely without Didier Drogba and how that affects their team, as well is their multiple bouts of streakiness this season. Finally, we mention Nacho Piatti, Dom Odoro, and how Montreal will attack United and how United can beat the Impact. Give it a listen!
The Filibuster team is united once again, and Jason, Adam, and Ben are here to talk about D.C. United's 2-2 draw with the Philadelphia Union. We talk about whether or not this is the turning point of the season, and have to keep talking about how the finishing needs to improve and how United is shot shy. We talk about how the game changed with the subs of Julian Buescher, Lamar Neagle, and Kennedy Igboananike, which also was around the same time Ben Olsen got sent off. Finally, we talk about Rob Vincent as a defensive midfielder and what we want to see against Portland. To help us preview the game against Portland Timbers, we bring on FourFourTwo USA's Richard Farley. We ask him about Portland's win over Sporting Kansas City and Porterball versus Bennyball. We have to talk about how Portland is yet to win a road game this year, and how they will try and win their first without Diego Chara. We talk about their new defenders, including Vytas, as well as the new forward line pairing of Jack McInerney and Fanendo Adi. Diego Valeri has been playing wide recently, so we have to dig into that, as well as who replaces Alvas Powell and the question of Adam Kwarasey versus Jake Gleeson. We then move into a bigger discussion of D.C. United and the whole Eastern Conference versus the Western Conference, before coming back around to ask how Portland would gameplan D.C. United. Give it a listen!

Filibuster is back on a Tuesday morning, and we're both happy (about soccer) and sad (about Prince). We start (7:30) by talking about D.C. United's 3-0 win over the New England Revolution, and we have to mention the Luciano Acosta goal. We talk about how Fabian Espindola got himself injured by shooting as well as the improved play of Bobby Boswell and the back four. We end by talking about the buildup to Lamar Neagle's penalty kick goal (and how nice it was to have a well taken penalty) and talk about Alvaro Saborio's goal and whether it should have counted. In the second segment we welcome back Sean Spence from Hot Time in Old Time to talk about D.C. United's upcoming trip to Chicago. We talk about the Fire's offensive woes so far and whether or not they are explicitly playing defense first. We compare Veljko Paunovic to Frank Yallop, and ask Sean about Paunovic's benching of Sean Johnson. We inquire about the state of a number of players, including Razvan Cocis, Kennedy Igboananike, and Gilberto (with a sad interlude about Harry Shipp), before ending by asking Sean how much he misses Chris Rolfe and Patrick Nyarko. Give it a listen!
If you watched the College Cup, you probably wondered about the quality of soccer being played and the bus Virginia parked in front of their own goal. If you didn't watch, you probably heard all about it on Twitter. So what's more important? Winning ugly or at least trying to play? Meanwhile, another trophy was lifted in Liga MX, Frank Lampard's NYCFC fate got murkier, Steven Gerrard was linked with the Red Bulls and Brek Shea seems to be on his way to Orlando. Oh, and what do we make of this? The Fire aren't just being linked with Designated Players, they're signing them. Kennedy Igboananike is already in the bag, and there might be a Ghanaian striker on the way as well. No matter how you twist it, Frank Yallop is making moves. He gives the guys the lowdown on everything going down in the Windy City, plus elaborates on Harry Shipp's future. In the mailbag, Simon keeps making excuses about the ScoreBorg, the guys wonder which MLSers would make the best managers, the Revs empty forward stable is addressed and David hints at a life-changing holiday season.
