In this episode, Lisa and Stephen discuss:How to turn a passion for sports into a career off the fieldBuilding connections that open doors and gain experiences through sports internshipsWhat roles are in high demand in the sports and entertainment ecosystemBalancing passion, education, and hustleKey Takeaways: Careers in sports extend far past the playing field, including roles in marketing, analytics, media, and sponsorships. Exploring these options early helps uncover where passion and talent meet.Networking remains the most powerful tool in the sports industry. Relationships, mentorships, and proactive outreach often lead to opportunities more effectively than cold applications.Real-world exposure sharpens direction and builds credibility. Internships in high school or college, whether loved or disliked, shape clearer career decisions later on.A well-rounded education supports success, but determination and experience matter most. Aligning values with career goals ensures long-term fulfillment in this dynamic field. There are more entry points at agencies working on brand partnerships, sponsorships, and influencer deals than at leagues and teams. “The three most important words in sports: Relationships. Relationships. Relationships.” – Stephen MasterAbout Stephen Master: Professor Stephen Master has over 25 years of leadership experience in sports marketing and media.

Episode Overview In this episode of The Design Vault, hosts Albert Shum and Thamer Abanami are joined by legendary producer Dan the Automator Nakamura (Gorillaz, Deltron 3030, Dr. Octagon) to explore the Technics SL-1200 MK2 — the direct drive DJ turntable that evolved from an audiophile product into a central instrument for hip hop, house, and techno DJs and producers. From Konosuke Matsushita's long-term “250-year philosophy” to Grand Wizard Theodore's scratching breakthrough, this is the story of how Japanese engineering precision met street creativity to create one of the most influential musical instruments of the late 20th century. Dan shares personal stories of witnessing a young Qbert and Mix Master Mike before fame, why the 1200 is often called the “Porsche 911 of turntables,” and how the constraints of early sampling technology shaped hip hop's signature sound. On this episode of Best of the Bus, The Boys sat down with the boy, Michael Chandler, after his WILD fight against Charles Oliveira. Since the fight was only two days earlier, Mike’s body wasn’t feeling the best. He started off the pod by listing out all the things that hurt. This was Mike’s first time back in the Octagon in over two years, so he dove into what it felt like to return and all the emotions he went through. The Boys then broke down each round of the fight, and Mike pointed out some things he wished he would’ve done differently. Overall, if you watched the fight, you knew how absolutely electric it was, and being able to hear it firsthand from Mike was pretty cool. Hope y’all enjoy.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
