1:40 -Reflections on Sports Psychology and Personal MemoriesSimon Moore emphasizes the growing recognition of psychology's importance in sports, noting its benefits for both players and staff. Michael Wright engages Simon with a series of questions about his childhood sports experiences, prompting Simon to reflect on his early admiration for Mick Shannon, a footballer who inspired him as a young Manchester City fan.5:45 Reflections on Historical FascinationsSimon Moore discusses his early interest in Alexander the Great and how it led him to consider studying ancient history. Although he did not pursue that path, his fascination with historical figures continued into adulthood. Michael Wright adds that he is more interested in modern history, while his wife is captivated by the Tudors, highlighting the diverse historical interests people can have.8:06- Memorable Sports Moments and Team PrinciplesMichael Wright prompts Simon Moore to share standout moments in sports, leading Simon to mention the playoff final against Wigan and his admiration for Klinsmann's playing style at Spurs. Simon describes Klinsmann's exceptional positioning and foresight on the field, which left a lasting impression on him. Michael adds a humorous note about Paul Dickoff's obscure quiz trivia related to his career.12:00 -Understanding Psychology in Sports and Corporate SettingsSimon Moore emphasizes the role of enjoyment in sports, citing examples from interviews with players like Schmeichel. He outlines his extensive background in psychology, including his work with animals and his current focus on helping sports teams and businesses understand audience needs and team dynamics, particularly in relation to motivation and communication..19:10 -Understanding Decision-Making in Sports and BusinessSimon Moore elaborates on how human decision-making is often driven by emotional responses rather than logical reasoning. He categorizes individuals as either risk-tolerant or risk-averse, highlighting how these characteristics influence their engagement in training and performance. Moore emphasizes the importance of tailoring communication to meet the needs of both types of individuals for better outcomes.33:25 -Navigating Change and Ego in Team DynamicsMichael Wright and Simon Moore explore the psychological barriers to change within teams, particularly the clash between long-standing members and newcomers. Simon points out that both sides often operate from a place of ego, leading to resistance and conflict. They suggest that exposure to new ideas and collaborative problem-solving can help bridge the gap and foster mutual respect.39:33 -Team Dynamics and Performance Feedback in Sports AcademiesSimon Moore expresses concerns about the time and effort required to adopt new practices in sports academies, highlighting the difficulty of juggling multiple responsibilities. He notes that effective team dynamics, characterized by clear communication and a united front, are crucial for building trust and confidence among players. Michael Wright questions whether high-performing environments are more dependent on challenging interactions or harmonious clarity of purpose. Hosted on Acast.

The Morning Footy crew discuss some of the greatest soccer scandals of all-time coming off what is happening in regard to Canada soccer and drone-gate. First, a look at referee corruption in Serie A which saw Juventus take the brunt of it despite several teams being involved. Next, the "Hand of God," which saw Maradona use his hand to famously score a goal and ultimately win Argentina a World Cup. Next, a chat about Jürgen Klinsmann's dive in the 1990 World Cup which lead to West Germany ultimately winning the trophy that year and started the "diving" that is now rampant in football today. Then, a discussion about "The Disgrace of Gijón," where West Germany and Austria played to a specific result so that both could advance to the next round. And finally, El Maracanazo. It was an incident that happened during the football match between Brazil and Chile at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on 3 September 1989, in which Chilean goalkeeper Roberto Rojas pretended to be injured by a flare thrown by Brazilian fans. The incident is considered by historians and football experts as one of the most shameful events in world football. The Sports Experience Podcast with Chris Quinn and Dominic DiTolla
Does this work good for an episode write up this week: Episode 260 of “The Sports Experience Podcast” is here & we're back on the pitch discussing Jürgen Klinsmann. One of the world's best Strikers, Klinsmann starred for a number of Europe's best professional teams during the 1980s & 1990s. Internationally, Klinsmann helped West Germany win the 1990 World Cup and helped a unified Germany win the 1996 Euros. Though his career as a national team manager with the United States and South Korea left much to be desired, Klinsmann did help Germany finish third at the 2006 World Cup. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-sports-experience-pod/support

Kane, Gascoigne, Greaves, Klinsmann, Modric, Bale, Mackay, Waddle, Ardiles, Son, Lineker, Sheringham. Tottenham have had some great players down the years but who would be in your top 5? That's the question Jeff Stelling asks Spurs legend Glenn Hoddle in this week's episode of the pod. Which forward glided across the pitch? Who played football like it was a chess match? Which legend was partly responsible for Glenn being picked up by the club? Glenn also explains why he thinks Harry Kane finds playing in Germany easier than the Premier League and why he may not have named Alan Shearer as his club captain despite him being his England skipper. Total Soccer Show: USMNT, EPL, MLS, Champions League and more ...
On this week's Big Thing episode, we revisit an old friend: Jurgen Klinsmann. With his South Korea side now eliminated from the 2023 Asian Cup, we look back on the team's performance at the tournament itself, how things have progressed (or not progressed) with Klinsmann in charge, and what's likely to happen next as the country's Golden Generation misses a chance for silverware. Were South Korea fortunate to even make it as far as the semi-finals? Were there signs of disgruntlement with Klinsmann before the tournament? How similar are the current complaints against Klinsmann to those when he was in charge of the USMNT? Oh, and also, who will win the Asian Cup final this weekend? Those questions and more, answered for you... while Taylor tries not to go off on a rant on multiple occasions. --- Today's show is brought to you by... Philo!
