American mass murderer on death row

It was almost exactly 10 years ago that the Portland Timbers visited Starfire Stadium for what would ultimately be known as the Red Card Wedding. With the Timbers returning to Starfire on Tuesday, now seems like a good time to re-release this episode that was first recorded in 2017.Back then, Jeremiah teamed up with former SB Nation colleague Richard Farley and Soccer Made in PDX's Chris Rifer to record and produce this episode. It features such notable voices as Brad Evans, Lamar Neagle, Andy Rose, Ross Fletcher, Caleb Porter, Jack Jewsbury and Nat Borchers as well as Jeff Hosking, who was an assistant ref in the game. For the uninitiated, this was among the more surreal games in Sounders history. It most famous featured Clint Dempsey getting ejected and literally ripping up the referee's notebook, but it also featured two other red cards (which combined with Obafemi Martins' injury forced the Sounders to finish the game with seven players).Even before that, the match was shaping up as a classic with two heated rivals trading blows in a match that went to overtime. You'll definitely want to give it a listen.***Nos Audietis is the flagship podcast for Sounder at Heart, which became a reader-supported website on Aug. 21. In April 1984, 35-year-old Richard Farley met 22-year-old Laura Black. Farley described himself as immediately smitten and later said that he instantly "fell in love" with Black. Farley began leaving gifts, including letters and homemade baked goods, on Laura Black's desk and asked her out numerous times. Black repeatedly refused the invitations and later said in an interview that she "tried really to ignore him but to be cordial".Richard Farley went downhill from there and the end result is heart wrenching and angering. So many people could have decisions along the way that could have prevented the tragedy that eventually occured. This is part 2 of a 2 part series.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/murder-mischief-moscato--5466986/support.

A man falls instantly in love with a woman who does not reciprocate. He pursues her endlessly, confident in his ability to win her round. Sounds like a RomCom?He is a stalker, over three years he torments her, telephone calls, letters, unwanted gifts. He claims he intended to shoot himself in front of her if she refused him one last time.He failed to follow through with his threat, but seven other people died....This week we discuss: Murder, serial killer, Stalking, Erotomania, Spree KillingSources:https://caselaw.findlaw.com/court/ca-supreme-court/1295931.htmlhttps://www.upi.com/Archives/1988/07/14/Richard-Farley-accused-of-murdering-seven-people-while-shooting/8775584856000/https://murderpedia.org/male.F/f/farley-richard.htmhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunnyvale_ESL_shootinghttps://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/death-penalty-appeal-denied-in-tech-company-killings/1853421/https://www.usdeadlyevents.com/1988-feb-16-richard-wade-farley-workplace-shootings-esl-inc-sunnyvale-ca-7/https://www.inmateaid.com/inmate-profiles/farley-whttps://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/INSIDE-DEATH-ROW-At-San-Quentin-647-condemned-2594023.phpSupport the Show.Patreon https://www.patreon.com/MMoMEmail: murdermeonmondaypodcast@gmail.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/MMonMonday Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/murdermeonmondaypodcast/ Theme Tune is published under license from: Tribe of Noise – Awkward Mystery https://prosearch.tribeofnoise.com/artists/show/29267/32277

When Laura Black landed her dream job in Silicon Valley, she had no idea that she would become the object of a co-worker's obsessive desires. Everywhere she went, Richard Farley seemed to be there. Everything she did, Richard Farley was watching. Finally, the sustained stalking episode culminated in a violent showdown that became one of California's most notorious mass murders. Thanks for listening! Richard Farley had a dark obsession with a younger woman. The only problem was Laura Black didn't feel the same. The subtle gifts, phone calls and letters morphed into full on stalking. And when Laura had finally had enough, things got deadly. Join us as we discuss Richard Farley.

It is not hyperbole to observe that Wednesday's game is quite possibly the biggest in Sounders history. In order to mark the occasion, we're joined by longtime friend of the show Richard Farley. Richard Farley suddenly has a lot of free time so he and Jeremiah decided to record a podcast about something they were discussing on Twitter. Effectively they argue that the fortunes of the USMNT are largely divorced from the long arc of American soccer at large. It's an interesting discussion that goes in several directions. We're also really curious what you think of it. Do you want more stuff like this?

Time has lost all meaning so it's perfectly understandable that you might have missed that this was supposed to be the week that the Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers met for the first time this year. You may have even noticed that the two teams' websites have been doing all sorts of content about it, including an oral history of their first-ever meeting of the all-MLS era. We figured that was a reasonably good excuse to invite our good friend Richard Farley back onto the show. We talked about that game, what it meant for the rivalry and, oddly enough, a lot about the Michael Jordan documentary. It was fun. Later in the show, Jeremiah and Aaron expressed some deep skepticism over the plan to bring all 26 teams to Orlando for some sort of tournament. That was not how we thought it would end. The Sounders were absolutely dismantled by Toronto FC, losing 2-0. Maybe we got wrapped up in the narrative or we simply started to believe our own hype, but the Sounders were just not up for it and now we have to try to understand what happened. Jeremiah, Aaron and Richard Farley try to sort it all out. They also appear to have lost the middle segment. Hope you don't mind. Well, it sure is nice to be here again. The Sounders are back in the MLS Cup final, looking to become the fourth team in MLS history to repeat as champions. They also have a chance to win their seventh MLS trophy, which would be the third most of all time and more than any non-Canadian team since they entered the league. As you surely know, they'll be facing the same Toronto FC they beat last time. Yes, TFC is a better version than last year's, but so are the Sounders. Richard Farley joins us to discuss the game as well as answer some listener questions. June 16, 2015 is a date that will always bear special significance to Seattle Sounders fans, and to a lesser degree those of the Portland Timbers. That was the Cascadia rivals faced off at Starfire Soccer Stadium in a U.S. Open Cup match. More relevantly, it was the day Clint Dempsey lost his mind, the Sounders finished the match with just seven players on the pitch and the Timbers became the first road team to win a competitive match against the Sounders at Starfire. We teamed up with Chris Rifer of Soccer Made in Portland and FourFourTwo's Richard Farley to tell the story of this fateful day through the people who experienced it first hand. We talked to Lamar Neagle, Andy Rose, Ross Fletcher, Nat Borchers, Caleb Porter, Jack Jewsbury and referee Jeff Hosking.

This has not been the season any of had hoped it would be. Yet, after beating the Colorado Rapids for their second road win of the season, the Seattle Sounders find themselves in the not-so-awful position of practically in playoff position. Despite their struggles, the Sounders are even on points for the final playoff spot and will finish out the season with nine of their last 15 at the friendly confines of CenturyLink Field. Jeremiah, Aaron and FourFourTwo's Richard Farley discuss the Sounders' spot in the standings while also sharing some thoughts on the Gold Cup, Megan Rapinoe's recent run of form and the various happenings during the transfer season. A lot has happened in the two weeks since we last record. The Sounders have played three!!!! games, going 2-1-0, have lost a bunch of players to international duty and are apparently about to lose another. To help us unpack all of this stuff, we brought on friend of the show Richard Farley. He shares some thoughts on what he sees as Brian Schmetzer's tendency to over-indulge the multi-faceted tools at his disposal and gives us some insight on what kind of team the Portland Timbers are likely to field for Tuesday's U.S. Open Cup match. Of course, we also take a bunch of your questions. We here at Nos Audietis take a fair amount of pride in a measured, reasonable approach. We know that one game does not a season make and that one performance does not define a player or team. We're well aware of the importance of sample-size, which is a recurring talking point in this week's show. That said, it's hard not to be encouraged by the Sounders' 3-0 takedown of the LA Galaxy, a team that might not be what it once was but one that still has the kind of talent that should keep it from being embarrassed like that at home. Once again, FourFourTwo's Richard Farley joins us to help sort through the mess. We also talk about the Seattle Reign's 5-1 win over the Houston Dynamo, Leo Messi, Darlington Nagbe and everyone's favorite MLS owner-coach combination. This week's music: "Star Blazers Theme", Perry Como - "Seattle", Hounds of the Wild Hunt - “Ragged All Week”, Woody Guthrie - "Roll On Columbia" Thanks to James Woollard, Sounders Public Address Announcer, for doing our sponsor reads. We're now five games into the 2017 season and the Seattle Sounders' offense still hasn't hit its stride. Sure, there was a three-goal outburst against the New York Red Bulls, but after a pair of ties in which the Sounders only scored one goal, it's fair to at least ask if there aren't more systematic problems. With FourFourTwo's Richard Farley joining us, we decided that the struggles aren't anything worth losing sleep over quite yet. After solving all the Sounders' problems, we moved on to some more general soccer talk including the 2026 World Cup bid and various Champions League goings on. This wasn't quite the start of the season we had hoped for, but one point from a tough two-game road trip isn't the worst-case either. Aside from the first 45 minutes in Houston, the Sounders actually played pretty well. Sure, their advantage in xGA could be chalked up to playing from behind for a good deal of the time, but the offense looks reasonably potent and if they can regain the defensive form they had during last year's playoffs ... well, this could be another fun year. The guys sort through all of that and then have Richard Farley back to discuss some of the goings on around the league. Among the topics of discussion are the beef between Alejandro Bedoya and Jozy Altidore; the Twitter spat between the Timbers and Galaxy; and whether or not the seemingly shrinking reliance on American players in MLS.

We're now just a days away from the Seattle Sounders' first game as defending MLS Cup champions. Has a pretty nice ring to it, right? Well, we figured we better get the band together for a season preview, inviting Richard Farley onto the show to give us another perspective on the Sounders as well as the rest of the competition. We all seemed to agree that FC Dallas and Toronto FC are probably the biggest threats to unseating the Sounders. We've also decided that if the Portland Timbers can't put it together with the squad they assembled that the guy who deserves the blame is almost certainly Caleb Porter. In between the Sounders and MLS segments, we sit down with Harry Shipp. Suffice it to say, you're probably going to end up rooting for him after listening to this interview. Shipp talked extensively about how he never felt his head was right in Montreal and was generally quite introspective. This is a player who seems to have a coaching career in his future.

We encountered several technical difficulties in attempting to get this week's show into your earholes, but we like to think it was worth it. Richard Farley joined Jeremiah in the first segment and they basically broke down the Colorado Rapids series while looking head to the MLS Cup matchup with Toronto FC. Both basically agreed that while TFC is scoring in bunches, their defense leaves plenty of room for question marks. Conversely, this is a Sounders defense that has allowed just three goals in five playoff games. The prospect of this being a bit of a shootout seem reasonably strong. As usual, Jeremiah and Aaron close out the show with a question-and-answer segment. Enjoy.
We weren't sure if we were going to record this week, especially since Aaron has a bit of a superstition about doing stuff like this in the middle of a series. But with Wednesday's news that Brian Schmetzer was having the interim tag removed from his title, we felt we owed to all of you to focus on that especially since the next time we record that bit of news will likely be lost. In order to relieve Aaron of his superstition, we brought on Richard Farley to discuss the hiring with Jeremiah. As usual, Richard gives us a bit more of a national perspective on the hiring. One thing they focused on was how different the perception of the announcement was outside of Seattle. While here, it seemed to make a certain amount of sense to unveil Schmetzer in front of a massive group of fans, nationally it looked as if the Sounders buried the news by announcing on a weeknight while Game 7 of the World Series was being played. Enjoy.
At one point in this week's show we were asked “what one word would you use to describe this season?” Our best answer: ¯_(ツ)_/¯. It has been a wild season, and it's going to continue for at least one more game. The Seattle Sounders have gone to depths they've never before experienced and managed to come out of it in reasonably good shape as they'll be hosting a Knockout Round game. To help Jeremiah and Aaron make sense of this crazy season, we brought back Richard Farley onto the show. They talk about the Sounders' chances at making it all the way to MLS Cup, what Brian Schmetzer still needs to do in order to get the fulltime gig and they answer your questions. Enjoy.
The Seattle Sounders are coming off a disheartening 2-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls. It might not quite be full-blown panic time, but the Sounders head into Saturday's game needing a win over New York City FC badly. To help us understand the state of the Sounders, Richard Farley is joining us for another live recording. But before you get all worried about sound quality, know that we finally have obtained some proper live-recording equipment. That's thanks to Bootstrapper Studio's, our newest sponsor. Of course, we also find some time to talk about Copa Libertadores, the rumored pursuit of Nicholas Lodeiro and take some listener questions. Enjoy.
Since friend of the show Richard Farley was in town to cover the Copa America Centenario games in Seattle, we decided to due an impromptu live recording at El Legendario. Jeremiah, Aaron and Richard discuss the current Copa America, the future of the tournament, and also agree that the hot salsa that came with our tacos with legit hot. Also the guys take time between eating chips and salsa to answer your questions as read by their Scolville Index-besieged engineer Likkit. Engineer's log: Admittedly the live audio recording is pretty rough and we promise we are working on the technology to bring you much better live pods in the future.
Jeremiah and Aaron discuss the 0-1 loss to the Colorado Rapids and talk about what we might expect on this upcoming 2-game East Coast road trip. In the second segment, Jeremiah welcomes Richard Farley to the show to talk about Seattle Reign FC attendance. Also the guys get back to answering your very cerebral, hard-hitting questions as read by the very hydrated engineer Likkit.
The podcast team told Jeremiah to take another week of paternity leave so we invited Richard Farley to guest host the show. He and Aaron discuss the state of the Seattle Sounders FC after their 2-1 win over Philadelphia Union and whether or not it is still time to panic. They even take some time to talk about this mostly unknown rookie named Jordan Morris and his first professional goal. Also the guys answer your questions as read by the recently vacationed, fairly tanned engineer Likkit.
