Local COVID measurements dip into Stage 3 range - but as was the case last week, the City wants to see consistent decline before reducing officially to that level, which would mean vaccinated people could go largely unmasked. Texas schools have now reported more COVID cases than from all of last school year, in just the first two months. ACL Fest Weekend One dodges rain, but doubts are cast on their Friday stats regarding COVID admission protocols - if you lost something at the park, you might find it on ACL's Virtual Lost And Found. Today is the last day to register in time to vote in the November 2 election, including Prop A - which has found new opponents in the Austin Firefighters Union and billionaire activist George Soros. An arrest is made in the attempted firebombing of the offices of the Travis County Democratic Party. Upwards of 10 thousand protestors converge on the Capitol in Saturday's Women's March against new Texas abortion laws. A large group of Austin tech executives issue a statement in opposition to abortion restrictions and other controversial legislation. Austin FC gets a win over Real Salt Lake, while the U.S. Men's National Team plays Jamaica at Q2 this Thursday. Texas beats TCU (which is surprisingly rare) and gets ready for OU in Dallas on Saturday. And mildly warm and dry weather settles in for the week.

That's where the LA Galaxy's winless streak now stands, and they've got some tough prospects coming up midweek and this weekend. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the Galaxy's latest debacle and why Greg Vanney might be correct, but he still can't divorce himself from the results of the loss at Austin FC. The Guys will start with some numbers talk as they look at the Galaxy's play against Austin. Why did Vanney and Jonathan dos Santos both talk about execution after the game? And did the 2-0 loss come down to missed chances? What about the defense? Will they need to be perfect down the stretch for LA? And are the Galaxy even a playoff team anymore? Josh and Kevin will also discuss the chances that Dennis te Kloese gets all the blame if the season goes sideways and why one win really could mean the difference for a Galaxy team that is mentally fragile at this point. Expert analysis boiled down to "score first" and "be a better team." It may sound pedestrian, but the guys will make it sound way more exciting than that. But the base idea is still the same. So for the Galaxy, it definitely comes down to either executing when it counts or being executed before the season is over. How do the Galaxy make you feel right now? Can you take a positive mindset into Wednesday's match against Real Salt Lake? Let's go. Let's get this show going so that we can all find out what happens after the ball is kicked on Wednesday night!

LAFC has followed up its eight-match winless streak with two wins on the bounce. The Black & Gold now have the playoffs in sight but the matches are going to start coming fast and heavy from here until the end of the season. Max and Vince have a full breakdown of the 3-2 win over Real Salt Lake. Bob Bradley rewarded the team that beat Sporting KC last week and it paid off within 20 seconds. Chicho Arango has found his scoring boots. Bryce Duke continues to power the team forward from an interesting role. While Eduard Atuesta has grown into his role as LAFC captain with Carlos Vela still nursing an injury. The guys talk about the best performances from the match and why a little luck isn't such a bad thing this time of year. We then turn our attention to Austin FC and the tough road schedule that awaits LAFC. And the guys go on plenty of tangents and diversions about their weekends, music, movies, etc. Pretty much what you expect from an episode with all Max and Vince in it. Sometimes you're lucky. Sometimes you're good. In LAFC's match against RSL at the Banc this week, we were definitely a little bit of both! LAFC wins consecutive games for just the third time this season, 3-2 over Real Salt Lake, and you can hear all about how it went down on Episode 166. If you weren't in your seat at the start of the match, you missed history! Eduard Atuesta takes the ball through the middle of the pitch, finds Bryce Duke, and after a small deflection, Chicho Arango puts it in the back of the net just 20 seconds from the opening whistle. It's the fastest goal in LAFC history, and the 8th fastest goal ever in MLS. LAFC is up 1-0, and the roller coaster ride has begun.RSL and LAFC would trade goals near the half-hour mark, as Damir Kreilach found the back of the net against us once again. Yeesh. Just two minutes later, Eduard Atuesta drops a dime from above and Chicho is able to head it in past Ochoa to re-take the lead. Coming out of the halftime break, LAFC gives up another headscratcher. A bad turnover by Bryce Duke leads to a run out from Anderson Julio, and RSL has equalized yet again. Not to worry, Black and Gold Faithful, because tonight, for one of the first times all season, the futbol gods are on OUR side. Right before the hour mark, Toni Datkovic attempts to make a simple back pass to his keeper, David Ochoa. However, the pass was a little to the right of Ochoa, and as he slipped, the RSL keeper could only helplessly watch as the ball trickled into the back of the net. Both sides traded opportunities, but LAFC holds on for the win, 3-2. Also on this episode, Filly doesn't just channel Barry Manilow, you may actually think he is in the room with us. Scarf waxes on about TGLA while ranting against the negativity in the LAFC fan pages (after a winning streak!). LAFC signs a keeper, Diego Rossi debuts for Fenebache, the Las Vegas Lights still haven't won, and it's Happy Former Keeper Birthday time on This Day in LAFC History! The club is off to Austin and the boys are off to bed, but not before we give you Episode 166 of The Most LAFC Podcast on Earth!

But August is a long month, so any home game the club plays will need to win if they want to position themselves for a race to the finish. The Galaxy are nearing the midway point of the season. Are you ready for what this next month brings? Hosts Josh Guesman and, filling in for Kevin Baxter, Larry Morgan discuss the news over the weekend, and what a busy Monday means for the Galaxy front office. Josh and Larry will start by going over some of the live show highlights and maybe some of the information that was deposited during that wacky 90 minutes. And if you have listened, you should probably give it a shot. But the guys also want to take a big picture approach to the 4-1 win over Portland. And Josh certainly intends to shine a light on how the Galaxy won that game; by growing into it. There are also players to talk about and why Kevin Cabral had his most significant jump forward in a Galaxy uniform on Friday night. Is he ready for more? Josh and Larry will also talk about the players returning from Gold Cup and why Jonathan dos Santos was expected back in LA today but found himself in Mexico City instead. Will that change some of what Greg Vanney told us in our wide-ranging media call today? Plus, you'll get to hear from Vanney and goalkeeper Jonathan Bond, as both had some fascinating insight into what this group is trying to accomplish on Wednesday and beyond. Finally, Josh and Larry will get you updated on Dejan Joveljić and why he's in Los Angeles as you listen to this show (assuming you're listening on Monday or Tuesday) and what the Galaxy can expect from a good, but not great, Real Salt Lake. There are many points up for grabs for the Galaxy this month, and if they want to stay where they're at, they better win most of them!

So what happened in a clearly flat performance? And can they fix it before the face-off against Real Salt Lake on Wednesday night? Hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the loss the Galaxy sustained and why Greg Vanney believes his team couldn't find the answers against a Whitecaps side that hasn't won many games. But first, Kevin will update you on his 26-hour trip to cover the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. And why you couldn't take a penalty kick in his hotel room. Or maybe why he has a murder alley view. The guys will give you audio from Vanney as he explains what a short bench means for the current team and why he expects more from his starters. And can you look at the starting lineup the Galaxy put together and start complaining the club didn't have the horses to win this game? Josh will pull out some charts that tell you where the Galaxy compare to other seasons and why, even though they lost to Vancouver, they're still in a good spot when it comes to their road record. In fact, they're in a very good place. But they need to keep winning games on the road. And that probably means against Real Salt Lake. Josh and Kevin will preview the match against RSL and discuss why this is a team the Galaxy should beat. But they're not a bad team. They just haven't won a lot of games through the first third of the season. Is this a case of the Galaxy being the better team? What kind of reaction do you expect after losing to Vancouver? Can the Galaxy keep their streak of not losing consecutive games? We've got a packed show for you today, and we can't wait to share it with you!
