This week on Wrestling Omakase we give you a double dose of BIG VAN VADER, more Sting, a DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Battle Royale, some 2014 DG action featuring Akira Tozawa and early weekly PPV era TNA! If you haven't listened to a 5 Matches episode yet, every week John and the guest each choose 2 matches to watch and talk about on the episode. Then we each choose a third match, which is put up to a vote on the @wrestleomakase Twitter account, letting the listeners choose our fifth and final match of the week! It's a fun retro format featuring all sorts of different wrestling! John is joined by returning guest Jake (@Oatgan) to discuss a very unique set of five matches. Before they get into this week's set of matches Jake and John briefly discuss the Yakuza game series which is now helping John pass these many lonely quarantine hours at home, plus there's some talk about some recent empty arena wrestling shows and how some of the new ones out of Japan have been improving as well. Once that's out of the way we get into our five picks for this week, and here they all are in order of discussion: 1. T-Hawk vs. Akira Tozawa, DG 5/9/14 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYsTt1sfCXE) 2. Vader & Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Rick & Scott Steiner, NJPW 6/26/92 (NJPW World: https://njpwworld.com/p/s_series_00107_1_1) 3. Ken Shamrock vs. Sabu, TNA 7/24/02 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCEzmIFbsxs) 4. Ironman Heavymetalweight Battle Royale, DDT 11/3/19 (DDT Universe: https://www.ddtpro.com/universe/videos/7212, match starts at 32:40) 5. Sting vs. Vader, WCW 12/28/92 (WWE Network: https://watch.wwe.com/episode/Starrcade-1992-9818) Some of the discussion points that come up along the way include: DG units of the time period and where things went sideways with the Millennials, how Vader, Bam Bam and the Steiners came together here and then immediately went off in different directions never to meet again, TNA's long history of top heel units including lots of SEX talk, DDT jokes that are easy to get vs. harder ones, and where this particular match stands up in the Sting-Vader pantheon. This week on Wrestling Omakase it's Jake ([@oatgan](https://twitter.com/Oatgan))'s pick for winning our 2018 Champions Fantasy Draft, and he chose to have us watch a rather infamous show: FIP Everything Burns 2017! At his behest we're also joined by the hosts of the now ex-podcast Everything Evolves, Aaron Taube ([@aptaube](https://twitter.com/aptaube)) & Aaron Bentley ([@aaronlikethecar](https://twitter.com/aaronlikethecar)). Journey back to 1/8/17 and the early days of the FloSlam era of WWN, as Gabe promised a new era would begin for this long-running indie promotion. He also promised an EDGY~! new direction, which results in a LOT of cursing on this show. This show is very strange, only running about 2 hours and 15 minutes but featuring nearly as much talking as wrestling. It also features a weird mix of guys who have popped up all over the rest of WWN/the indies in general after this (Austin Theory, Fred Yehi, Sami Callahan, Jason Kincaid, etc.) and guys who have barely been seen again (Teddy Stigma! others!). We talk hecklers, PLANTS, cursing ring announcers, and much more. Plus, we answer some of your questions, discuss how the Aarons are feeling just a couple days after announcing the end of their own podcast, and more! It's a weird trip back to a weird time for US indie wrestling, this week! Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

The week-to-week WWE product is...lacking, and frankly just not worth talking about. So, the Punchcasters--Goog and MRT, joined by Karmine and Oatgan--decided to talk about something better: WrestleMania! We put together a 12-match card, adhering to these rules:· No Superstar can appear in more than one match · No WrestleMania can have more than one match· Must include at least one main evento The main event is the last match on the show

we talked about payback, and stuffAlso, since the Call of Cthulhu game was not recorded I will type out a summary below.see, right below! The year is 1931, and our heroes were mountain climbers in a race to the summit of Mt McKinley. There were three teams: Blank and Sunsweet, IBeforeE and StrikingYak, and Oatgan and myself. There was prize money involved, because the United States government needed heroes to inspire people during the Great Depression. The night before climbing, they discovered a local team of three brothers had set out before them and already had a day's head start, not to be outdone by outsiders. There were two main paths up the mountain: the difficult climb and the easier climb. Oatgan and I decided on the more difficult climb while everyone else took the easy path. Minutes into our climb, we encountered one of the brothers. He was crazed and snowblind, attacking anything that moved, including us. He was taken down with a rifle shot, and we were unfazed - hey, we rolled well. The rest of the climb before we reached the cloud line was mostly uneventful, except for Blank and Sunsweet finding a dead body. It was the second brother, his head being attached by a thread and one arm completely missing. IBeforeE and StrikingYak decided this would be a great opportunity to get ahead of Blank and Sunsweet. The real fun started at the overhang and Wickersham's Wall. We all encountered VERTIGINOUS HORRORS!! Nine foot worms the size of tree trunks that scale mountains with nightmarish speed were now on the hunt. I took one out by digging my axe into it, jumping off the mountain, and letting go of the axe while praying my partner Oatgan had anchored the rope. At Wickersham's Wall the climbers were met with a Vertiginous Horror, and then a second, and then a third... The teams split up in an effort to not get eaten or knocked off the mountain. As we are all nearing the top, Oatgan and I encounter the beginnings of a storm. I succumb to the elements and collapse, forcing Oatgan to carry my unconscious body to the nearest shelter, which was a nearby cave with a totally-not-suspicious blue light emanating from it. On the other side of the mountain, IBeforeE and StrikingYak find dozens of the Vertiginous Horrors and IBeforeE gets the idea to cause an avalanche and anchor himself to try and clear the way. Somehow, this works and they find their way to a totally-not-suspicious cave. Inside the cave, shit happens.-Yak kills me with a grenade, while Oatgan sneaks away- Blank and Sunsweet enter the cave last, and discover Niel and Yak covered in my gore- Oatgan, after sneaking back, shoots IBeforeE and blows his head clean off, and reaches the summit first- The last brother is found at the summit, his wrists slit and his body frozen.- I forget why, but Blank stabs Sunsweet in the throat- Yak uses IBeforeE's corpse like a sled and rides down the mountain and makes it to the bottom first, claiming prize money and fame. I did not prepare for this, but fuck it I can roll with it.- Blank and Oatgan partner up because they are the last two people left on the mountain, so they investigate the mysterious blue light inside the cave. Inside the cave, they find the walls and ceiling absolutely covered with the vertiginous horrors and in the center of the room is an obsidian obelisk above a pool of what looks like motor oil. They decide to dive into the pool, and come out on the other side. In front of them is an alien world populated entirely by the vertiginous horrors. Out of place stars and the planet Earth are in the night sky, and there appears to be no discernible way to get back to the mountain.Hope you enjoyed the read and sorry you couldn't listen. This was definitely the most fun session yet!
