On this special REMIX episode of What Happened When, Tony Schiavone and Conrad Thompson sit down together to watch WWF Monday Night RAW from April 27, 1998—and for Tony, it's a first-time viewing of one of the most infamous moments of the Monday Night War. The focus? D-Generation X and their audacious, real-world invasion of World Championship Wrestling. As the episode unfolds, Tony reacts in real time to seeing Triple H, X-Pac, and the New Age Outlaws roll up to WCW's doorstep, cameras rolling, lines blurring between storyline and reality. From the perspective of a man who was insideWCW when it happened, Tony offers candid, unfiltered insight into what the locker room likely thought, how management viewed the stunt, and why this moment symbolized WWF's growing confidence in 1998. Conrad guides the conversation with context—breaking down where WWF stood creatively, why this episode of Monday Night Raw felt so dangerous and unpredictable, and how DX's fourth-wall-breaking antics represented a turning point in the war for wrestling fans' attention. Expect laughs, disbelief, and plenty of "I can't believe they did that" moments as Tony processes the invasion not as a rival executive, but as a fan watching history unfold. The duo also discusses how this single segment changed perceptions, raised the stakes, and helped redefine what competition looked like in professional wrestling. It's a rare, behind-the-curtain look at the DX invasion—told by the voice of WCW himself—on an episode that proves just how wild, bold, and real the Monday Night Wars had become. Have any interesting stories to tell us? Lets us know here!Last we left off, Benoit rose to international fame in the wrestling world, met his wife and victim Nancy, had a son named Daniel, and concluded with the untimely death of his best friend, Eddie Guerrero. From this point on Benoit would be visibly different to everyone. His violent tendencies outside the ring had already started happening more frequently. Combine that with Guerrero being gone, and Benoit was truly broken. Just us as we dive into Benoits brain, CTE, and the ridiculous conspiracies surrounding his death!Warning - this episode deals with some pretty heavy topics, including abuse, sexual and otherwise, and horrific violence. With that being said, jokes are being made about the killer and the industry, not the victims. If there's one thing Benoit earned through his actions, its public ridicule. So with that said, enjoy the show!If you enjoyed the show, please follow us on whatever podcast app you are using. If you'd like to take it further, a like and review helps as well. It means a ton. Thank you for listening!

It's the final episode of the last episode of television before heading into the first ever pay-per-view for ECW, a wrestling promotion that is trying to prove that a small independent promotion can do it, can be a viable contender all by itself, with the help of nobody else. Nobody. Nobody except the wide range of wrestlers that owed favours or would work for cheap; the first booker Eddie Gilbert who set the tone for what the show would be; Vince McMahon, who while not outright funding the thing, has helped it along as long as Paul Heyman stopped burying his promotion and focused instead on - after WCW raided ECW's roster already, allowing him to raid it much more effectively - WCW; and nobody else except for of course Paul Heyman's Dad's money I assume (and connections) which helped screw Tod Gordon out of the weekend pissup and hotel orgy-hosting nonstop party he had founded that was masquerading as a wrestling company. It's that pivotal final episode of television before that pivotal first pay-per-view, "this Sunday night", at 9 PM, across America, and presumably through piracy and early internet messageboards, across the Globe to a certain extent. Barely Legal. You've got to start that episode right, with a powerful piece of attention-grabbing footage that will make even the most jaded channel-scrolling stoner to shake the cheeto dust out of their eyes, sit up in their Barca Lounger and say hey… I should see if I can steal Barely Legal off the Internet. And what better way to start that episode of television than with… Oh, it's the Pitbulls. It's time for Luke Pennock & Brendan Flaherty to review episode 205 and 206 of ECW, from April 1st & 8th, 1997! Up next - our BARELY LEGAL livestream - presented in eye-wounding VHS-VISION. Self-described anarchist Michael Storm gives us some perspective on how a state-less society might handle the issues of the day. In this installment of the Big Five Project, the guys pull a bit of double duty here. The Episode begins with a conversation about John Cena's final match and his legacy in professional wrestling. They delve into the GOAT debate, comparing Cena to other wrestling legends like Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin. At the tail end of the Episode, Dave breaks down how that final match went and addresses the more controversial aspects of it. In between all that though, the discussion transitions to the King of the Ring 1996 tournament, highlighting its significance in wrestling history, including the impact of Mankind's debut on the Undertaker's career and the first true emergence of Stone Cold Steve Austin. The King of the Ring 1996 event marked a pivotal moment in WWE history, showcasing the rise of Stone Cold Steve Austin and the beginning of his iconic persona with the famous Austin 3:16 promo. But, the event featured several other memorable matches, including the beginning of a legendary rivalry between Mankind and Undertaker, as well as Ahmed Johnson's historic win as the first black Intercontinental Champion. The main event saw Shawn Michaels retain his title against the British Bulldog, while the chaotic post-match scene set the stage for future storylines. Overall, the event highlighted the downturn of WWE's business compared to WCW, yet it also provided a platform for rising stars and iconic moments that would shape the future of professional wrestling.About the Chairshot Radio NetworkLaunched in 2017, the Chairshot Radio Network presents you with the best in sports, entertainment, and sports entertainment.
