The Voices of Wrestling Podcast Network is an exceptional podcast network for wrestling fans. With a focus on presenting pro wrestling in all its facets, the hosts provide unique insights and a strong understanding of American and Japanese men's wrestling. They offer a diverse range of shows covering various promotions and topics, ensuring there is something for everyone's tastes. The high quality sound and real presentation make it a must-listen for any hardcore wrestling fan.

One of the best aspects of this podcast network is the Flagship podcast, which offers fresh insights that go beyond just regurgitating information from other sources like Keller and Meltzer. The hosts' knowledge of both American and Japanese men's wrestling sets this show apart from others in the genre. It is an important listen to stay current with the hardcore wrestling fan base.

Another standout show on the network is "Music of the Mat," which provides amazing in-depth analysis of pro wrestling theme music. It offers a unique angle that expands listeners' appreciation for this aspect of pro wrestling. Similarly, "Super J Cast" offers fantastic NJPW talk, as well as crisps, making it an enjoyable listen for fans looking to expand their horizons.

While there are many great shows on this network, one of the best parts about them is when Joe Lanza goes on crazy rants on the VOW Flagship. These moments cannot be beat and add an extra layer of entertainment to already excellent content.

The ten count is a staple of pro wrestling matches: A wrestler has until the count of ten to get back in the ring or get up off the mat, or else they will lose the match. It's a way to add some more drama and suspense to a match, though it seems count outs don't happen nearly as often as they used to back in the day. On this episode, Andrew and returning guest Fred Morlan (The Good, The Bad & The Hungee) start the ten count, playing songs sequentially with the numbers one, two, three, etc. in the title, all the way up to ten. Artists played include Ben Folds Five, Sneaker Pimps, Rufus Thomas, Southern Culture on the Skids, Babymetal, Styx, Jenny Lewis, and many more. John and returning guest Velkej Bracha start with their usual banter/assorted nonsense, before then discussing the recent announcement of Shinjuku FACE's impending closure and the enormous hole it will be leaving in the Japanese wrestling scene. Then they discuss the last two nights of the STARDOM Cinderella Tournament in great detail, beginning with the 3/11 Korakuen and then the finals on 3/15 from Yokohama. They also look ahead to the enormous Saya Kamitani vs. Sayaka Kurara red belt vs. unit disbands match, and discuss where the promotion could possibly be going from here in general. Then it's over to NJPW to discuss five (!) nights of the New Japan Cup, spanning most of the 2nd round and then also the first two quarterfinal matches- a real rollercoaster experience featuring some of the very best AND very worst matches of the entire year so far! Velkej's last topic of the show is a pretty deep dive on Marigold, as they break down some of their business, discuss their trainees, and review their 3/14 Korakuen show.John then goes it alone to review two more shows, a decent AJPW Korakuen from 3/15 and a truly horrible GLEAT show from Shinjuku FACE on 3/12. They reminisce a little of course, John tries to convince Paul to go again in December, and then John reveals that they'll be making their Wrestlemania weekend debut this year! Then it's on to the actual shows we're here to talk about, starting with another one John saw live in person: NJPW's New Beginning in US show from beautiful (??) Trenton, New Jersey! Lots of notes about how the crowd reacted in person, some praise for a change for NJPW booking, and a lot more! After that it's back to shows that actually took place in Japan, starting with STARDOM's 2/28 Korakuen. John & Paul discuss a typically good effort from the hottest promotion in the country (they drew 1601 for a white belt match and no Saya to be found!). Then it's over to NOAH for their own Korakuen show from 3/1, nothing blowaway but a much better effort than their last couple attempts at least. Finally, they head back to DG for a pair of house shows in Osaka on 2/28 & 3/1, as they discuss the follow-up to the almost universally panned Fukuoka show from last week.Emerald FlowShow: https://redcircle.com/shows/the-emerald-flowshowFollow Wrestling Omakase's Twitter account: http://www.twitter.com/wrestleomakaseFollow John on Bluesky: http://bsky.app/profile/justoneenby.bsky.social"Our Sponsors:* Support our sponsor BetterHelp: https://www.betterhelp.comAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

A money mark is someone with a lot of money who runs a wrestling show or starts a promotion because they want to be one of the boys and be a big shot in the wrestling biz. It's not a good thing to be, either because you won't have the wrestlers' respect or you'll blow all your money and fail spectacularly. Typically both. On this episode, Andrew and returning guest Rich Latta (One Nation Radio) play a selection of songs about money and all the tropes and themes associated with it. Artists played include ZZ Top, Jay-Z, Tower of Power, Madonna, Camp Lo, Fitz and the Tantrums, Rick Ross, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Charley Crockett, and many more. We've hit up the ATM and spared no expense, so this episode is rolling in the big bucks!Theme song: "Hemispheres" by Silent PartnerTwitter: @RichLatta32Bluesky: @MusicoftheMat / @justandrew / @richlattaOne Nation Radio: redcircle.com/shows/one-nation-radioRich's YouTube: youtube.com/@RichLattaRich's merch: onelifetimeworldwide.comAll VOW podcasts, articles, previews, and reviews: VoicesofWrestling.comJoin the VOW Discord to discuss Music of the Mat and other shows/topics: VoicesofWrestling.com/DiscordDonate to Music of the Mat and other VOW podcasts: VoicesofWrestling.com/DonateOur Sponsors:* Support our sponsor BetterHelp: https://www.betterhelp.comAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Wrestling Omakase is back with another packed episode, and unfortunately a lot of these shows were #bad. But hey, our returning guest Eric aka Snazzy from the Joshi-ing Around podcast and the Social Suplex newsletter is never bad! John & Eric discuss an absolutely wretched Dragongate Uno Dos Tres show from Fukuoka, as they unfortunately turned in a supremely poor effort for one of their biggest shows of the year. Then it's over to AJPW for their 2/23 Ota Ward Gym show, which cleared the DG show but was still fairly middling, before they wrap up the men's portion of the episode with (thankfully!) a show that was actually good in DDT's 2/23 Korakuen, featuring a bonafide MOTYC!Then it's over to the world of joshi starting with two STARDOM shows from 2/20 (Saori's homecoming show) & 2/21 (from Osaka EDION 2)- mostly standard house show fare, but with a few unique touches. They also speculate on who might win the upcoming Cinderella Tournament, and Snazzy has quite the idea on what the Yokohama Arena main event could end up being. After that they review Marigold's 2/23 Korakeun show, which unfortunately took us back to the land of sucking. They wrap things up with two more smaller joshi promotions' recent shows, Sendai Girls' 2/15 Sendai Pit show and a very rare Ice Ribbon show review (their 2/23 Yokohama show). A real mixed bag of an episode here, but hey, if you wanna hear effusive praise for some stuff and absolute burials at the same time, this is sure the one for you!Joshi-ing Around podcast: https://redcircle.com/shows/1309343e-3781-4750-9209-4efbc9976ab6Social Suplex newsletter: https://www.socialsuplex.com/newsletter/Follow Wrestling Omakase on Twitter: http://twitter.com/wrestleomakaseFollow John on BlueSky: https://bsky.app/profile/justoneenby.bsky.socialOur Sponsors:* Sign up and get 10% off at BetterHelp: https://www.betterhelp.comAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Just like the opening match on a wrestling show has the important role of setting the tone, the main event has the important role of ending the show on a strong note. Not every wrestler can be a main eventer, but the ones who prove they belong are the ones who stay in that spotlight. The same can be said for the closing track on an album. Not every song works as an album closer, but the ones that do stand the test of time. On this episode, Andrew and returning guest JoJo Remy (Voices of Wrestling) play a selection of their favorite album closers, mostly classics but a few modern ones as well. Artists played include Todd Rundgren, The Raconteurs, The Who, Superorganism, UFO, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Pink Floyd, Muse, David Bowie, and many more.
