Diane King Hall takes investors through the retail front and highlights Five Below's (FIVE) big earnings beat and guidance raise that helped rally the stock. Dollar General's (DG) rally was even more substantial as it continued earnings wins for discount retail stores. Kroger's (KR), however, moved to the downside on its mixed quarter. ======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. What separates integrated communications and public relations agencies that grow from those that stall? Part of the answer lies where strategy meets serendipity and where chance favors those that are prepared.Anne Green sits down with Michael Lasky, chair of the public relations practice at Davis+Gilbert, to unpack the gap between aspiration and execution found in D+G's 13th Annual Public Relations Industry Trends Report. They dig into the push toward AI enablement inside agencies, from practices and policy to risk and ethics, and why training may have over-rotated toward technology while fundamentals like business development, financial management, and cross-team collaboration lag. Michael explains the “donut effect” in performance, with small and very large firms outpacing the middle in 2025, and how focus and specialization fuel profit. They also get practical on pricing models and the shift from vendor to counselor that will be increasingly critical moving forward. In this episode:Michael's three top takeaways from this year's research: AI governance, neglected areas of training, and the role of long-term incentive programsWhy specialization and focus are outperforming the generalists, and what the “donut effect” says about performance across different types / sizes of firmsWhy it's essential to talk with clients about AI strategy, usage, contracts, and ROI before procurement callsContinued evolution in pricing strategies and why better success metrics are critical to aligning value and outcomes

In October 1923, first BBC General Manager John Reith wrote to both 10 Downing Street and Buckingham Palace, inviting the Prime Minister and the King to broadcast on the near year-old BBC. Both refused. In November 2025, 17th BBC Director General Tim Davie resigned because... well we're still trying to find out exactly why. Again, politics is at play - though it's difficult to know if that's at the White House, the House of Commons or Broadcasting House. Dr Tom Mills, sociologist at Aston University and author of The BBC: Myth of a Public Service, joins us to whizz through 17 Directors General, their own politics and their battles with politics. ITPM Flash provides insight into what professional traders are thinking about in the markets RIGHT NOW! In this episode of ITPM Flash, Jason McDonald takes a deep dive into the US dollar, current FX positioning, and the macro forces that could drive a rotation in risk assets. Jason walks through multi-year charts of the trade-weighted dollar, investor positioning, and the key rate differentials that drive FX markets. He then connects the macro outlook directly to equity risk assets, explaining which companies benefit from a strong dollar ($HD, $TJX, $DG) and which companies face headwinds ($MCD, $AAPL, $MSFT). He also presents a high-conviction rotation idea: long $IWM / short $QQQ via call and put spreads, taking advantage of decade-low relative valuations in small–mid caps and stretched pricing in mega-cap tech.

October 1923: The BBC's on-air critics go national... These aren't critics OF the BBC (there were - and are - plenty of those), but critics ON the BBC - a literary critic, a music critic, a drama critic, a film critic... Think Front Row, Barry Norman, The Old Grey Whistle Test, but decades earlier. These weekly shows went national via simultaneous broadcasting - SB - and the BBC's London-centric regular programming started to take over the regional schedules. On London 2LO from 14 June 1923 - and nationally on Thursdays from 18 October - was music critic Percy Scholes. On London 2LO from 18 July - and nationally on Fridays from 19 October - was film critic G.A. Atkinson ('Seen on the Screen'). On London 2LO from 8 August - and nationally on Wednesdays from 17 October - was drama critic Archibald Haddon ('News and Views of the Theatre'), and later James Agate. On London 2LO from 3 September - and nationally on Mondays from 15 October - was literary critic John Strachey. And in more recent years, we add comedy criticism to the list - with some comedy writers. James Cary has written BBC sitcoms for TV and radio, inc his own Bluestone 42, Hut 33, Think the Unthinkable, and for others Miranda, My Hero, My Family and more. He joins us with his opinions on comedy, the BBC, and what he'd do if he were DG. And Miranda Hart - once our boss (I also wrote for the show Miranda) - joins us in a conversation I had for my previous podcast, The Heptagon Club (a podcast of conversations with 7 guests per episode - it was exhausting, so I stopped, for the simpler task of chronicling the history of the BBC...) And our latest clue to our audio festive treat. Ooh... SHOWNOTES: Original music is by Will Farmer. James Cary's books include The Gospel According to a Sitcom Writer and The Sacred Art of Joking, and his podcasts include The Stand-up Theologian. After a brief one week absence Wrestling Omakase is back on the air with another packed show talking four shows from all around the Japanese wrestling world! John is joined by returning guest Paul Volsch of VOW's own Emerald FlowShow (https://redcircle.com/shows/the-emerald-flowshow) as they start things out with some chat about the upcoming Wrestle Kingdom trip they'll both be on together, plus John celebrates the Blue Jays beating the Yankees in the ALDS! Yeah! Once that's all out of the way it's time for NJPW talk, as they break down three matches from their recent 10/6 Korakuen (including a truly baffling junior title change) and then the entire King of Pro Wrestling show from Monday 10/13. Lots of thoughts of course on the new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, where things might be going now for the Tokyo Dome, and a ton of praise for a truly amazing tag team title match. Plus, thoughts on the surprising IWGP Women's Title change in the opener and much more, including the show kind of bombing at the gate. Then it's over to the green ring of NOAH for another Ryogoku show from two days earlier, Wrestle Odyssey, which also kind of bombed! They discuss a pretty underwhelming overall show, a big return from the US, a great junior tag title match and a lot more, before looking ahead to what's coming up next for NOAH on their two upcoming Korakuen Hall shows. Following that they break down STARDOM's 10/11 Korakuen Hall show, another kind of underwhelming show that still featured some interesting matches and moments but in the midst of a bit of a sleepy period for the promotion. Finally, they review Dragongate's 10/8 Korakuen which featured an amazing top two matches, discuss their favorites and least favorites among DG's interesting crop of young wrestlers, and give a brief look ahead at the King of Gate tournament.Follow Wrestling Omakase's Twitter account: http://www.twitter.com/wrestleomakaseFollow John on Bluesky: http://bsky.app/profile/justoneenby.bsky.socialAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
What makes a coach unforgettable? Kelly reads listener Kathleen Ricketts' tribute to her high school basketball coach, Dave Greenberg—known simply as "DG". This isn't a story about championships or statistics. It's about a man who knew his players as individuals, who loved freely and built confidence that shaped the trajectory of their lives. Through Kathleen's words, we meet a coach who became a second father to young women who needed one, and we're reminded that the greatest legacies live not in record books but in the people we help become who they're meant to be.
