Straight-up, rolling, minimal tech. No crazy syncopated breakbeats (ok, there are a few), no mad jungle excursions, just pure driving beats. Touching upon progressive tech, minimal dancefloor, acid house.
Ricochet is back for 2024 … a deep selection, touching on serious darkness before easing to a gentle halt. New tracks from Polygonia, Jon Gurd, Earl Grey and Batu, alongside old slammers from depths of Geoff Lifecycle's record bag.
Prog breaks - *continued* … picking up where we left off before the brief summer break, more baselines, modern progressive breakbeat, melodic electronica, some actual ‘prog' in the traditional style, with some abstract spacious oldskool to finish up
BASSLINE PROG … progressive broken beats … deepness … spacious base flavours punctuated with the dirtiest of crunchy breakbeats
NRG! High octane 150bpm and thereabouts in the mix for the Ricochet June podcast … slammers, oldskool, electro, tribal ragga, broken tech … amen blast beats and a little bit o'hardcore for those with stamina
From a bed of moody electro, rolling breaks and psychedelic acid punch through the mix in the Ricochet Records May 2023 session
Swung electro and ambient post-rave breakbeats in a deep, atmospheric selection for March 2023 … the second half gets rather psychedelic, ending on a hypnotic acid tip
Progressive breaky tech to kick off 2023 … Ricochet Records boss Geoff Lifecycle brings a mix of tribal electronica and acidic oldskool beats for the January podcast
Threads Radio lost its premises over the summer but the Ricochet show lives on ... breaky and tribal vibes to end 2022 ... the podcast will continue at some point early 2023
Returning following the Threads* Radio summer break … deep electronica spun live across three decks from Ricochet Records label boss Geoff Lifecycle, moving through downtempo broken beats into euphoric electronica … the second half of August's mix enters hypnotic tribal territory, before straightening up to a driving techno finish.
A trippy, squelchy, hypnotic, rolling selection of acid electro from Geoff Lifecycle, spinning a deeper set of psychedelia and deep techno cuts for the June Ricochet show
100% Ricochet selection … this month is purely music from the label (and a few related items of interest) … Ricochet Records back catalogue exploration … Geoff Lifecycle picks out choice tracks from Ricochet's 40 releases since 2007, alongside a few dubplates, unreleased bits and related remixes from the label's heyday. Having recently put together a label-only set for the Loose Lips mix series, I felt like taking a deeper dlve into some of the higher energy / DJ-mix-focused cuts from our legacy … was more fun than I expected. I was reluctant to repeat many of the same cuts I spun in last label retrospective for the podcast, which I later realised was a set from MARCH 2015 … crikey, time flies … given nearly a decade has passed since that session I could probably have worried less about any repetition, but I do strive to keep the show fresh and not bore our hardcore regulars with the same tunes month after month. Much love.
Prog deepness … long ambient analogue synth workouts mingled with broken beat acid … Geoff Lifecycle takes the pace down a notch for the Ricochet Records April show
Breakbeat special … Lifecycle goes back to his breaky roots … modern techy broken beat intermingled with a few classics … all with an oldskool beaty aftertaste
Acid house / progressive tech / straight-up beats with a healthy slathering of psychedelia … the Ricochet show veers between 303-heavy tech and broken syncopated grooves for the February edition … featuring new music from Jacques Greene, J-Shadow, Seiho, Neil Landstrumm, Sebastian Mullaert and Etch
Deep Ricochet Dive – Part One – Lifecycle starts the year with first of two ultra deep dives to the very depths of broken beat electro. The plan is to surpass this two hours of dubby, dark electronica with an even more raw set later in 2022, but for now this will be a high water mark. Do the Guinness Book Of World Records hold an entry for the deepest mix ever spun?
XMAS JUNGLE SPECIAL from the Ricochet Records show, as promised to listeners at start of the year … Geoff Lifecycle ends the year on a high-tempo high with a selection of dusty ‘90s vinyl, reminiscing about the glory days with a set of techy, dark drum'n'bass spanning the last 25 years
Deep broken tech in the mix alongside crunchy ambient oldskool textures … Geoff Lifecycle mixes two hours of breakbeats, techno and psychedelic electronica for the November 2021 Ricochet show. Featuring new releases by Batu, FaltyDL, DjRUM and Marco Shuttle.

Shhhhh … an ultra deep selection this month from Geoff Lifecycle for the Ricochet Records show … minimal mellow moods delicately cut with the odd angular breakbeat … a hypnotic summer break from the usual nosebleed tech
Rave energy from Geoff Lifecycle on the decks for the June 2021 Ricochet show, with modern takes on crunchy lo-fi oldskool in the mix … featuring new music from Detroit Underground, Ilian Tape, Polymod, Kawatin, Octo Octa, Cosmo Lopez and Goddezz

Lifecycle returns to Threads to host the first Ricochet Records show for 2021, flexing his mixing muscles with a high-intensity 3-deck mix, bringing pure techno energy to the mix alongside Ricochet’s signature broken tech sound
BONUS 2021 NEW YEAR SHOW! Threads Radio is on brief hiatus whilst they take down their xmas decorations. Didn’t want to leave the Ricochet crew without their monthly dose of breakbeats. Can’t remember the labels for a bunch of tracks I played so the tracklist below is a bit patchy. I might stop doing them altogether, it was something of a hangover from when internet radio was trying to be all above board and pay royalties to the artists being spun. The music scene seems to have agreed that no artist will ever make any money ever again from streaming and so the few pence these podcasts generate are under less scrutiny. Not writing down the tracklist means I can up intensity of the mixes and be more fully absorbed into the wheels of steel. So, this may be the last tracklist. I can still be contacted for track IDs at lifecycle@hotmail.co.uk hope you enjoy the tunes - cheers, Geoff LC
Tribal breaks, rave and tech throughout Geoff Lifecycle’s December show for Threads, representing Ricochet Records with this high-energy two hour romp on the wheels of steel. Featuring new music from Coco Bryce, Forest Drive West and Luke Vibert alongside random classics from dusty end of the record bag.
Lower tempo but heavy as hell electronica kicks off the November Ricochet show, with Geoff Lifecycle mixing two hours of live tech, breaks and progressive electro, featuring new tracks from Datassette, Budakid, Radioactive Man and Minor Science.
Throwback to 2010 with two live recordings from 10 years ago, when Ricochet hosted a series of autumn label nights at Shoreditch electronica den The Gramaphone (RIP). Featuring two sets from Lifecycle (straight-up breakbeat from the inaugural October set, followed with a techno-inspired mix from the November 2010 show), bridged by November’s guest mix from ADJ (AI / Touchin’ Bass), dropping electronica sounds from his Pyramid Transmissions label through the Gramaphone’s impressive bassbins.
Geoff Lifecycle mixes electronica live across three decks, with an electro slant to September’s selection - featuring new tracks from Everson, Tripeo and Radioactive Man alongside Ricochet Records’ signature broken tech sound
