We start the week off with a bang as Madrid based techno assassin Rodiaz debuts on Marcel Fengler's Index imrint for their 10th anniversary. The young and promising Spaniard has supplied an elegantly powerful techno anthem, which blurs the line between chaos & euphoria. Marcel Fengler presents “10 Years IMF,” an energising collection that celebrates a decade of his prominent label Index Marcel Fengler, the longtime Berghain regular begins a new professional chapter as 2022 comes to a close. A “heart project,” which took two years to complete, features 12 tracks that are exclusive to the collection and, in keeping with the imprint's concept, brings together established and up-and-coming artists. '10 Years IMF' serves as Fengler's own manifesto of techno and the aesthetic potential of the genre while also presenting tracks that span the complete gamut of the techno genre, from groovy to elegant, industrial to ambient or broken beat, straight up to the tougher techno variation. Functional and thrilling in equal doses, the compilation explores Fengler's multi-faceted vision of techno, curating a line-up of tracks from artists across the generation. The compilation includes tracks from; Etapp Kyle, Dasha Rush, SHDW & Obscure Shape, ONYVAA & Mattia Trani, Marcel Fengler & The Advent, VRIL, STEYA, Scalameriya, Gerald VDH, Cratan, Chontane & Rodiaz. Rodiaz's ‘The Ancient Sage' has been a beloved go-to track to close out sets for Fengler and appropriately winds out the project. It's a timely reminder that techno can be simultaneously elegant and powerful and the dancefloor need not suffer any loss of energy because of it. “He sent me a playlist of uncompromising stunners and each track was better than the last. Expect more bangers on IMF soon.” Rodiaz ------------------------- SC: https://soundcloud.com/rodiazxmusic IG: https://www.instagram.com/rodiazxmusic/ Four Four Magazine --------------------------- FB: www.facebook.com/FOURFOURDANCE/ IG: www.instagram.com/fourfourmagazine/ Web: www.fourfourmag.com/

Scalameriya is a Serbian dj, producer and sound designer known for his flashy mixing skills, eccentric productions and menacing synth design. The combination of leaping into the world of techno at the age of 13 and having an obsessive personality lead to extensive practice-sessions and the development of impressive dexterity in djing. As difficult as growing up in Serbia has been, that experience gave him the necessary focus to dive deep into production and find refuge while creating his distinctive style of techno. Scalameriya, written “Skalamerija” in Serbian, is a word used to describe any unfamiliar-looking device of an unknown or even non-existing purpose, function or origin. This became a concept that is reflected in the structure of his productions and dj-techniques. Often described as hard and aggressive, he claims that his sound is heavy and intimidating, insisting that those are similar, but divergent aesthetics. Scalameriya's individuality and militaristic work-discipline have proven to be prolific as his records can be found in catalogues of some of the most important record-labels. Both as a dj and producer, Nikola demonstrates that he is an unstoppable force, delivering performances and soundtracks that are leaving behind lasting impressions all around the world. We premier Italian techno DJ and producer Lady Maru's contribution to the 10-year anniversary compilation of Berlin queer collective and label ‘Gegen' with her track Kill Ur Lobby. Lady Maru best known for her post punk and EBM style tracks takes a different direction on this track as she returns to our sound-systems with a more industrial style affair. On the back of releases on Diffuse Reality, Revok Records and Industrial Complex as well as a revered collaboration release with Samantha Tongi, Lady Mary is going from strength to strength. Our second premier of the 3 part VA is a banging industrial techno track with hypnotic undertones. The harsh and pounding drives the track as whirling synth bounces from side to side. Jarring claps come slapping in as they drive the track even further. The rave inspired breakdown brings the track to a boiling point before gyrating back down to a it's raucous hypnotic essence. The second volume of the compilation comes with tracks from techno house- hold names and scene favourites such as Paula Temple, Scalameriya, Esther Duijn, Femnyst and more. Celebrating 10 years of existence, Gegen will showcase their past decade of parties into a newly founded label, by showcasing the artists that have been at the heart of the infamous party series. The compilation is built on a sonic narrative arc, with releases growing harder, faster and harsher, mimicking the progression of a Gegen party. Gegen will be releasing the 3 parts every two weeks. Gegen invite listeners and friends old and new to a month long journey through the Gegen sound. We welcome DJ Tool, Hyperaktivist and Nayme who together form the Berlinbased collective Mala Junta. Offering an escape and a safe bonding place for the German capital's queer scene, the group highlight the values of inclusivity, support, friendship and community, and feature a diverse music mix of the faster, funkier, grooving old school techno, effortlessly blended with psychedelic trance and breaks. Their ideals for family and community are further instilled by their strict limited capacity events, making Mala Junta one of Berlin’s best kept rave secrets. In this chat with Nayme, Ana Laura (Hyperaktivist) and Jo-Jo (DJ TOOL) we found out how the three bonded together and became friends well beyond the dancefloor and the events they have been organizing. We explore what it takes to embody and support diversity and inclusion and how dealing with challenging situations is an opportunity to lead by example. We address why we should all be talking openly about hard problems, and - between a few wine glasses and a laugh - we remind ourselves that there is something we all need now more than ever: more humanity, music and connection with each other. This aggressive sound of TLP068 is brought to you by Vendex! He has found his way, the path of Techno, with a philosophy that envelops him in a cloak of darkness. Influenced by the literature of Dante Alighieri in his work the Divine Comedy, as well as everything related to history, Vendex comes with the intention of creating a path to an inner journey wrapped in dark melodies, blunt and sharp bass that defy the natural , reaching supernatural sounds that touch or even reach what would be the sound of the underworld. Generating sounds that guide the Dantesque idea of a trip in the underworld with the aim of reaching paradise. All this through a forceful and enveloping sound, this creating a path to the nine levels of hell, purgatory and finally reaching paradise. Influenced today in his sessions by artists such as Dax J, Parallx, I Hate Models, Scalameriya, Ancient Methods, Tommy Four Seven or Setaoc Mass and many more. Christoph Heinze, better known as Inhalt der Nacht joins us for our next exclusive Home of Sound podcast. Berlin-born, his sound has been shaped by influences from cold wave and new wave, blended seamlessly with elements of the rock music that he was exposed to in his younger days. Having already established his name as one of the most progressive DJ’s in his genre, Christoph has pioneered his own label: Lebendig from which he pushes fellow Dj’s and artists’ productions alongside his own. 2019 saw Christoph’s track “Dosis'' spread through the underground scene of Berlin like wildfire after it appeared on the compilation album “The World of Monom Black” put out by the illustrious Dax J and his eponymous label . Christoph’s eminence nowadays has granted him residency to some of the biggest clubs across Germany including Griessmühle Berlin, Khidi Tbilisi and Rote Sonne Munich In this chat Christoph talks us through his experiences playing and producing techno and also his experimental explorations with theatre scoring in Cuba and eventually in Germany. We delve into Christoph’s past, recounting his first experiences with the underground scene as well the music that influenced him and provided the foundations to his raw and unbound resonate that we know today. We also look at labels and how artists are nurtured around them, and we get first hand insight into how he became resident of Rote Sonne, Griessemhule and Khidi and get a sense of the ever evolving drive of this artist toward fresh and non conventional sounds. Aside from a long string of releases and gigs under her belt, Electric Indigo is also the founder of female:pressure, an international support network and online database for female, non-binary and non conforming gender artists. Her music and contribution has earned her wide and deep respect from the international music scene that has taken her to play in a long list of well established clubs as well as winning awards such as the “outstanding artist award Musik 2012” and the Kunstpreis Musik 2020 from The Republic of Austria. In this chat, we discover the artists early entry point into the techno scene, as she fortuitously interviewed Underground Resistance members, her work at iconic vinyl store Hardwax in Berlin in the early 90s and her experience running a label and playing throughout three decades. We also find out more about female:pressure and their research project “FACTS survey” which quantifies gender composition of music festivals and events line-ups since 2012. We discuss about the many challenges that non-male, non-white artists may face when working in the music industry, and we leave inspired by Electric Indigo’s take on tackling these challenges with open communication and joint committment with artists, promoters and music lovers. Jamaica Suk is a poly instrumentalist musician, performer, producer and DJ. Besides her residency of Pornceptual she also co-owns her label Gradient. Suk grew up in California and developed a passion for music from a very young age. Having studied piano, flute and bass, she worked as both a jazz and rock musician, before her adoration for electronic music took over and helped ignite her career as a DJ. In all the years she’s put in, Jamaica developed not only a profound relationship with music, but also an incredible work ethic that keeps her in the studio as well as on stage for 6 days a week. Jamaica describes her story from the early days with the music that influenced her career and led her to explore techno on a deeper and more personal level . Rome wasn’t built in a day, and as we see from her achievements, artists’ careers take continuous work and time to materialise. She also gives details on how she got involved in Pornceptual, her approach to deciding what music to release and how she is helping other musicians with 1:1 tutoring. Jamaica shines for her output and technical preparation, and if you continue listening till the end, Suk reveals her secret for continuing to be productive even when inspiration is nowhere to be found. TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ VSK Francesco Visconti, better known as VSK, is an Italian techno dj and producer, born in Rome in 1986 and based in Berlin. Since his earliest youth he has had a huge passion for electronic music, and through hanging out at the famous record store from the Capital “Remix”, he was introduced to the world of djing when he wa only 16 years old. He has got familiar to different forms of techno, his style ranging from a sound usually very hard and dark, often with industrial influences, to a very different one, deeper and more mental, both still easily recognizable as coming from the same mind. At the same time he met the artist Ken Karter, who introduced him to the world of production and mastering. He began an education as an audio-engineer and sound-designer, in music and especially in television, working in different recording studios; currently he does this alongside his artistic career. In 2010 he and his friends Conrad Van Orton and Vilix started their own label “Consumer Recreation Service”, which got immediate support from big names in the international techno scene, currently he has been handling “CRS ltd” series, focused on a darker and more industrial sound. Over the years he has released music on many other important labels such as Ear To Ground, Sonntag Morgen,Genesa, Planet Rhythm, on which he has an important collaboration with the Italian icon Giorgio Gigli, “Silent Age Ep”. In 2016 he also signed an extended six-track Ep with Conrad Van Orton on Developer’s imprint Modularz ( USA) and in 2018 on historical Soma Records under the name of “Symmetrical Behaviuor”. In 2017 he started performing live, both individually and as part of a duo with the Serbian artist Scalameriya. This collaboration brought to several relevant releases on the British labels Power Vacuum and the legendary Perc Trax, as well as leading to their appearance in the MORD box 002. At the same time he took part in the latest VA on the amazing “47” label along with Ancient Methods, OAKE and the label owner Tommy Four Seven. He also signed 47's third solo Ep, following those by Headless Horseman and Killawatt. The artist talks about the challenges of leaving a secure job to focus on music and overcoming pressure from people doubting your work. We chat about Dusk and Haze from before it became a label in 2017 to new plans, including supporting emerging producers access tools and resources. Lag is a Dj and very respected producer, who is strong in creating grooves and rhythms, often offbeat but still dancefloor oriented. His music has made regular appearances on labels such as Mord, Elements, THEM and lately Upperberry, plus a number of remixes on imprints such as Green Fetish Records, Coincidence Records and Metempsychosis Records. Beside being a strong producer and touring DJ, Lag is also an active supporter of up and coming producers with a Twitch live stream and series of feedback sessions. In this chat, we go deep into making offbeat music, why this may / may not work for everyone, and we explore the beginnings of ‘broken techno’. We talk about holding contrasting opinions with people and we also touch on the subjects of anxiety and depression. If this wasn’t enough for a single podcast (both Lag and I could talk forever!), we explore the natural narcissism that affects creators and the evergreen topic of finding fulfillment. Daniela, in art Terr, is a producer, DJ and co-owner of the record label Clash Lion. Originally from Belo Horizonte (Brazil), she moved to Barcelona and lately Berlin to continue pursuing her artist vision. Terr is becoming a household name of the current dance music, with a string of releases on Phantasy Sound, Permanent Vacation, Correspondant, Hotflush, her own Clash Lion and even a remix for Tiga and Audion on Turbo. We chat with Daniela about her artistic path, going from being interested in Rock to honing her craft for Electronic, feeling home in Berlin and connecting with its artist community. As we discover the story behind founding Clash Lion alongside Shall Ocin and Daniel Watts, Terr shares her thoughts on how the friendship and working relationship with other record label owners and artists continuously helps her develop. Alessandro Nero / @kindcrime-recordings https://www.facebook.com/AlessandroNeroXI With more than 10 years of releases with various aliases, including several albums, EPs and dozens of singles, Alessandro Nero is a morbid take on industrial techno, even if his sound is not really characterized by only a certain type of elements and therefore cannot be defined within a single subgenre, in fact it expresses itself through various forms, always remaining coherent and defining itself within the parameters of an industrial proposal, which movement is constantly evolving thanks to direct contamination with other related genres such as acid, ebm, hardcore and breakbeat, but also towards new reinterpretations and less direct influences of urban cultures such as metal and punk in their various facets, therefore both for a purely artistic and personal reason Alessandro Nero wants to project the idea of a futuristic global world that could live a socio-cultural epiphany through the understanding of all modern and effective styles to transmit something sensorially relevant and hence unifier. He has been remixed by artists like Scalameriya, Endlec, JoeFarr, Blush Response, D Carbone or Keepsakes and has great experience in clubs throughout Europe and South America, participating in 2016 in the 25 years of Tresor Berlin and performing in the vast majority of European countries such as England, Holland, France, Germany, Poland, Russia, Italy, Spain, Greece, Hungary and many others. At this point Alessandro Nero can undoubtedly be considered one of the most ruthless instigators of the Sith army. Alessandro has just recently released a 10 original mix album "Mythologies Of Violence in Postmodern Media" on his own label Kindcrime and 1 track in a solidarity VA on the italian Insane Industry. In the following weeks he is also releasing a track in a VA on Sticky Ground and in the following months an ebm techno album on X-IMG, SARIN's label, that will be composed by 7 original mix and 1 remix from Crystal Geometry. He is also working on the first album of 'From Science To Ritual' with singer Elen Payne, an industrial and experimental noise side project that will see the light at the end of this year.
