Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. US bureau chief Jacob Magid joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. If Israel truly implements the 15-point plan proposed by US President Donald Trump's Board of Peace for Gaza -- ostensibly aimed at the disarmament of the Hamas terror group that staged the October 7, 2023, onslaught on southern Israel -- then Israel is required to pull back to the "Yellow Line" that divides the Strip between IDF and Hamas control. On today's episode, Magid asks: Which Yellow Line — the original one that left Israel in control of 53% of the Strip, or the newer one that gave Israel control of 60% to 70% of the territory? He's received several answers in a recent reporting trip to Washington, DC. In a Hollywood-esque moment, during a recent flight from Turkey to the United Kingdom following the G7 summit, US President Donald Trump was taken off Air Force One and transferred in a catering truck to a military plane. The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that this ploy was triggered after Israel told the United States about the Iranian assassination threat. Magid gives the play-by-play and describes who was left on the original, decoy flight. The Israeli military on Tuesday denounced the “illegal, reprehensible and unacceptable” establishment of settler outposts inside Palestinian villages in the West Bank in recent days, but did not explain why it had not dismantled them or why, in a recent example, troops prayed with civilians rather than removing them from the area. Magid rolls out the situation at Qusra, south of Nablus, which is still playing out on Wednesday as senior military officials, including Central Command chief Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth, are meeting with the Palestinian family under siege. Check out The Times of Israel's ongoing liveblog for more updates. Shaun Morash gets his flowers after perfectly predicting that the Yankees would call up George Lombard Jr. immediately after an underwhelming trade deadline to calm an angry fan base. Evan Roberts and Tiki Barber revisit the prediction and debate whether there was ever a legitimate baseball reason to keep Lombard in the minors. The conversation then turns to Anthony Volpe, who is being sent down and will begin playing second base as his future with the Yankees becomes increasingly uncertain. Evan, Tiki and Shaun examine how the organization handled Volpe and Jason Dominguez, whether the Yankees failed to develop their prized prospects, and why Brian Cashman's refusal to use Ben Rice regularly at catcher only makes the roster situation more confusing.
Michael Wolff and Joanna Coles argue that Donald Trump's trip to Camp David wasn't a show of strength but a sign of growing desperation, as he tries to project presidential gravitas while, they contend, becoming trapped in a war he cannot win and surrounded by advisers whose public loyalty masks private disbelief. They break down why Todd Blanche may be discovering the true cost of working for Trump, how a powerful Trump fundraiser is amassing a staggering war chest for his post-White House influence, and why Trump's grip on the Republican Party could outlast his presidency even as his poll numbers slide. Plus, they dissect the unraveling of the James Comey investigation, the bizarre role of Sammy "The Bull" Gravano, the dropped charges against Olympian Davey Hearn, and what Mitch McConnell's prolonged absence says about Washington's aging power structure in a conversation that reveals how the spectacle around Trump may be obscuring far more consequential shifts behind the scenes. Most antioxidants quit after one job. Methylene blue doesn't, and that's the pitch Young Goose founder Amitay Eshel makes in this conversation about where longevity skincare is actually headed. Eshel walks through why his brand maps every product to the 12 hallmarks of skin aging instead of building around a single molecule, the way he says most companies do when they're built to raise money and sell. The bigger reveal is about personalization. Eshel argues that truly custom skincare formulas are a marketing ploy, since FDA rules require formulas to be incubated and tested before they can be sold. The real personalization, he says, is the protocol, not the bottle, which matters for people in overcast climates like Washington who skip sunscreen and assume they're fine. This interview covers Young Goose, biohacking and longevity skincare, methylene blue, copper peptides, exosomes, FDA regulation versus European marketing rules, and how your skin responds to your geolocation. Eshel also breaks down entry points into the brand, from the blue peptide spray he calls the first clinical strength methylene blue product on the market to the higher-end Vampire Exosomes at $285. 0:00 How Young Goose is different in a saturated market 2:18 Regional skin health and the Washington sunscreen problem 4:18 The truth about "personalized" skincare 5:15 US vs Europe on regulation and marketing 6:39 Where to start with the brand 7:18 What methylene blue actually does Like and subscribe for conversations the rest of the media won't bother to have. #Skincare #Longevity #Biohacking #MethyleneBlue #YoungGoose #AntiAging #JasonRantz #Wellness

New York Governor Kathy Hochul is proposing a new tax on second homes in New York City valued at $5 million or more. This 'pied-à-terre' tax aims to address the city's budget deficit by targeting wealthy individuals who primarily reside outside of NYC. Hochul anticipates raising $500 million annually through this surcharge, which would be applied on a sliding scale, taxing higher-value properties at a higher rate. The proposal comes as an alternative to raising taxes on corporations or high earners, a move previously pushed by Mayor Zohran Mamdani. While Mamdani supports Hochul's efforts, the implications for NYC property owners and the overall budget remain a point of contention. Is this a fair solution, or another tax grab? We'll dive into the details and discuss the potential impact.

There are few names as widely loved in clubland as Bristol-based producer Omar McCutcheon, AKA Batu. His label Timedance, currently celebrating its ten-year anniversary, has been instrumental in shaping a certain corner of contemporary electronic music. It champions a mutant, rhythmic, UK-flavoured sound that escapes any obvious genre touchstones, as well as spotlighting the careers of artists like Verraco, Ploy and Hodge who push musical and cultural boundaries. In this Exchange, McCutcheon sat down with Resident Advisor's editor, Gabriel Szatan, in London to reflect on the label's Afrofuturist philosophy, its journey over the past decade and the sense of purpose and direction that have developed over time. He spoke about the impact that scenes beyond the UK—such as China, South Africa, Brazil and Mexico—have had on his productions and label curation, and how they offer fresh perspectives that contrast with Europe's sometimes overly nostalgic take on dance music. He also discussed finding positivity in a dark time, and music's enduring potential to inspire and connect.
California's Prop 50 could completely erase Republican representation in elections. The measure would hand Gov. Gavin Newsom's administration the power to redraw California's congressional districts. Supporters say the measure simply mirrors what Texas has done to strengthen Republican representation, but Hanson argues this is a blatantly partisan effort to cement Democrat control and eliminate what little Republican representation remains in California. He breaks it down on today's episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In a Few Words.” “Gavin Newsom, moreover, when he's been asked about that, he says that he wants to punch these people. I guess he was referring to Republicans in general or the Texas Republicans in particular. He wants to ‘punch them in the mouth.' He said he wants to punch Donald Trump in the mouth. And we in California who are on the conservative side will go from 17% representation—not 40%, of which reflects our actual numbers, but 17%—now to about 9% after Proposition 50 passes.”
Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Colonel Grant Newsham assesses South Korea's leftist President Yoon Suk Yeol, describing him as pro-China and anti-US, despite his vow to increase defense spending. Newsham views this spending partly as a tactical ploy to avoid reliance on US troops. Separately, he highlights Chinese influence and rampant corruption in the US territory of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), which is brazenly seeking $100 million from the USdespite $1.6 billion having vanished.
