Matthew 2:1-12
We all anticipate many things. For God's people, they anticipated the Savior, the Messiah, who was promised to come. Prior to the Messiah would be the forerunner, the one who would "make straight his paths"; John the Baptist who would announce the coming of the Savior. Today, we anticipate his return!

In this homily on Christmas, Father Mattingly reflects on the child Jesus as our savior from sin. Sin is the greatest disease the world has ever seen, and the real joy of Christmas is that we were destined for eternal death, but God came to save us. Fr. Mattingly reflects on the question: are we satisfied with this kind of savior, one whose priority is to rescue us from sin, or do we look for a different kind of savior? Father Andrew Mattingly is a priest for the Diocese of Kansas City – St. Joseph. He is currently the associate pastor at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, as well as the diocesan director for young adults and campus ministry. This episode features his homily on Christmas Day, December 25th, 2021.

I remember when I was 29 years old. My dad was dying with cancer, and I had just made a major career change, my wife was unexpectedly pregnant with our first child. That all happened within a three-month period. It was hard.

To believe in Christmas is to believe in; Something supernatural. Something totally out of the ordinary. Something humanly unexplainable. Christians believe God invaded our world in the form of a tiny baby boy. That's a stunning thought, if you think about it, which we rarely do. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/johnny-mays0/support

Chad preaches about how Christ saves us from the alienating effects of sin.
We are not merely mistakers and bad decision makers that need to try harder to be better. We are sinful rebels that need salvation.

A Sermon from Luke 2:1-20 By the way, there is a math error in the opening of the sermon. Common scholarship tends to hold that Jesus was born sometime between 6BC and 4BC as Herod the Great died in 4 BC. If we assume 6BC we would say 2020 years ago. I said 2010 years ago. What I was hoping to say was somewhere between 2018 and 2020 years ago. Oops.
Our natural inclination is to make much of ourselves rather than make much of Jesus, yet Jesus made himself nothing when he is truly great. This message was given by Pastor Brad Lagos at the Hobart/Portage campus as part of the Songs for a Savior Christmas teaching series.
In a world of pain and chaos and tears, we can still find Jesus our hope. This message was given by Pastor Ray Dix at the Gary campus as part of the Songs for a Savior Christmas teaching series.
Are you trying to please God by good works while totally bypassing the fact that 2,000 years ago God did something amazing in human history by sending Jesus so that you can experience the peace and reconciliation of God through the work of Jesus. This message was given by Pastor Tony Sorci at the Cedar Lake campus as part of the Songs for a Savior Christmas teaching series.
If our delight is truly in Christ, our privilege as beloved children should empower our praise. This message was given by Pastor Steve DeWitt at the Crown Point campus as part of the Songs for a Savior Christmas teaching series.
God's grace to a wretched sinner like me is Magnificat. This message was given by Pastor Steve DeWitt at the Crown Point campus and streamed to Cedar Lake and Hobart/Portage as part of the Songs for a Savior Christmas teaching series.
