Pastor Ethan continues our series, Undivided, in the letter of James with a message on loving everyone equally without favoritism.
Welcome to Christ Community Church of Wilmington NC. We are committed to teaching the Bible, transforming lives, and touching our world.
Favoritism is a sin. No, it's not commonly thought of as a sin today, but is precisely what James tells us today. We should not play favorites anywhere - especially in the church. Join us as we see God's teaching about preferential treatment in the house of God.

Faith and favoritism don't mix. Love is the royal law of the kingdom. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
More broken than we know, more loved than we can comprehend. Welcome to the weekly sermon podcast of Grace Church Bellingham.

This week we'll look at James chapter 2 and the sin of partiality. James warns against attitudes and actions that promote injustice. It's not hard to see how we struggle with this in our day and age. Just like James' hearers, we need to be reminded that God desires that we treat each other in truly human ways. How do we practically do that? Join us Sunday as we discover how God's Word guides us towards spiritual wholeness.

“Yes indeed, it is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you favor some people over others, you are committing a sin. You are guilty of breaking the law.” (James 2:8–9 NLT-SE)

Pastor Marty spoke to how favoritism is inconsistent with our faith in Jesus. He speaks on James 2:1-13 showing the command James gives us to show no favoritism as all are equal in God's eyes. He then gives us four different ways to apply this to our lives.
I find it painful and embarrassing when my own hypocrisy is exposed. Yet, there's a part of me that takes a peculiar satisfaction in identifying hypocrisy in others. Especially the hypocrisy of those who have accused me of hypocrisy. I am very good at spotting your hypocrisy. In fact, as a good pastor should... I keep a spreadsheet. Now of course you might ask, where does Pastor Joe end up on this list… well, I’m not on the list. Keeping track of everyone else’s hypocrisy is a big job, I just don’t have time to track mine. Hypocrisy is a problem, a constant struggle for all of us, correct? So, we need to know how to deal with it. We think of hypocrisy as accusing someone of something we are guilty of as well. But it goes much deeper than that. Our hypocrisy can manifest itself in many different, overt, and subtle ways. Today we are talking about a specific kind of hypocrisy that James says is an important test of our faith. It’s the hypocrisy of discrimination, specifically within the church, showing favor to those who seem more desirable.
I agree with Pastor Ben…when I first heard the title of today’s teaching (“Can’t Buy Me Love”), my mind immediately reverted back to the old song by the Beatles. I almost grabbed my guitar and… On a serious note, in today’s teaching, Pastor Ben reminds us that money has nothing to do with how much God loves us. Our financial or materialistic riches mean absolutely nothing to God. The only riches that God sees in us is in our faith to Him. When our relationship with Jesus is constant, God sees the richness of our hearts. The more that we communicate with Him through prayer, the stronger our relationship with Jesus is. That’s what will get us in to Heaven, despite how much or how little money we have. Each of us is blessed with something different than our brothers. Collectively, it takes the union of every one of us to become one. Together we can help inspire others and bring others to Jesus. Jesus will do the rest of the work from there. Money can’t buy Jesus’ Love, money can only help take the gospel to the world to help give everyone the chance to experience God’s Love. Loving everyone is not always easy. However, Pastor Ben gives us a few key points that will help aid us to love one another as Jesus would… 1. In light of others through Jesus 2. Treat one another in light of grace 3. Treat others in light of God's word 4. In light of God's judgement Reference scripture : Ecclesiasts 5:1-5 ; 1 Samuel 16:7 ; Matthew 7:2 If you are interested in attending our live teachings (Wednesdays @ 7:00 pm & Sundays @ 10:00 am), please visit us at 4218 Boston Ave. Lubbock Texas. In today’s passage James teaches us that we in the church are to learn the culture of heaven, and to live in accordance with the laws of our King. As such, behaviors that may be acceptable in the eyes of the culture around us but are nonetheless antithetical to the Gospel, must be eschewed. Join us as we learn how the priorities of God are to be modeled by us, his children.

We must show mercy to others whether we like them or not. By showing mercy we will receive mercy. Dial down the hate and interject Jesus’ mercy and love into your everyday lives. Sermon Outline @ http://bible.com/events/30494825
Whilst Australia has many egalitarian checks and balances, favouritism still lurks just under the surface. In this message, Peter explains how God desires that we be truly loving people, not just people who love others for what we can get out of them.
Sunday Morning message
Welcome to The Village Church. We are beautiful and broken people connected in Jesus, extending His love.
We are not to show favoritism and partiality. We should see people and love them the way God sees and loves them.
If you have ever flown anywhere, you've probably stood in a line where the first class, business class, and about three other boarding groups boarded the aircraft before you did. While these experiences take place for a variety of reasons, they often leave the person frustrated, slighted, and disheartened that they do not belong, or that they are not in the "in-crowd." How does we as Christians measure up against the world when it comes to playing favorites? Tune in to this week's installment of our sermon series "PUTTING YOUR FAITH TO WORK," as we listen to James' advise on the matter.
