When it comes to theater, New York is the place to be for the biggest shows and stars. While many actors spend careers working in theater, dramas and musicals also offer Hollywood's biggest stars an opportunity to mix things up. Take the current run of "Othello," starring Academy Award winner Denzel Washington and Oscar-nominee Jake Gyllenhaal. George Clooney is performing in "Good Night, and Good Luck," an adaptation of the Oscar-nominated film he co-wrote and directed. There's also "Smash," which is a musical adaptation of the TV series. In this week's episode, co-host Bruce Miller talks about his love for the theater and what he plans to see during a week-long trip to New York. About the show Streamed & Screened is a podcast about movies and TV hosted by Bruce Miller, a longtime entertainment reporter who is now the editor of the Sioux City Journal in Iowa and Terry Lipshetz, a senior producer for Lee Enterprises based in Madison, Wisconsin. I'm really excited to share this powerful conversation with you because I got to sit down with my dear friend and transformational leader, Veronica de Andrés. Veronica is a global expert in emotional intelligence, a bestselling author of Total Confidence, and someone whose work has reached over half a million people around the world. She's known for her big heart, her deep wisdom, and her ability to inspire real change—and in this episode, we dive into her latest book, The Habits of Good Luck. This book explores seven core habits that lucky people actually practice. Spoiler: luck isn't random—it's a result of who you are and what you choose daily. We also talk about how Veronica navigated one of the most painful periods of her life—when her entire family moved 10,000 kilometers away—and how she used these habits to rebuild herself from the inside out. Whether you're working through a challenge or just want to invite more opportunity and joy into your life, I think you'll find this conversation deeply inspiring. In this episode, we explore: Why self-confidence is the first habit of good luck—and how to build it even when you don't feel ready. How to turn discomfort into growth, and why the things that scare you are usually where your breakthrough is hiding. Veronica's “empty house” story—and how she turned deep heartbreak into an annual family reunion in Europe. The 7 habits lucky people live by, and how small daily changes can lead to big life shifts. How to shift from the pressure of “should” to the joy of “want” when it comes to your health and well-being. Why your words create your reality—and how to upgrade the way you talk to yourself. The power of inner connection—through meditation, prayer, or simply pausing to listen to your own inner wisdom. How gratitude can transform your emotions, your health, and your entire life outlook. The drama involves exes, hurt feelings, and Victoria allegedly losing sleep while David plays Instagram diplomat. Basically, it's a family feud with better shoes. Next up, George Clooney's Good Night, and Good Luck is Broadway's new money machine, raking in over $4 million in a single week. It's got critical acclaim, Tony nominations, and Clooney charm. Grab your nostalgia goggles: the 10 Things I Hate About You reboot is real, and director Gil Junger wants to make it a trilogy. First up? 10 Things I Hate About Dating, followed by Marriage and Kids. The obstacles may be vast, but it's at this point that you 'throw your hat over the fence,' or in other words, 'just go for it!' “In my experience, most people don't know what they are good at—what they are naturally good at. So sometimes you have to find one or kind of create one for yourself. You have got to put food on the table and send your kid to school. So, there are those reasons. I think if we are good girls or boys, we try to fulfill the expectations that are inevitably held for us. If we're bad girls and bad boys, we're fighting against those expectations. But in either case, we're still being driven by other people's expectations. It often takes time, maturity, mistakes and even unhappiness to lead you to what you really want to do–to start to find what it is that makes you excited in the morning, that makes you want to be doing whatever it is that you want to do.”

“And I think that's what reading is… It's a personal interpretation of the story, and it may not be the same as somebody else's. That's the whole idea of a good teacher. There should be different interpretations, and sometimes a student will come up with something that I never thought of.” —Sharon M. Draper  Give a story to twenty kids, and you might get twenty different takeaways. Some will catch the details you didn't even notice. Others will pull out meaning that wasn't intentionally placed, but rings true all the same. Sharon M. Draper writes for everyone and fiercely advocates for students' right to read for themselves.Sharon knows the capacity of a book to transport and transform kids; she was the kid who maxed out her library card every Saturday at the Cleveland Public Library. She then became the teacher who read aloud to even the most skeptical students, and the writer whose bestselling novel "Out of My Mind," which was adapted into a film for Disney+ and remains requisite reading for many middle schoolers year after year. A two-time Coretta Scott King Award winner, Sharon is the author of "Stella by Starlight," "Blended," "Tears of a Tiger," and many, many more.In this episode, "Good Luck, They're Yours: Sharon Draper on Giving Students Room to Read," Sharon discusses what it means to trust readers, how her students helped guide her first book, and seeing her stories banned in classrooms. We also talk about church music, spiked lemonade, and how she ended up with a special library card that gave her access to the library's adult section, even as a child. When we asked Sharon to come up with a reading challenge, she was reluctant to give us a list of must-reads. Maybe that's not surprising, given her past frustrations with inflexible required reading lists. In true teacher fashion, she flipped the assignment and gave us a lesson plan. This week's Beanstack featured Librarian is William Schaller, the middle school librarian at Hoffman Middle School in Houston, Texas, for the past seven years! William shares his secret sauce for getting kids excited about reading. Show ChaptersChapter 1 - The Reader KidChapter 2 - Spike Lemonade and Porch StoriesChapter 3 - Shut Up and Say You Like ItChapter 4 - We Never Say That in the Locker RoomChapter 5 - Student TeachersChapter 6 - Reading ChallengeChapter 7 - Beanstack Featured LibrarianLinksThe Reading CultureThe Reading Culture Newsletter SignupFollow The Reading Culture on Instagram (for giveaways and bonus content)Sharon DraperSharon Draper InstagramCleveland Public LibraryUp the Down StaircaseSharon M. Pope Francis, the leader of the Roman Catholic Church, has died at the age of 88. During his papacy, Francis challenged the church's deeply rooted norms and made it his mission to change the perception of the Catholic Church around the world. Pope Francis, hours before his death, marked Easter Sunday with an appearance at St. Peter's Basilica. Much to the glee of faithful in the courtyard, Francis rode in the popemobile a mere three weeks after he was released from a five-week life-threatening stay in the hospital. CBS News' Chris Livesay reports from Rome. Tributes from around the world have begun to pour in, including one from Vice President JD Vance, one of the last people to have a meeting with Francis before his death. CBS News' Ed O'Keefe reports from the White House. John Allen, a longtime observer of the Catholic Church and editor of the Catholic news site "The Crux," reacts to Pope Francis' death. And Candida Moss, CBS News papal contributor, discusses Francis' legacy. George Clooney made his Broadway debut in "Good Night, and Good Luck," playing CBS News legend Edward R. Murrow. Clooney talks to "CBS Mornings" co-host Gayle King about preparing for the role in our "Road to the Tonys" series. Jasmine Amy Rogers has been called "Broadway's newest star" for her standout performance as Betty Boop in "BOOP! The Musical." The actress talks to "CBS Mornings" about navigating the colorful role and how it has impacted her. Organizers of the Boston Marathon are marking a milestone on Monday — 50 years since trailblazing wheelchair athlete Bob Hall helped change who is allowed to compete. "CBS Saturday Morning" co-host Dana Jacobson has his remarkable story. As we wish the world a Happy Easter, we thought what better occasion for INXS: Access all Areas to deep dive on that pop culture touchstone of highlighting INXS' very own Easter Eggs, that being the trail of cultural touchstones they have left behind over some 48 years. As with movies, books and music, artists often leave a trail and footprint in the cultural zeitgeist through multiple platforms such as movies, lyrics, sports and film clips and INXS are no different. So Bee and I have great fun in this episode locating these cool little nuggets in some obvious and obscure places. We kick things off, pardon the pun at the peak of INXS' international fame between 1987-1990 and divert into the world of movie and TV soundtracks. We then take a left turn to sports and bring it home with something more ethereal like religion, faith and spirituality. All whilst not taking ourselves too seriously!!! So for all of you adults out there who seem to miss out on the Easter Bunny chocolate fix, sit back and get your own very dose and dollop of INXS Easter Eggs!!
