Draft-Eve Plans and Live Coverage Draft eve in Detroit. The Detroit Lions Podcast went live with Russell Brown, Scott Bischoff, Chris, and Jeff Risdon. The crew laid out a busy week and took questions. Brown will be on WJR with Anthony Collins and Lomas Brown from 6 to 7 PM on Thursday. It could run longer. No. 2 Overall: David Bailey vs Arvel Reed The conversation centered on the Jets at pick two. Two names led the talk: David Bailey and Arvel Reed. The hosts are not enamored with Bailey's full profile. They acknowledged his explosive, linear pass rush. That first step stresses college tackles. It can stress NFL tackles too. But they see a lacking run defender. That is a concern at the top of the board. Reed's profile is different. He comes from Ohio State and is not a finished product. He tested like a premium athlete. Around 240 to 241 pounds. Speed in the mid 4.4s. He flashes when he rushes, but the room sees him starting as a stacked linebacker. The Micah Parsons talk does not land for them. If he must begin off the ball, they questioned if that is a player you take second overall. Smoke remains thick. Maybe it is Bailey. Maybe the Jets have played months of misdirection. Other names were mentioned as possible wild cards, from Mansoor Ford Delaney to downs. If the card read Caleb Brown, it would make sense to them. One more wrinkle: Bailey's media hits, including SNY, did not sound like deep pre-draft engagement beyond a dinner. Even so, a final mock tonight would still slide Bailey to the Jets. A stacked linebacker at two reshapes the early run at edge rusher. A true linear edge at two affects the second wave of offensive and defensive options. The September 6, 1901, assassination of President William McKinley by self-professed anarchist Leon Czolgosz triggered a nationwide political backlash against the killer's like-minded political adherents. It also served as the catalyst for the expansion of nascent federal government surveillance capabilities used against not only anarchists but socialists and members of other social or political movements that were challenging the prevailing political, economic, and social paradigms of the day. And it was the ensuing, decades-long persistent exaggerations of domestic political threats from those movements that drove an exponential increase in the frequency and scale of unlawful government surveillance and related political repression against hundreds of thousands of individual Americans and civil society organizations.The Triumph of Fear is a history of the rise and expansion of surveillance-enabled political repression in America from the late 1890s to early 1961. Drawing on declassified government documents (many obtained via dozens of Freedom of Information Act requests and lawsuits) and other primary sources, Cato Institute senior fellow Patrick Eddington offers historians, legal scholars, political leaders, and general readers surprising new revelations about the scope of government surveillance programs and how this domestic spying helped fuel federal assaults on free speech and association that continue to this day. The work the Lord has given us is a gift. When we are close enough to him to perceive that fact, we can see ourselves as the answer for whatever manner of situation we find ourselves in. It's our love for him and the perspective that comes with that love that makes the work a joy. This is the attitude that David had. He was the man to save the day because he knew who his God was and therefore who he was. I'm honored to have Caleb Brown join us on the podcast today. Caleb is the co-founder of New Planner Recruiting, which we have mentioned several times on this podcast before.  This recruiting firm specializes in sourcing, screening, and integrating financial planners in firms nationwide. As we reflected on all that we've learned during our 3 part series (What is a Man? What is a Family? & What is Nation?), we could not help but celebrate the transformation brought about by our father as we have turned with all of our hearts to seek him. We marveled at the growth that has taken place in our lives as result of being challenged with our idolatrous views and re-imaging of God. As a result, we better are reflecting his full image more fervently and more accurately. And yet, there is so much still to learn about ALL of his ways and even more so in attempting to reflect ALL of his ways. This message from brothers Caleb Brown, Abimbola Daramola, and Justin Linton was a call to inspire us to rise up as a holy, anointed nation of priests and set our hearts to pursue all of God's character! In Episode 283 Jeff Belanger and Ray Auger explore the former Rhode Island State Burial Grounds in Cranston, searching for the place where Grave 599 was exhumed in November 1883. The remains of Caleb Brown were being retrieved by an undertaker hired by his sister to be reinterred in a family plot. When the grave was exposed it was discovered that Brown's head was missing.
