In this week's sermon we look at Psalm 34:8: "Taste and see that the Lord is good, blessed are those who take refuge in Him." We look at what the word "good" really is and means, what it means to taste and see, and how to go about doing it. We're glad that you made it to this sermon! We are also available on Youtube. Most Christians thank God for providing their meals. But we should thank God not just for providing us with a meal but for creating our food in the first place!

Certain TASTES can bring back the REALITY of a previous experience. I just experienced that while traveling to Norway. Similarly, in Psalm 34:8, God asks us to TASTE and see THAT the LORD IS GOOD. God asks us to capitalize on using the gift of tasting to help us remember reality. Join me for 7 minutes as I remember some of the tastes of Norway, as well as some of the tastes of Psalms. This Sunday, we're stepping into 1 Peter 2 and continuing our journey through this powerful letter. Peter begins by showing us how love for one another is not just a command, it's the visible evidence of Christ at work in us. But he doesn't stop there. He warns us of five destructive behaviors: malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander. These things sabotage our community and damage our witness. They are not simply bad habits; they're soul-level toxins that erode trust and fracture unity in the body of Christ. If we've tasted the goodness of God, we should crave the things that nourish us spiritually - His Word, His Spirit, His people, and prayer.Peter then paints a beautiful picture of who we are becoming together. Individually, we're like newborns growing in grace; collectively, we are being built into a spiritual house. Jesus, the cornerstone, is the foundation for it all. Even though the world may reject Him, and us by extension, God sees His Church as chosen and precious. Each of us plays a role in this sacred structure, and we're all priests called to offer our lives in worship. There's no hierarchy here, just one Savior, one Spirit, and one mission. In a time when the church is often criticized for its flaws, Peter reminds us that we're not just a gathering, we're being shaped into something eternal. This calling comes with a responsibility: to live honorably, love sincerely, and shine brightly in a dark world. I look forward to unpacking this with you and challenging us all to consider what kind of “spiritual house” we're helping to build. Come prayed up and hungry for the Word.
Psalm 34 is an anchor passage for many believers, written by David in a moment of fear and failure, yet filled with praise and hope. From the cave where David hid, he reminds us to “taste and see that the Lord is good.” This psalm shows us how God meets us in our deepest fears and longings, and invites us into a life shaped not by fear or misplaced desire, but by trust in Him.Here are some things we'll learn from Psalm 34:· How David's story shows us that fear can distort our choices, but also how God redeems our failures.· Why the “fear of the Lord” is not paralyzing, but transforming. It is teaching us to take God seriously and find protection and refuge in Him.· How our desires, when misdirected, can enslave us, but when set on the Lord lead to true abundance.· The invitation to taste and see God's goodness firsthand, not through secondhand accounts, but in personal experience with Him.· How Jesus fulfills the promises of Psalm 34, becoming what we were not so that we can become who God created us to be.Support our mission and learn more atwww.alloflife.churchGive to the work of the gospel herewww.alloflife.churchcenter.com/giving

Psalms: Taste and See Vol. III - Psalms 22 by Gospel Centered Mission Focused
Sermon Summary:David's story in Psalm 34 reveals the battle between faith and fear that plays out in our hearts like spiritual musical chairs. After defeating Goliath, David found himself running for his life from King Saul, driven by fear to make devastating choices: lying to priests, stealing sacred items, and humiliating himself by drooling on his beard in enemy territory. Yet from his lowest point hiding in a cave with 400 social outcasts, David penned one of Scripture's most powerful declarations of God's faithfulness. The psalm teaches us that worship isn't just for good times but becomes our pre-decision to bless God regardless of circumstances. Like a magnifying glass doesn't make objects bigger but adjusts our perspective, worship makes God bigger in our field of vision until He's in proper proportion to our problems. David discovered that we become radiant when we look to God instead of our circumstances, reflecting whatever we're beholding.Fear represents misplaced trust in temporary situations, while faith places trust in the King over our circumstances. David learned to "taste and see" God's goodness not just in victory but in failure, shame, and desperation. This tasting goes deeper than observation, allowing God's character to become part of our spiritual DNA.Our caves aren't punishment but preparation. God never wastes trials but uses them to transform us from the inside out. The same God who met David in his cave of fear wants to meet us in ours, teaching us that our circumstances don't determine our God but our God determines how we handle our circumstances.

Looking away from ourselves to the LORD I AM makes us shine. It's like the way sunlight hits the water and makes it shimmer. Light makes a rather dull creek look like a ribbon of gold winding through green woods. We get lit up by the radiance of God. Our lives are warmed from within. Our words and faces sparkle with hope and peace.
