Preaching and teaching from the pulpit of Riverview Baptist Church in Seymour Wisconsin
Those of us that have received Jesus Christ as our Saviour have received the gospel. Our understanding has been opened that He died, was buried, and that He rose again the third day. We are witnesses of these things. We have received the gospel. Nothing we have to give is as powerful and life changing as the gospel.
Some things remain a mystery to us in the Word of God, but some things are perfectly clear to all. We are going to understand when we conclude with this passage that it is very clear to all of us that if we obey the Lord, He will give us great reward. If we disobey the Lord, it will bring great ruin.
This is message 63 in the Isaiah series. The Earth is My Footstool Isaiah 66:1-24 God declares His greatness and sovereignty by reminding us that He cannot be contained by temples or human traditions. True worship begins with a humble heart that trembles at His Word. Isaiah's final message reveals a God who will judge false religion, restore His people, establish His Kingdom, and make His glory known to all nations. His plan will not fail. The Messiah has come, He will reign, and every nation will see His power. The call is clear: worship God with sincerity, trust in His promises, and be ready for the day when His glory fills the earth. This is message 62 in the Isaiah series. Isaiah 65:18-24 The Millennial Kingdom will be a time of joy, peace, and restoration unlike anything the world has ever known. God will transform Jerusalem into a place of rejoicing, extend long life and prosperity to His people, and rule with perfect justice. Prayers will be answered before they are even spoken, the curse will be rolled back, and even nature will be at peace. But this kingdom is not only about what is coming—it is a call to prepare now. Only those who know Christ will enter, and those who have been redeemed are called to bring others with them into the joy of that everlasting reign. This is message 21 in The Power of God's Name Genesis 4:16-5:32 The descendants of Cain built a society that advanced in culture but drifted far from God, marked by rebellion, pride, and self-sufficiency. In contrast, the line of Seth began to call upon the name of the Lord, openly declaring their dependence on Him. This contrast reveals the spiritual divide between those who live without God and those who walk in faith, showing that true hope and redemption are found only when people humbly turn to the Lord and identify themselves with Him. Each year, business magazines list the richest people in the world. All of this may be interesting, but the real question is, "Who is rich toward God?" Nothing we earn or gather from this world can by itself ever be considered true riches. God has something else in mind when He speaks about "true riches."
This is message 61 in the Isaiah series. Isaiah 65:1-16 God offers Himself freely, even to those who do not seek Him, but when pride, false worship, and stubborn hearts refuse His grace, judgement will come. While many go their own way and face ruin, God always preserves a faithful remnant who trust in Him, He will bless those who call on His name and separate them from those who reject Him. The difference is not in status or Ritual but in who truly belongs to the Lord. This is message 60 in the Isaiah series. Isaiah 64:1-12 When people stop calling on the name of the Lord, they lose the nearness of God, the power of answered prayer, and the shaping work of His hand. Isaiah cries out for mercy, not from a place of innocence, but from a deep awareness that silence toward God leads to spiritual ruin. Only when people turn back to the Lord in Faith, repentance, and dependence can they be restored, shaped and delivered. Our God is an all-wise God. In His wisdom, He has designed our lives so that by living it properly in time, we make the greatest investment for etermity. Think of what God has done to devise such a plan for our lives. He connects "now" and "then."
This is message 59 in the Isaiah series. Isaiah 63:1-19 God acts in righteousness and mercy to make His name known. He judges sin, redeems the repentant, and keeps His promises not because anyone deserves it but because He is holy, faithful, and true. Every work he performs point back to Himself, and every act of deliverance declares His glory. Even when people fail, His purpose stands. He will not be forgotten. This is message 58 in the Isaiah series. Isaiah 61:1-11 The Spirit of the Lord brings healing, liberty, and restoration to those who are broken and bound. When Jesus read these words in the synagogue at Nazareth, He declared that this work had begun in Him. Instead of bringing the vengeance many expected, He offered grace to all who would believe. Though rejected by His own, He continued His mission to seek and to save. His invitation still stands, calling the weary and wounded to trust in the only one who can truly restore. This is message 20 in The Power of God's Name 2 Thessalonians 3:6-15 God calls His people to walk in order and obedience under the authority of His name. When believers refuse to work, stir up strife, or reject godly instruction, it dishonors Christ and weakens the church. Paul's command is clear: work quietly, live responsibly, and continue in well-doing without giving in to weariness. When discipline is necessary, it must be carried out with love and the hope of restoration, so that the name of the Lord remains honored among His people. Most people have the idea that we are going to answer to God some day for how much we have done. Nothing could be further from the truth. Some have the idea that we are going to answer to God for what we have done. That may be a little closer to the truth, but it is still not the answer. We are going to answer to God for what we have done with what God has given us and for what we could have done.
This is message 57 in the Isaiah series. Isaiah 60:1-22 God calls His people to rise and reflect His glory, promising to restore what was broken, to gather the nations to Himself, and to dwell with His people in Lasting righteousness and peace. His light will replace all darkness, and His presence will become the everlasting joy of those who belong to Him. What we do with our time is what we do with our lives. Time is a gift from God. What we do with our time can be our gift to God. If we are convinced we shall answer to God for what we did with our lives, then we should also be convinced that we must answer to Him for our time.
This is message 56 in the Isaiah series. Isaiah 59:1-21 Sin separates, but the Lord still saves. Though man is cut off by guilt and blinded by rebellion, God does not leave him without hope. In holiness, He exposes sin; in mercy, He steps in to redeem. The fear of His name is not terror but reverence, as He reveals Himself as both Judge and Redeemer. This is message 19 in The Power of God's Name Acts 15:14 God has always been at work To take out a people for His name- people who would reflect HIs character, declare His glory, and walk in obedience to His will. From the beginning with Adam, through Noah, Abraham, and Israel, to the calling of the disciples and the inclusion of the Gentiles, His purpose has not changed. The church today carries that same calling, to live as His holy people and proclaim His greatness. The truly rich are not necessarily rich in the things of this world. Those who know the true and living God recognize that He is the One who holds the deed to all that has worth in this world, and the things of true worth in this world are connected with the world to come.
This is message 18 in The Power of God's Name Ezekiel 20:7-44 God's people had polluted His name through idolatry, rebellion, and hypocrisy, dragging His reputation through the dust by how they lived. Yet God, for the sake of His name, showed mercy. He corrected, He chastened, and He promised restoration, not because they were worthy but because His name is holy and cannot be left in reproach. God begins the subject of stewardship in the very first chapter of the Bible. Typically, when the word "stewardship" is mentioned, most people think of money. It involves much more than money. It involves all our response to God in life.

Christ's High Priestly Prayer brings us back to what matters most. Jesus Christ demonstrated His love for us by going to the cross to pay our sin debt. Because of what God has done for us, we ought to do with our lives what He desires. Out of our relationship and fellowship with Him, we can move in the direction that God gives us. If your name is written in heaven, then everything you do as a Christian ought to flow from that reality.

Christ is praying that His followers would be one with God the Father, one with God the Son, one with God the Holy Spirit, and one with each other. When He prays for those who will also believe because of the word the disciples will give, He is praying for His future followers. All believers in every century have in common the same Saviour, the same Word, the same Holy Spirit, and the same glory.
This is message 49 in the Isaiah series. Isaiah 51:1-52:10 God calls His people to wake up, remember His promises, and trust His power to save. Sanctification and Christian service cannot be separated. God sanctifies us through His Son, through His Word, and through His Holy Spirit. This is message 46 in the Isaiah series. Isaiah 48:1-22 The Lord who teaches His people to profit calls them to trust His Word, follow His ways, and experience the peace and blessing He has prepared. This is message 14 in The Power of God's Name Psalm 20:1-9 This psalm reminds believers that victory in life's battles doesn't come from strength, strategy, or resources-- but from remembering the name of the Lord our God. The people stand with confidence before the battle ever began, not in themselves but in the God who defends, provides, heals, and leads. To trust His name is to trust His character. Every name He gives in Scripture reveals who He is and what He has promised. The greatest way to understand and know the Lord Jesus is to study His prayer life. In John 17:15-16, Christ is praying for those who are in the strength of life who get discouraged about a matter, and think, "I want out of here. I know I will go to heaven and be with the Lord. I would just like to go on." Our Lord Jesus would not pray for that because we need laborers for the Lord's work. He is praying for God the Father to keep us from the evil so that we can minister to others around us.
This is message 42 in the Isaiah series. Isaiah 44:1-25 The Lord declares Himself as thy Redeemer--personal, powerful, and faithful. He formed His people, called them His own, and promises to pour out His spirit upon the,. In contrast to the lifeless idols crafted by human hands, God alone is eternal, sovereign, and able to declare the future. He blots out sin like a vanishing cloud and invites His people to return to him, not in fear, but in trust and praise.
