How important is it “To Be Kind”? And yet, how exceedingly difficult it may be as we encounter others who are not kind. It's important to know the Lord's character is good, kind, and loving. His lovingkindness never fails. So then, to emulate and demonstrate our love to Him would include to deliberately be kind to others. Sometimes that requires forgiveness. Your feedback is always welcome at https://CarinJayneCasey.com. Video: https://youtu.be/2OcDs2r3VBYAudio: https://buzzsprout.com/1275572#tobekind #godsloveneverfails #heiskind #wwjd #saynotothedevil #fruitofthespirit #Turn2GodwCarin #swordofthespirit

Ahora me siento bastante optimista.

Swans started in the early '80s with a brutal sound gradually became more subtle and textured. The band broke up in 1995 after ten albums (and three other releases under the name World of Skin), then Michael released a couple of solo albums and six alt-country releases as Angels of Light before starting a new chapter of Swans in 2010 which has now released its sixth album. We discuss "Michael Is Done" from The Beggar (2023), "It's Coming It's Real" from Leaving Meaning (2019), and "Power for Power" from Filth (1983). You then get to hear Michael's opus "The Beggar Lovers (Three)," also from the new album. Intro: "Screen Shot" from To Be Kind (2014). Hear more at swans.bandcamp.com. We have to choose to let annoyances pass, to forgive, to be kind, to respect, to support, to be faithful. Sometimes it’s easy and sometimes it’s incredibly hard, but it is up to us to choose how we want to act, think and speak. Life can change in an instant. Make sure you appreciate what you have, while you still have it.

Anthony's got Brett Hart, one of the members of local art space The Red Museum, to talk about how to keep our arts scene living and breathing. Plus, preservationist, historian (and so much more) William Burg joins us to talk about the Central City Specific Plan and how it could shape the grid as we know it. It's one of those conversations where Anthony's very clearly out of his depth. Also, we've got Dave Kempa back to close out his coverage of the trial that sought to bring down the camping ban. You'll want to listen to this right away, as William's got a call to action for you that's got a deadline of Nov. 8. Hop to it. Music provided ever so graciously by Blue Oaks, all from the new album "To Be Kind is Sin." Intro is the title track, interstitial bits are from "Nicotine" and the closer is "Sand and Skin." Listen to (and purchase, of course) the album here.

Ready to make some noise? Swans has enough to go around. The veteran Noise Rock band that reformed after its 13-year slumber is back to mesmerizing audiences with their garbled, often fearsome tones. This week, we tackle Swans' most recent experiment, a two-disc set called To Be Kind. We review it all here, so strap in for today's special extended podcast. And, as many of these tracks breech well into the double digits, we finally take some time to discuss that very thing: time (in music). Just what does "track length" mean for us? Is a generous run-time the mark of ambition, genius, or a lack of self-awareness? From past trends to future predicitons, we field our thoughts; now let's hear yours! Continue reading
