Tripp talks holiday sales, his sister and his daughter (with pride)
Bumming some Wi-Fi, the creative juices of a day job, and the gateway to the San Juan Islands. "Like the coziness of nostalgia, the 4-track tape recorder is immediately evident during the guitar jangle that opens “Blue Eyed Open Sky”. Recorded in a tent cabin on a river in the musician's hometown of Big Sur, California, the lo-fi aesthetic of Richard Tripps sophomore album was a deliberate choice, inspired by the analogue charm of tape, where the musician's formative demos crossed paths with key influences like the VU and fellow Big Sur psych-folk outfit The Range of Light Wilderness." While on a search for more information on her great-grandmother, my guest Michelle Graff uncovered a fascinating mystery involving the very suspicious 1899 death of a fifteen-year-old girl named Sarah Mumford, whose body had been hit by a train, assumably to cover up a murder. The following investigation, led by the local coroner, would reveal some very dark details about Sarah's relationship to her adoptive family, the Tripps. Michelle Graff is the author of "Hidden: The Unsolved Mystery of Sarah Mumford." Have you taken time to slow down lately?Hey friends! We just wanted to take a moment during this super busy time of year to encourage you. We see you, and as parents, we know that it's so easy to slip into the trap of feeling pressure to do it all. So here's your reminder to slow down and focus on what's in front of you.We know we all want to bless our kids and give them good gifts (and there's nothing wrong with that!).. But the reality is that years down the road, your kids are going to look back most fondly on the memories that were made, and not the gifts they received. So let this short message be the nudge that you need to take a deep breath and just enjoy this season. Focus on being present with your family, and not quite as much on the presents under the tree. And most importantly, let's remember that if it weren't for the birth of Jesus, we wouldn't be celebrating at all.We love you, friends! You are doing a great job. Merry Christmas from the Tripps!Episode Highlights: Hello from our car!Take a deep breath & slow down.Encouragement to parents.Merry Christmas!Links Mentioned in Episode/Find More on Ryan and Shannon:Follow Shannon on InstagramFollow Ryan on InstagramVisit Shannon's WebsiteThis show has been produced by Adkins Media Co.
What dreams do you have?In today's episode, Shannon and Ryan share about money and how it can be used to accomplish your dreams. So often, people get stuck in a mindset that their dreams and goals are not attainable. The reality is that God wants you to live an abundant life, and your plans are on the other side of obedience. We live in a world of endless opportunities. There are so many ways to make extra money. You must first set your goals, be willing to work towards them, and make sacrifices for what matters most. When the Tripps decided to save up and move to Hawaii - it took planning. They had to save money to follow through with their decision. They stopped eating out at restaurants, stopped shopping for things that weren't necessities, and cut back on extracurricular activities. Instead, they put the money they would have spent on those things into their Hawaii fund.Today's episode is full of encouragement to live life to the fullest. We invite you to tune in and gather the inspiration you need to start chasing your dreams.Episode Highlights: A talk about money. How a desire to do good ties into finances. Why money matters. The importance of believing in yourself.A talk on making sacrifices for what matters most.Links Mentioned in Episode/Find More on Ryan and Shannon:Follow Shannon on InstagramFollow Ryan on InstagramVisit Shannon's WebsiteGet Shannon's Choking and CPR Course HEREGet Your FREE Choking Download HERE
