On this LIVE episode of the Super Retro Podcast, we took a trip back in time and counted down some of the most nostalgic things we used to make out of paper. We fired up another round of This or That featuring some iconic NES classics, reminisced about those legendary 6-disc CD changers that somehow found their way into trunks, center consoles, glove compartments, and under seats, and talked about the simple joy of walking to the corner store for an ice-cold Clearly Canadian. We also showed some love to marbles, reviewed the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie, brought you the latest Nostalgic News of the Week, hit the Discord Drops, and checked out some absolute heat during Fit Check. Plus, Tuck spotlighted the new Mumford & Sons and Sierra Ferrell track “Here” in Tuck's Music Corner.
Big Fat Five: A Podcast Financially Supported by Big Fat Snare Drum
Welcome back to Drummers on Drumming, powered by Big Fat Snare Drum. This week on The Drum Panel, I'm joined by my co-host Eric Urrea, an independent drummer from Chicago who plays with Marina City and La Armada, and Steve Durham, who is new to The Drum Panel but returning from Big Fat Five. Steve has worked with artists like Louis Tomlinson, Mumford & Sons, Foals, Wolf Alice, Aurora and a bunch of others. But the reason I wanted him in this conversation is because we'd recently been talking about that voice in your head when you're playing. The one that judges your ideas before they even come out. So that became the jumping-off point. We got into the inner critic, why creativity can feel scary when there's no structure, what changes when you stop trying so hard, how tension shows up in your body, playing to a click without becoming stiff, and whether being in a band is still worth it. It's a good one. Very Drum Panel. --- Get Your Copy of the Drummers on Drumming Book Today!
May is Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM), which annually celebrates the history, culture, and contributions of Jewish Americans to the United States. As JAHM concludes, I am very excited that singers, songwriters, and bandmates Max Bartos & Jake Kitchin are the final guests on this Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar special series! Max is New York's resident motherfolker! His folk and Americana music pairs introspective lyricism with anthemic folk-rock energy. As the frontman of Max Bartos and the Motherfolkers, the crafts songs are rooted in storytelling and emotional honesty, with a modern acoustic sound shaped by influences such as Mumford & Sons and Noah Kahan. His latest release, Waiting At The Crossroads (2025) captures a defining chapter in his artistic evolution, expanding his folk and Americana foundation with richer dynamics and a more confident, fully realized identity. Fresh off a 30-date U.S. tour with The Misfit Toys, he continues to build momentum on the road. This spring, he joined acclaimed singer-songwriter Brendan James as direct support on a 14-date national tour from March 11 through April 1, further cementing his reputation as a compelling and emotionally resonant live act. Recently signed with Noble Steed Music, Max is steadily carving out his place in the modern folk landscape through intentional songwriting, immersive performances, and a growing catalog that connects deeply with listeners.Jake Kitchin has had a passion for the arts ever since he was young. Having grown up as a professional actor in New York City with a deep love for tap dancing, he has had the opportunity to work with people such as Steve Martin and Walter Bobbie. In 2023, he graduated magna cum laude with a BFA from Marymount Manhattan College. In 2020 and 2021, he was honored to sing on stage at Madison Square Garden during The Eagles' Hotel California Tour. In addition to performing as an actor, Jake is also a skilled multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. He plays guitar, mandolin, and bass, drawing inspiration from folk, blues, bluegrass, jazz, and classic rock. He currently plays mandolin live and in the studio for Max Bartos and the Motherfolkers, a folk/bluegrass-inspired project. In Spring 2025, Jake released his debut album - a collection of jazz standards titled On a Clear Day. He is currently preparing to record and release an album of his original folk music. On this episode of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Max Bartos & Jake Kitchin shared how they met, how they deal with antisemitism and anti-Zionism in the music industry and on social media, and how they opened for Rita Wilson.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/jake-s-take-with-jacob-elyachar--4112003/support.
It's time to bid adieu once and for all to that wretched Josh Gad dog spirit as we close out our canine duology with the final Amblin W. Bruce Cameron adaptation to date (please god let that remain the case), 2019's A DOG'S JOURNEY. Glutton-for-punishment Harley Mumford re-joins us to once again dig into the exploits of Bailey, who this time is tasked with ensuring each reincarnation tracks down CJ, the granddaughter of Ethan, to keep her on the straight-and-narrow and ensure she remains unblinkingly judgemental of everyone she encounters who isn't an angelic corn-fed dog-lover (Editor's Note: Rein it in, Josh). You can follow Harley and Fandomentals on Instagram and Bluesky, as well as listen to his catalogue of episodes wherever you're listening to this podcast.
The stopwatch Nationals are well underway as we head toward the Pala kickoff but listen up, we have Enzo Lopes on to talk about his recent successes and the Brazilian fans always love that. Carson Mumford is on to talk about his plans for the summer. We've got two of the coolest cucumbers in the scene in studio. KEEFER AND FILTHY!!. GREAT SHOW!!

A staple of the folk-rock genre, few people wouldn't recognise the name or work of Mumford & Sons. Following only a year after the release of their fifth studio album, Rushmere, was their sixth album Prizefighter, released in February this year. The album was recorded in ten days at producer Aaron Dessner's studio in New York, and now they're taking it around the world – bringing it to New Zealand's shores as well. They're performing tonight at Auckland's Spark Arena, and compared to the more intimate, slightly introspective shows the band has done in the past, this one is set to be a bit more exciting. “This is the beginning of a major bout of like, quite a few months of touring for us with a whole new production, a new album, and we're quite ambitious for the whole thing,” Keyboardist and vocalist Ben Lovett told Jack Tame. “It's our 6th album, so we're quite like, in a spirit of let's like, leave it all on the floor, let's bring all the new songs out, let's give it a whole new visual aesthetic.” “It's quite exciting really.” Despite only being a year apart in release dates, Rushmere and Prizefighter are quite different records – Rushmere being more introspective and internal, while Prizefighter is more expansive, featuring collaborations with artists like Chris Stapleton and Hozier. “When we talked about getting back together, I think our desire was to make a record that felt like you were kind of pulling the curtain back and just hearing a band in a room together,” Ted Dwane, who does vocals, bass, and guitar for the band, told Tame. “So with Dave Cobb we made Rushmere, and kind of, I think, kind of completed that thought.” And it was Rushmere's release that threw the band's creative doors wide open, answering any questions about where the band was at musically and whether the audience would be along for the ride. “And I think just internally between us, it was an incredibly freeing feeling, y'know, just the feeling of making Prizefighter,” Dawson said. “It felt like the backlog was cleared and we were flowing again.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this week's Sunday Sitdown, Grammy-winning band Mumford & Sons got together with Willie Geist in Brookyln to talk about their newest album “Prizefighter” which comes 11 months after they released “Rushmere.” Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett and Ted Dwane talk about why they made an album so soon after their last one and that foot-stomping sound that has grown and evolved over the years. Join Here: https://ow.ly/msoH50WCu0KAnalytic Dreamz delivers a detailed breakdown of Noah Kahan's fourth studio album, The Great Divide, released on April 24, 2026. This 17-track project continues the folk-pop and Americana sound established on the 2022 breakthrough album Stick Season while introducing new elements including increased piano presence and rock-pop detours, most notably on “American Cars.”The album explores deep themes of family trauma, sobriety, mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, and body dysmorphia, identity, hometown disconnect, and the tension between fame and personal authenticity. Unlike Stick Season, The Great Divide expands beyond Kahan's personal perspective to incorporate multiple viewpoints, anchored by the recurring motif of small-town life versus global success. Key tracks include the lead single “The Great Divide,” which addresses fear, mortality, and existential reflection, alongside “Doors,” “Paid Time Off,” “Dan,” “23,” “Deny Deny Deny,” “Porch Light,” “Dashboard,” and “Haircut.”Production credits feature Gabe Simon and Aaron Dessner, with recording sessions held in Nashville and Upstate New York. The project is positioned as a direct successor to Stick Season rather than a radical reinvention, praised for its strong songwriting and emotional depth while drawing comparisons to Taylor Swift's pop structures, Don Henley's tone, Bon Iver, Zach Bryan, and Mumford & Sons.Analytic Dreamz examines the accompanying documentary Noah Kahan: Out of Body, which provides additional context on Kahan's mental health struggles, writer's block, and personal philosophy of confronting rather than curing his challenges. The segment also covers the 2026 The Great Divide Tour, a North American arena and stadium run launching June 11 in Orlando and concluding August 31 in Seattle, with multiple sold-out dates including a four-night Boston residency at Fenway Park.Ticket demand has driven high pricing, with resale values reaching up to $13,198 in Boston, while base tickets start around $220. Analytic Dreamz analyzes how this project represents Noah Kahan's transition into a stadium-level headliner while maintaining his “regular-guy” relatability and authentic storytelling. This segment provides comprehensive insight into the album's thematic ambition, commercial momentum, and cultural positioning as a key 2026 release in folk-pop and Americana. Viele große Hits wurden in kurzer Zeit geschrieben. An „I Will Wait“, der ersten Single ihres zweiten Albums „Babel“, mussten Mumford & Sons länger schrauben. Besonders bei Live-Konzerten der britischen Band ist der Song immer eines der absoluten Highlights.

It is a thrill to welcome back my friend, singer-songwriter Max Bartos, to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Max is New York's resident motherfolker! His folk and Americana music pairs introspective lyricism with anthemic folk-rock energy. As the frontman of Max Bartos and the Misfit Toys, he crafts songs rooted in storytelling and emotional honesty, with a modern acoustic sound shaped by influences such as Mumford & Sons and Noah Kahan. Recently signed with Noble Steed Music, Max is steadily carving out his place in the modern folk landscape through intentional songwriting, immersive performances, and a growing catalog that connects deeply with listeners. On this episode of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Max Bartos shared the band's origin story, the stories behind his most-streamed Spotify songs, and supporting Branden James.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/jake-s-take-with-jacob-elyachar--4112003/support.

Spring shows up and suddenly the release calendar explodes, so Matt and Sam do what we always do on Super Awesome Mix: sift through the chaos and hand you a March new music playlist that's actually worth your time. We start with U2's “Yours Eternally,” a collaboration that pulls in Ed Sheeran and Ukrainian artist Taras Topolia and frames a protest minded moment with an unexpectedly hopeful finish. From there we jump into Death Cab for Cutie's “Riptides,” a track that captures modern burnout in one chorus, then test the line between country and pop with Megan Moroney and Sheeran. The mix keeps pivoting: Charlotte Sands brings a hard rock jolt, King Tuff turns time into a hook you'll quote all week, and Blackpink proves again how effortlessly K-pop can play as mainstream pop and hip hop.On the rap and rock side, we dig into Killer Mike's soundtrack cut and the idea that honesty beats a friendly facade, then crank up The Pretty Reckless, Freddie Gibbs with DJ Paul (adult ears only), and Sevendust's “Unbreakable” for anyone who needs a little volume to get through the day. We close with Bleachers pushing back against outside noise and a Mumford and Sons collaboration with Chris Stapleton that somehow feels both simple and huge.https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/sam-march-2026-new-music/pl.u-z2pvuGxoYJ1. This episode gets weird as we talk about Ringo Starr's hypothetical podcast, decide another thing is a CIA psyop, and debate philosophically about threesomes. We relate to teens with the most relatable teen show in the country, a show loved by teens in a way we definitely understand. There's music in this episode too and all of it is bad. In this episode, John is joined by Mumford & Sons and producer Aaron Dessner to discuss how they wrote, recorded and produced the album ‘Prizefighter'. Mumford & Sons are a British folk-rock band made up of Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett and Ted Dwane, who rose to global fame with their banjo-driven folk rock, earning BRIT and Grammy success with the records ‘Sigh No More' and ‘Babel'. Their latest album, ‘Prizefighter', was co-written and co-produced with Aaron Dessner, and features collaborations with Hozier, Gracie Abrams, Gigi Perez and Chris Stapleton, with the band embracing a new creative freedom in the process. Sitting down with Marcus at his Scarlet Pimpernel studio, John and the band discuss how the album unexpectedly grew out of collaboration, and how the process left them feeling more creatively free than ever. They also dig into why the right mic isn't always the most expensive one, Aaron's techniques for recording guitars, how they created the album's distinctive synth sounds and much more!
