Kathy Stewart, a longtime retail professional and personal stylist, who shares how God brings beauty and dignity into everyday retail spaces. Kathy reflects on how the sales floor can be a place of ministry—where stories are heard, confidence is restored, and people are seen as image-bearers of God. She also speaks to the redemptive value of beauty, the challenges of fast fashion, and the quiet power of faithfulness in the workplace. This conversation is a rich reminder that wherever people are, ministry can happen—even in the fitting room. Do you like The Faith & Work Podcast? Be sure to subscribe! These are the words we have pegged it as, and I just wholeheartedly disagree. That actually isn't what beauty is. We have distorted it into that. And I think there's a different way, right? When we put beauty on display, we actually reflect our creator. And we are made in his image." On Being Too Much: [Jesus said to me], "So you are one human out of nine billion just right now. So everything you got to give, it doesn't even pale in comparison to who I am and what I have to give. So my daughter, you reflect me, you bear my image, and I'm way more. I'm the galaxies. I'm the galaxies above the galaxies above the galaxies. So you can't be too much because you're a piece of me." RESOURCES Download the episode transcript Join us at WWC25 Nov. 7, 2025! In this episode we are so thankful to get to talk to Geoff Bunting from Uncharted International. Geoff is the Director of Global Operations at Uncharted and has been able to connect first hand with friends in Myanmar. Uncharted and One Life have been connected to Myanmar for many years and have a genuine love for so many there. In February 2021, a military coup seized control of the country of Myanmar and have instilled a state of fear in the entire country. At One Life we have shared some things about what's happening in Myanmar and have continued praying, but we wanted to learn more and educate ourselves on what's been happening in Myanmar since February. How do people and organizations have effective and safe missions practices in closed or hostile countries? Do missionaries actually increase danger for local believers? And when is it okay for Christians to lie or break the law for the sake of gospel-access? One of the most prominent critiques of international missions is that faith-based organizations get in over their heads with children’s welfare programs, causing a lot of harm to local communities and individual children. So what do we do? How can someone engage in ministries for at-risk children in ethical, helpful ways? What are the mistakes that have been made? And how do we look past our own good intentions to make sure we are actually doing good work? For this episode, we’re excited to welcome an expert in the field: Scott Todd. Scott is the president of One Child - an organization that serves and develops children in poverty around the world, and helps those children reach their God-given potential. In this episode, we dig into the history of Uncharted International; how and why it was started, and how it has evolved. We also have a frank discussion about the mistakes we made in our past, the pitfalls of running a non-profit organization, and what we’re doing to create a healthy culture of missions within our organization. On this podcast, we’ve talked a lot about how disciple-making is part of our identity as Christians. We’re all called by the Great Commission to participate in Jesus’ mission of bringing the Gospel to all people. But even when everyone agrees that this is something we should pursue, arguments about “How?” can stop any progress before we even get started. So what is good missiology? How do our experiences influence our perspectives on missions? And why should every Christian make an effort to form their personal missiology? For this conversation, we’re talking to our friend Amanda Brown from Lafayette, Colorado, where she’s the Global Outreach Coordinator of our partner Flatirons Church. Perspectives Unsettled exists to challenge people. It’s literally in our name: we want to unsettle what has been stagnant, we want to challenge assumptions about faith and push people into taking Christianity seriously. What does it actually teach? Do we believe it, or not? Being challenged is uncomfortable. And no one likes to go out of their way to make themselves intentionally uncomfortable. But it is important. So - how do we challenge ourselves in an honest and healthy way? What does it take to shift from being challenged to changing, and what makes that so hard? And how do our opinions and beliefs and experiences mix with our concept of identity, and who God says we are? In this episode, we talk with our friend and hospital chaplain, Carolyn Edwards, about: What, if anything, do I need to ‘do’ in order to really be a Christian? How do we deal with people who say they are Christian, but don’t seem to act very Christ-like? And how do we navigate self-inflicted guilt when our own actions fall short of what we think is asked of us? This episode, we talk about the obstacles we face in missions work and the reputations that precede us. Do mission workers do more harm than good, even with righteous intentions? And do those intentions absolve them of responsibility? How do we introduce the gospel into a new culture without destroying it? And how can we advocate for international travel when it could be damaging our environment, especially in impoverished and developing areas?
