I feel like everyones tell you to hire help. You’re an entrepreneur and you need to focus on what’s most important, and hand off a lot of the “work” that’s bogging down your day. I get that – for sure. But I battled with it. I would dip my toe in to outsourcing things to get help, and I wouldn’t LOVE my experience, so I would dip my toe back out. So I’m going to share with you how I outsource...and how I don’t. Dani started a membership based community this year called The HA Society and she used the platform MightyNetworks to make it happen. Hannah is in the midst of creating a MightyNetwork for The Female Founded Community too, so she had a great time interviewing Dani on her launch tactics, the up's and down's of running a membership AND how MightyNetworks compares to running her membership through a Facebook group. This is one of my more business-entrepreneurial-mindset-related topics today. I wanted to talk about the weirdness we have around selling the amazing things that we do. I (Dani) recently found my ability to sell myself and what I do with the help of co-host Hannah and now I feel AMAZING when trying to promote my artwork and membership site. Showing up online or honestly anywhere that you desire to show up in the world is scary because of haters. But today, I give you a bunch of tips that I use to battle that fear every single day and still just keep putting out my voice, my work and my vibes. Excited to hear what you think! Rachel Major, the artist behind Rachel Jean Designs is one incredible woman. Her and I met through Instagram when we realized that our art subject matters were so connects. So much so that we actually drew some of the EXACT same things. On this episode we talk about how teaming up with other artists and people to collaborate with can only help you grow, rather than feeling like, well, if other people are doing what you're doing then it will take away from your potential success. We talked about how it feels to go from trying to fit the mould of a successful adult to become a free-as-a-bird artist that shows up as just you are and what all of the wonderful, magical things that life can provide for you when you do that. We bonded entirely over our experiences of diet culture, perfectionism and becoming digital illustrators. If a creative endeavor is something that you're on, or working up the courage to be on, this episode is for you OR if you're working through freeing yourself of the chains body image, this episode is definitely for you too. You know what sucks? People getting how you look completely confused with your personality, morality and general how great a person you are. How many times has your first impression of someone been completely wrong once you've gotten to know them? A million. Exactly. On today's episode, I go on a little solo ted-talk about the difference between your character and your health as well as how unrelated your appearance can be to the reality of how well you take care of yourself. It's a complete rant, but I'm curious about your opinions, so please, do share. Take a listen, let us know what you think and if you have any questions for us... The title basically says it all. Dani and her friend Kate talk about their experiences going under the knife. The why, how and what you need to know and think about beforehand. Hint: Good expectations, be in a solid mental state and do it for yourself, not others.
Thanks to this whole world situation right now, Hannah was forced to make a leap into working for herself full time. She already really wanted to do this, but now was the time. In this episode, we talk about how wild day 1 was compared to day 120. Let's just say...she went from being alone to having a team and more clients then she was sure she could handle. Hannah and Dani caught up to talk about personal branding from the perspective that everyone should have a personal brand and start simply! Even if you're entering a career as a doctor or a pilot or something, having a basic, personal brand can be a benefit (and a lot of fun). We also talk about the pros of diversifying your personal brands interest so that people associate you with random stuff, keeping you top of mind. For example. people associate certain marketing experts with Hannah because she raves about them, and bone broth with Dani because she's obsessed with making it. We also talk about attracting clients and employers that you want to spend time with and putting a twist on your content pillars. Enjoy! Celina is super cool, open minded and level headed. She's also been through a journey of disordered eating and body image. Like many, she spent a long time trying to perfect her body. She's also been a PT and coached people in macro tracking. Fast forward to now, she teaches women to feel powerful in their own skin and gives them the courage to show up exactly as they are. We talked about a LOT, so here are the actual notes I took while going back and editing the podcast: ‘Normal looking girls’ need support around disordered eating too. Why she decided to go public with her mission. Busting myths about recovery - everyone wants to recovery perfectly but that’s not real. Understanding that all of this never goes away, all we can do is develop the tools to live a life more free from body obsession. Seeking support for your mindset around food and disordered eating. Changing your beliefs when you’re deep into a community who believes something else. How hard it was for her to show her body VS sharing her story. But how liberating it became. She has been on the receiving end of negative comments about her appearance and health. But she pushed through because she was able to show THEM empathy and compassion. The first time we saw the concept of body acceptance. Everyone is at a different point in the journey. Some people will think you’re crazy because they’ve never seen this concept before but they need to hear it a few more times. Other women sharing their bodies and stories is what helped Celina find peace with hers and join in. Realizing that by sharing her story would be helping others. Celina wanted to devote herself to helping other women have the same transformation that she had. Celina intentionally grew her following quickly by switching from HALF showing up, to FULL showing up. She started giving REAL support, advice and opinions. Using raw honesty to speak to your audience and validate their experience. The difference between the body positive and body acceptance terminology. You don’t owe anyone anything - you can heal and keep it private. You don’t have to advocate, only if it’s truly right for you. Discrediting others experiences or comparing theirs to yours. Life after “healing” - you will transfer your need to control and be perfect elsewhere!! Jessica Lucero is a US record holder (58kg) | 4x National Champion | 4x world team in Olympic Weightlifting. She will go down in history as the best 58kg weightlifter in the USA (because it no longer exists so no one can beat it). She’s also a friend and a fresh baby weightlifting coach. I was her first athlete actually, years ago and for a while which is pretty cool because I like to think she was successful first try and I like to think I’m her first success but ok I’ll stop talking about myself now. How and why is she naturally a good coach? Because she didn’t just wake up an amazing athlete and start winning medals from the get-go. She wasn’t fast tracked to national teams and medals. She had fail a bunch of times and do a lot of work. So she understands athletes, where they’re coming from and how they may be able to solve issues and succeed. She knows the shifts, changes and decisions that have to be made in order to achieve your dreams. The girl knows what hard work looks like and everything we talk about is applicable to you. After you listen to my in-person conversation with J-Lu you’ll walk away thinking “hell yeah! I can do this!” AND with inspiration to start doing some of the serious mindset work we talk about. Everyone likes an underdog story. The kid no one expected takes a crack at a new sport *cue epic training montage* and gives the competition a run for their money. Well, meet Taylor Lumpp. She’s your all American Girl (she’s blonde, from small town America and her name is Taylor so I assume that’s all the criteria to be an ‘all American girl’, right?) that basically just decided to be an athlete one day. That was 7 years ago. The most important thing I want to note about this story is that she wasn’t just some naturally gifted person who could start any sport and succeed regardless of her effort. She didn’t have a background in gymnastics or track or something that would usually give a person a head start in a new sport. In fact, she was the kid who used to pass out in PE class. She started from the beginning and worked really hard. So, you can definitely learn something and get PUMPED by listening to this story. Hey, Dani here. I’m PUMPED to share this episode with Lauren Parr – a Texas born, raised and based photographer who embodies what it means to commit to what you want and to go and get it. She went from working three jobs to being full time photographer in 1 year. With just 1000 Instagram followers. Because she decided, went all in and faked it until she made it. That’s right. She hustled on the gram and made people DESPERATE for her to shoot their wedding because she was this busy, in-high-demand photographer who was being paid to shoot all the time…or was she? I mean, she is now. And back then she was shooting all the time. But…she wasn’t as paid as some people thought. It’s a great story of desire, determination, a camera and a free social media platform. She also touches on being a business owner in the modern dating world and the struggles of figuring out how to scale. We even do a mini business-brain storming sesh because I can’t help myself. Hannah Deindorfer is a young-but-already-successful business coach. She talks to me about a subject that everyone wants to pick her brain on: how the heck does she impact so many people AND do it all with what can only be described as fearlessness with the composure of someone sho has been doing this for decades? (because she's really only had a few years under her belt). Hint: it's through doing the work to ditch the imposter syndrome, rise up and focus on what really matters: literally everything else except what people think. Boom.
