We head to an archaeological dig in Rock Springs that's leading to discoveries about the town's former Chinatown and a massacre that took place there over a century ago. Then, we get inside the concert halls in Teton Village where the Grand Teton Music Festival is trying to prove its music isn't just for the highbrow listener. We hear about how a photo camp on the Wind River reservation is becoming a mental health solution for men, and sit down with economist and Jackson Town Councilor Jonathan Schechter to hear why he's holding on to hope for shrinking Jackson's wealth gap following the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.Mid-episode music this week is “Fountains of Rome,” a tone poem from 20th century composer Ottorino Respighi and performed by the Grand Teton Music Festival orchestra.Jackson Unpacked airs locally at 89.1 FM or via live-stream Mondays at 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and Fridays and Sundays at 12:30 p.m. Support Jackson's only nonprofit newsroom by becoming a member of KHOL today.

Click here to let us know!In the vast, windswept wilds of Wyoming, stories echo across time—some whispered in ancient legend, others carried in the cold silence of unsolved crimes. Lauren explores the possibility that ancient folklore and modern fear intersect in the same haunted landscape. But that's not the only mystery buried in the Basin. Kenzie dives into the chilling mystery of the Great Basin Murders, a string of unsolved homicides that have haunted law enforcement for decades. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In this week's episode of Bingeworthy, our TV and streaming podcast host Mike DeAngelo is putting out a hit on other shows to discuss “Tulsa King.” The Paramount+ series follows a former Mafia capo exiled to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he builds a new criminal empire with a group of unlikely misfits. The crime dramedy series stars Sylvester Stallone, Andrea Savage, Martin Starr, Garrett Hedlund, Jay Will, Frank Grillo, and more. READ MORE: ‘The Old Man': Jeff Bridges & Amy Brenneman Discuss Their Spy Drama, ‘Tron: Ares', ‘Heat' & More [Bingeworthy Podcast] Joining Bingeworthy to discuss season two of the hit series is writer and showrunner, Terence Winter (“The Sopranos,” “Boardwalk Empire,” “The Wolf of Wall Street”). Winter took over the show early in season one's development for creator Taylor Sheridan (“Yellowstone,” “Wind River”), who was overrun by all things "Yellowstone" and its related projects. After season one rumors began spreading that Sheridan and Winter butted heads over the direction of the series, Winter quit the show, but was ultimately convinced to return for season two. During the interview, Winter cleared the air and explained the situation in his own words. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theplaylist/support
Raffi Patatian is one of the most conscientious, careful, and knowledgeable sailors I know. He set off for Mexico aboard his Hallberg Rassy 43, Wind River, in the fall of 2023. Since then, he has sailed many miles down the West Coast and across the Pacific Ocean, mostly singlehanded. He's an entrepreneur who ran his own IT business in the Bay Area before heading off cruising. Raffi and I caught up at his Sausalito home when he briefly returned from Fiji to pick up some boat parts.
This week we muse on upcoming Raspberry Pi products, prompted by confirmation from Ubuntu that the CM5 is imminent. Then Torvalds has thought on Rust in Linux, Wind River has thoughts on Red Hat, and AWS gives OpenSearch away. Don't miss the non-update on Wireguard, the DirectX surprise, and the long-awaited merge of the Real Time Linux patches! What do the struggles for environmental justice and trans liberation have in common? In this Earth Day episode, Imara examines the shared goals and strategies of these two movements. First, she talks with educator and storyteller Vanessa Raditz about the inherent queerness of nature and the philosophy underlying conservative attacks on trans rights and climate action. Next, she's joined by organizer and artist, Big Wind Carpenter, who shares what they learned while protesting environmental racism at the Dakota Access Pipeline and on the Wind River reservation. In TODAY'S EPISODE OF 10,000 NOs Podcast , a solo riff, I talk about the social experiment known as The Metro Experiment, where world class violinist Joshua Bell was observed playing his $3.5 million dollar Stradivarius in disguise on a subway platform, wearing a hoody as commuters waited for their train. The results were astounding. And they shine a light on artists who have been devaluing themselves, or giving up, because gatekeepers (those who have the power to move said artists' careers forward) haven't recognized their talents... yet. I talk about past guest Terry Winter's crazy journey to the top of Hollywood, as well as Taylor Sheridan's meteoric rise in Hollywood, pointing out that had they listened to the gatekeepers early on in their careers, we wouldn't have such films and shows as The Wolf of Wall Street, Wind River, Boardwalk Empire, Yellowstone, Tulsa King and many, many more. Don't Let the Gatekeepers Stop You!10,000 NOs podcast is now in it's 2.0 phase: after a long pause from late 2021 to late 2023, it has returned in a more raw format: shorter episodes, like the Monday Morsels of yesteryear (they may be short, solo riffs by Matt on central themes of the pod, excerpts from Matt's 10,000 NOs Insiders Community Zooms, or excerpts from Insiders VIP sessions with VIPs from the entertainment interview and beyond). Be on the look out as, every now and then, we will likely drop some old school, long-form, classic 10,000 NOs interviews as bonus episodes. Prefer to WATCH (versus listen)?
