Welcome to Rock Your Shine: After you've been cracked wide open. On this show, I sit down with people from all over the world to hear their transformational stories on their deep grief and loss journeys.    In this week's episode, we are joined by Christine Connors and Terry Clark Murphy, who are using the power of music, storytelling, and compassion to heal the emotional wounds of those who have experienced loss.    They introduce their heartwarming initiative, Healing Chickadee, serving as an interactive, therapeutic tool that utilizes musical stories to foster emotional regulation and resilience in preschool children and their families. Christine Connors is releasing a musical series for children, 'Christina's Cottage', working closely with notable Disney Broadway composer David Friedman. Terry Clark Murphy, Founder and Chief Enthusiast of Chickadee Healing, shares how her personal experience led her to pivot from pain to healing through service.    Through the Healing Chickadee, they aim to provide a compassionate, evolving space for children and adults alike to navigate their grief, fostering a deeper connection with themselves and their emotions. The episode highlights the transformative power of grief, the importance of staying open to service and opportunities, and the role of faith, self-love and patience in the healing journey.   **TRIGGER WARNING** This episode covers sensitive subject matter and is not suitable for all listeners. "How can you know what you want 'til you get what you want and you see if you like it?" Our journey through Into the Woods continues! This week, Drew and Cassie look at how Into the Woods has been adapted in a few different ways. First we break down the 2014 film starring Meryl Streep, James Corden, Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick, and Chris Pine. We discuss the adaptations between mediums in general, Disney's changes to the Narrator and the Mysterious Man, the changes to important songs like On the Steps of the Palace, giving away plot twists too early, Johnny Depp as the Wolf, the brilliance of Agony, the cuts they made like No More, and much more. Then we talk about Broadway Junior, which adapted the first act of Into the Woods to be performed by children. Cassie gets on her soapbox about very existence of the Broadway Junior collection and then we get pretty meticulous with exactly what was eliminated in order to turn the musical into a 60-minute... skit. We also briefly touch on the illustrated book by Hudson Talbott and a couple of interesting changes he made. And yeah, we get super dramatic about all of it, but it's because we CARE!Of Slippers and Spindles is not a spoiler-free podcast, so we do recommend watching Into the Woods before listening to the episode because we're not going to explain the story in as much detail as we usually do, since we've already done so this month. But we do want to let you know that in this particular case,  watching these particular versions may not be necessary! Viewing Disney's movie in advance may help to follow along, but you do not need to seek out Into the Woods, Jr. or the Hudson Talbott book unless you wish to!In today's episode, Drew references the YouTube video "Adaptation, Brand, and Into the Woods" by Zack Paslay - https://youtu.be/1736u5QdVKUMusic: Through The Woods by Shane Ivers - https://www.silvermansound.com

In its 5-year run; the Epcot Internal Festival of the Arts has created quite a following.   The Visual Arts and Culinary Arts are obvious, but the icing on the cake had been the nightcap, featuring Disney on Broadway stars performing their Art, Disney Broadway musicals at The American Gardens Theater.   For the Taste of Epcot Festival of the Arts in 2021, the Voices of Liberty graced the stage, but in the previous 4 years of the festival, Disney Broadway stars took the stage for a nightcap.   In this performance, Kissy Simmons and Alton Fitzgerald White took the stage, recreating some of their on Broadway performances. There was some big Disney Broadway news this week with the announcement that Frozen will not be reopening on Broadway and that Hamilton will be coming to Dinsey+ on July 3rd Disney’s Frozen has become Broadway’s first long-running casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic and industrywide shutdown. The production, which opened March 22, 2018, at the St. James Theatre, announced today that it will not return when Broadway reopens — whenever that might be. In the closure announcement, producers said the musical will not re-open “as a result of the industry-wide shutdown and resulting economic fallout.” The production’s final performance was Wednesday March 11, having played 825 performances and 26 previews. “In the summer of 2013 when Frozen began its road to Broadway,” said Thomas Schumacher, President & Producer Disney Theatrical Productions, “two things were unimaginable: that we’d soon have five productions worldwide, and a global pandemic would so alter the world economy that running three Disney shows on Broadway would become untenable. www.ObscureDisneyPodcast.com www.DisneyPatch.com www.Obscuri-D.com

Happy February to you all! Everyone seems to be on edge lately due to the new president and the strange weather patterns moving their way across the United States, so what better way to turn off your brain and relax than a brand new episode of Random Old Records! I've already broken my resolution of putting these out on time, but hopefully the quality of this one will keep you listening!EPISODE #58 kicks off with the hard funk of The Jimmy Castor Bunch, and flows into some rare grooves by Bobby Moore & The Rhythm Aces and Universal Togetherness Band, then drops in a brand new track from Foxygen, one of the best bands going right now in my opinion. They have dialed back the experimentation of their previous LP ...And Star Power and replaced it with lush arrangements and a bombastic Disney/Broadway vibe on the killer track "Follow The Leader". DEFINITELY go pick up the new record Hang when you get a chance! Then, we go deeper into the land of Southern Soul and heavy horn and string arrangements with some classics from Stax and Bobbie Gentry, and some more kickin' country rock from New Riders Of The Purple Sage and Sir Douglas (country rock has been my JAM as of late!). We then come back to the present and finish up with some dreamy jangle from the Liminanas, Chook Race, and Shantih Shantih. All in all, it's a full sixty minutes and two seconds of great music to calm your shattered nerves and give you a little peace of mind.
