While overall divorce rates are falling, one group is bucking the trend. For those over 50, divorce rates have doubled or even tripled (depending on what source you consult) since the 1990s. So, when Crow's Feet wants to know what's causing the spike in divorces for older adults and how more couples might stay together, who are we gonna call? A divorce-buster, of course. Relationship therapist, author, and educator Michele Weiner-Davis, author of the best-selling book Divorce Busting: A Step-by-Step Approach to Making Your Marriage Loving Again, joins host Betsy Allen to talk about the issues, both large and small, that tear relationships apart and how older couples can start to think differently, communicate better, and regain those loving feelings. Even if you're not considering divorce, Michele has advice that can make any relationship stronger and more resilient. How did my company, Clients on Demand, generate over $100 million in high-ticket coaching sales? It all comes down to one powerful, 30-minute presentation. In this episode, I'm breaking down the exact structure of the masterclass that does all the heavy lifting for our client attraction. This isn't about posting 400 pieces of content a week. It's about having one core asset that takes someone from a cold ad-click to an enrolled high-ticket client in 24-48 hours. I'll walk you through the entire framework, from the initial hook to the final invitation, so you can apply these principles to your own business. In This Episode, We Discuss: 01:45 The simple, two-page funnel that powers our entire business. 04:30 Why most people fail when they try to copy this model (Hint: they mess up the video). 07:15 The "Outcome + Curiosity Hook" formula for an irresistible title. 12:00 How to describe your audience's problems so vividly they automatically assume you have the solution. 17:30 The "Big Reframe": Turning their problems into symptoms of a bigger issue only you can solve. 22:10 The Five Core Belief Shifts your presentation MUST create (and why you should never "teach"). 26:45 The "Old Way vs. New Way" technique to eliminate all your competition. He had the biggest hit of the year with 'Old Town Road' and won two Grammys. Now singer Little Nas X has been hospitalized after a possible overdose. He was found dancing in the streets of LA in only underwear and white cowboy boots. And these are the kind of neighbors you want... when a house caught fire, they didn't wait for the fire trucks to arrive. Two teens jumped into action... Busting into the home to save two dogs trapped inside. One of the heroes says what happened felt like something straight out of a movie. Plus, get me out of here. That's the message from convicted killer Bryan Kohberger... Who is serving life for murdering four University of Idaho students. He's asking prison officials to be moved to another block because... He says... He's being tortured by fellow inmates...minute by minute. The note was scribbled with child-like handwriting. But if Kohberger thought he would get some sympathy... He was wrong. And Cracker Barrel Old Country store is trying to make some new changes... And some people aren't too happy about it. The chain is updating the inside of some of its restaurants... Its menu... Family law attorney and certified divorce financial analyst Lisa Zeiderman joins me to talk about how parents can navigate separation, divorce, and custody decisions with clarity, confidence, and a focus on their child's well-being. Together we explore: The different legal pathways for separation and divorce (including mediation, collaborative law, and litigation) and how to determine which may be right for your family. Common dynamics that can make self-advocacy harder, such as power imbalances, high-conflict relationships, or emotional manipulation. What it means to “foster” a relationship between your child and their other parent—and why courts prioritize this. How to set your child up for emotional success, even when the co-parenting relationship is strained. Tangible behaviors that courts (and kids!) recognize as supporting healthy co-parenting. Ways to support your child's sense of voice and agency throughout the process—whether that's through therapy, routines, or even court-appointed advocates. Resources and recommendation of support systems and products that can help parents co-parent more effectively. Whether you're already in the thick of it or just starting to consider what the future may hold, this conversation offers guidance and grounding for navigating family transitions with thoughtfulness and care. In this episode of Overdrive, David Brown and Brian Smith dive into the quirks, jargon, and big personalities of the motoring and transport world. We start with a NSW Government report on Sydenham Station's upgrades—dense with transport-speak but easily translated into plain English. From there, it's off to Sydney's first-ever Light Commercial Vehicle Show, where vans, utes, and even cargo bikes are vying for the last-mile delivery crown. ANCAP's latest safety results are in: Volkswagen's Terramar aces the tests with five stars, but Peugeot's hybrid 3008/5008 twins don't quite make the grade. Nissan's long-awaited Ariya EV gets its Australian specs and pricing, while Suzuki launches its first new nameplate in more than a decade—the compact hybrid Fronx, aimed at first-time buyers and downsizers. A Facebook post sparks a chat about the SUV-ification of prestige sports car brands—think Aston Martin DBXs in the wild—and the team has a laugh over car jargon quirks, from “dampeners” to “VIN numbers.” We wrap up with a full road test of Toyota's colossal Tundra pickup. Equal parts luxury cruiser and towing workhorse, it's a vehicle that raises the question: how big is too big for Australian roads? Topics covered: Sydenham Station report: translating jargon into plain English Sydney Light Commercial Vehicle Show: vans, utes, and cargo bikes ANCAP safety ratings: Volkswagen's Terramar shines, Peugeot's hybrids fall short Nissan Ariya EV: Australian specs and pricing Suzuki Fronx launch: a bold, compact hybrid SUV for new buyers SUV-ification of sports car brands Car terminology quirks and humour Toyota Tundra road test: comfort, towing, and market fit Tags: #Cars #Transport #Culture #OverdriveRadio #EV #SUV #Utes #RoadTest #ToyotaTundra #SuzukiFronx #NissanAriya #ANCAP

Even if it is just a few sentences)It doesn't matter what I read - Set the bar high - be a reading snob (we become what we consume. So many great options. Follow book review youtubers you trust or The Recap Book Chat Podcast for some great recommendations)I can't remember what I read. Reading w/o reflection is like taking a shower w/o soap (book journaling and book clubs help loads in the remembering department)I'm in a reading rut, challenge yourself-you are not a dope! (Start small with something simple and fun to get the gears rolling- try audio books)I'm waiting for the perfect mood - Progress not perfection is the right direction (I believe you can learn something from every book, not just the ones you love.) I'm behind…Comparing your reading journey to others spoils the connection (Comparison steals your joy, everyone has their own pace, be sure to honor yours.)I'm too tired/wired - Read anyway something will stick (Studies show it is super healthy for your brain to read before bed. Be sure to use a blue blocking booklight.) I only have one speed quick quick quick, learn to savor slow, (try some classics! They were written in a much slower time and have a way of making the reader slow down as well)No, I can't explain what I read in a simple way, but AI can so what the hay (try some kid lit, it is written in easier to explain ways but can still pack a punch)I'll wait for the movie, NOT at all groovy (so many books that have been turned into movies have been altered from what the author originally intended. Why not do both! You will appreciate it in a more indepth way and can see if it lines up with what the author intended.)There is a reader inside all of us. We often suppress this desire to curl up with a book and a cup of joe or tea because we (insert excuse here) ________. Don't fall into the trap! We tend to do what is important. Carve out some reading time, your brain will thank you!Booklight - hooga Reading Journal - Amazon.com: Reading Journal: For the Love of Books, A Book Journal and Planner for Book Lovers to Track, Log and Review
In this empowering episode, Tina Tower takes on five of the most common money myths holding women back from creating more abundance in their businesses and lives. With warmth, honesty, and practical strategies, Tina explores how both beliefs and strategy impact wealth-building—and reveals how you can reframe limiting money stories to make way for a more prosperous reality. Key Topics Covered: Making Money Is Hard: Tina challenges the belief that making money requires endless hustle. She encourages listeners to seek ease, focus on value creation, and kick the right “soccer ball” through the goal—not just the heaviest or hardest one. Wanting More Money Is Greedy: Tina dispels the myth that desiring wealth is selfish, pointing out how women with wealth give back to their families and communities, and that having more is an act of service. You Have to Be Great at Math or Finances to Build Wealth: Not true! Tina shares her own modest math grades and reminds us that learning and tracking your numbers—even with simple tools or a bookkeeper—is what truly matters in business. Charging High Prices Is Selfish: Tina encourages listeners to see high prices as a reflection of value and impact. Committed clients invest more—and get better results—while strong pricing helps your business and your clients thrive. If I Just Work Harder, I'll Make More Money: Tina notes this is true only up to a point. After a certain stage, more hours won't yield more income. Focus on smarter strategy, leverage, better offers, and scalable systems. Your beliefs shape your success as much as strategy. Reframe limiting stories, track your numbers, and price confidently to reflect your impact. Money amplifies your values—choose empowering beliefs that drive growth and align with the freedom and opportunities you deserve. The KwaZulu-Natal Public Works and Infrastructure Department has been hard at work the past few months to turn around the dysfunction there. In this interview with BizNews, MEC Martin Meyer gives an update of the milestones reached. He says the rot was “deep” regarding corruption and maladministration. “And even though it was a small group of officials, they were well embedded and we had to take some very strong action regarding those officials…Currently, our HOD is going through his disciplinary and four other senior officials were successfully prosecuted within the department and their services with us terminated.” He further lists various radical cost-cutting measures - including moving away from consultants - to save millions. Meanwhile, huge progress has been made to pay contractors, some of whom had been waiting five years. Furthermore, a proactive stance against the Construction Mafia has resulted in “many arrests…, and the NPA is now charging people…and in the last six months we've had zero disruptions at any of our building sites”.
Following the breakdown of her long-term relationship in 2021, Orla Donoghue became a single parent to her then one-year-old son, Rory. The transition, however, was far from easy. As a new mother, she grappled with feelings of isolation, shame and uncertainty and despite the fact that one in five households in Ireland are single parent families, she also found the experience deeply isolating. However, it was this difficult experience that ultimately led her to set up Solas Coaching, a support space dedicated to helping other single parents. In today's episode, Donoghue talks to Róisín Ingle about finding her footing as a solo parent, the importance of asking for help and why she's passionate about supporting others in difficult times. Hi Mamas, This week's episode is a little different... and a whole lot deeper. We're not talking hacks or checklists. We're talking about real life… the kind that makes you want to cry in your car, order takeout again, and wonder how on earth you're supposed to do it all. This one's about juggling. But not in the “look how productive I am” kind of way. In the real, raw, honest way… where your therapist has to remind you: “You're juggling a lot right now… but not every ball is made of glass.” Today, I'm sharing: ✔️ How to know what's a glass ball (fragile, important, long-term) ✔️ How to spot a rubber ball (urgent-feeling, but bounces just fine) ✔️ Questions to ask yourself when everything feels “important” ✔️ A behind-the-scenes look at how I've had to let some balls bounce (yes, even the podcast) ✔️ Why you are a glass ball...and what that means for your peace ✔️ How to give yourself full permission to stop doing it all... and breathe instead This is the episode I needed…. and I hope it's the one you didn't know you needed, too.
In this episode of To The Root, Robyn Spangler tackles a widespread myth in the skin health world: that Candida is the root cause of acne and other chronic skin conditions. While Candida overgrowth may play a role in certain symptoms, Robyn explains why it's rarely the primary driver — and why simply following anti-Candida diets or supplement protocols often fails to deliver lasting results.Drawing on over a decade of clinical experience, Robyn walks through the deeper terrain issues that allow Candida to thrive: compromised digestion, heavy metal overload, mineral depletion, chronic stress, poor liver detoxification, and more. She shares how addressing these root factors — rather than targeting Candida in isolation — creates a stronger foundation for true skin healing. If you've struggled with recurring acne, eczema, or rashes and suspect Candida may be involved, this episode offers a clear, research-informed perspective on what it takes to support your body and restore balance long-term.Listen now!Highlights:Why Candida is typically a symptom — not the root cause — of chronic skin issuesKey internal factors that contribute to Candida overgrowth. The link between Candida and skin conditions such as fungal acne, eczema, dermatitis, and histamine-related flaresWhy temporary improvements from Candida protocols often don't lastThe importance of assessing nutrient status, hormone balance, and digestive healthHow functional testing and a whole-body approach can lead to sustainable skin healingConnect with Robyn:Instagram: @nutritionbyrobyn Website: https://www.theclearskinlab.com

In this episode of Building Better Developers with AI, Rob Broadhead and Michael Meloche delve into the often-overlooked yet crucial topic of customer success. Revisiting a previous episode, "Customer Success - Delivering value on a budget," with AI's help, they reframe how developers and founders can deliver long-term value—even on a limited budget. “Customer success isn't optional—it's how you grow sustainably.” Unlike reactive customer support, customer success is a proactive mindset. It ensures that what you build helps users meet their goals, reduce friction, and ultimately drive business results—for both them and you. The Key Difference: Support Reacts. Success Delivers. Many developers conflate customer support with customer success, but they serve very different roles: Support fixes problems when users hit a wall. Success removes those walls altogether. Callout: “When you build for success, you become an investment—not just a cost.” Developers should aim to reduce effort, automate pain points, and align solutions with customer outcomes. That's when your work becomes mission-critical. Busting the Budget Myth A common misconception is that customer success programs are a luxury reserved only for large companies. The truth? Small teams may need it even more. Michael shares a real-world example: After years of manually maintaining a client's outdated systems, a simple upgrade cut service time from three days to four hours. That's budget-friendly success with measurable ROI.
Send us a textFrom the vault; This week I talk about the importance of doing plank exercises if you're working on your postpartum recoveryToo often do I hear "Planks are dangerous to do post-partum" or "avoid doing planks or you'll make your diastasis worse".This is complete nonsense. Planks are your friend post-partum but you kind of have to know what you're doing and why you're doing certain exercises at a certain time.So I discuss things like reverse planks, side planks and front loaded planks and how to do them safely and effectively.I also explain why you will NEVER recover post-partum if you don't do plank exercises, it just won't happen! And I talk about the difference between static and dynamic planks and why movement during a plank makes the plank significantly more effective.Reminder; HPNB still only has 5 billing cycles. In a heated debate, BT and Sal dissect the perplexing play of Anthony Volpe, whose recent offensive surge, highlighted by a barrage of home runs, stands in stark contrast to his increasingly dismal defense at shortstop. While Sal advocates for sending Volpe down to the minors to address his defensive "train wreck," arguing he's "broken" at the position, BT vehemently pushes back, asserting that a player hitting clutch home runs and showing fight isn't truly "broken," merely in a defensive slump that needs to be worked through at the major league level. The conversation revolves around whether the Yankees are "ruining" Volpe by keeping him in the lineup, or if his offensive contributions and demonstrated resilience outweigh his glaring defensive struggles.

Think making money from elopements is impossible? My guest today is here to bust that myth. Vanessa Halliday is an elopement photographer based in the white mountains of New Hampshire. She went from studying kinesiology to being a struggling wedding photographer to having a thriving elopement photography business on the East Coast, and she is sharing her story of how she did it. During the conversation, Vanessa opens up about the challenges she faced in 2023 of being overworked, relying on social media to get bookings, and having crippling anxiety and depression. However, through all of the struggles, she found a turning point. She invested in a business coach and manifested her goals, which helped her achieve the success she had always hoped for. Vanessa went from making $18K in 2023 to already booking $110K in elopements this year alone! The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk has become a go-to book for understanding trauma, but not everyone agrees with its approach. In this episode, journalist and author of Acceptance: A Memoir, Emi Nietfeld joins us to talk about The Body Keeps the Score and how it influenced the world of trauma therapy. Bringing both her personal experience and sharp insight to the table, she enlightens us on trauma treatment and why popular narratives around resilience and recovery often miss the mark, especially when they lean more on storytelling than science. We get into where the book falls short, especially around science and why proven methods like CBT and prolonged exposure therapy deserve more attention. Emi also opens up about how those treatments personally changed her life. It's an honest look at trauma, what really works, and how we can do better, both personally and as a society.Listen and Learn:Why true resilience isn't about toughness alone but about community, care, and real support systemsHow the mental health system often fails kids by ignoring family dysfunction and why real change starts with seeing the full context, not just labeling the childWhy positive thinking isn't enough for trauma recovery and how validating, supportive therapy makes all the difference when you're ready to speak your truthAvoiding trauma memories in therapy can cause more harm and what effective healing requiresHow popular trauma books like “The Body Keeps the Score” can fuel shameChallenging the "addicted to trauma" label and how oversimplified narratives can stigmatize survivors and ignore systemic causes of violenceHow trauma research can be misrepresented, especially about cognitive behavioral therapy's real effectivenessUsing structured prolonged exposure therapy to help you safely face trauma and build resilienceWriting a memoir can unearth painful truths, but honest storytelling sparks real healing and self-acceptanceWhy popular trauma books feel like belief systems—and why we need solutions beyond therapyResources: Emi's Book Acceptance: https://bookshop.org/a/30734/9780593489499 Emi's website https://www.eminietfeld.com/ and her Substack https://eminietfeld.substack.com/ Connect with Emi on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/emi-nietfeld/ and Instagram https://www.instagram.com/eminietfeld/ Mother Jones article: https://www.motherjones.com/media/2024/12/trauma-body-keeps-the-score-van-der-kolk-psychology-therapy-ptsd/ Slate article: https://slate.com/technology/2024/08/sexual-assault-treatment-talk-therapy-prolonged-exposure-recovery.htmlArticle mentioned on trauma theory as a belief system: https://beiner.substack.com/p/the-truth-about-trauma-bessel-vanAbout Emi NietfieldEmi Nietfeld is an author, journalist, and speaker. In this episode of The Self-Employed Life, I had the pleasure of speaking with Katie Keller Wood, Montessori educator, TEDx speaker, and author of the upcoming book Alignment: A Montessori Approach to Reimagining Work-Life Balance. We challenge the myth of work-life balance and instead explore the powerful metaphor of a life mosaic—how different aspects of our life can align without rigid separation. Katie shares how purpose-driven work, often viewed with guilt or skepticism, can actually be a vital source of personal meaning and fulfillment. She draws from Montessori principles in order to emphasize the importance of not losing oneself in their meaningful work, but instead cultivate awareness, alignment, and joy in all areas of life. This episode is for anyone wanting to do their purpose work and create a meaningful life without burning out. Dr. Katie Keller Wood grew up in the world of education, and delights in helping people find new ways of thinking about the world. Discovering Montessori education, both as a pedagogy and a philosophy, was pivotal for her, and she is on a mission to bring a Montessori perspective of work to everyone. Katie has had the great honor of working with hundreds of middle and high school Montessori teachers from all over the world through the training program she runs, called CMStep. She is recognized as a leader in Montessori programming for adolescents and adults. Any given semester might find Katie teaching undergraduates at the University of Virginia, where she earned both her bachelor's and her doctorate degrees, master's students at Xavier University, or doctoral students at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. She is active in the Montessori research and teacher education communities. Katie does her work because she believes that a more peaceful, just, equitable, and sustainable world is possible, and that it takes all of us leading our aligned lives to bring this world forward. Katie lives in Richmond, Virginia, and is a TEDx and keynote speaker and a sought-after presenter for workshops and conferences.
