Motherhood is what you make it. You don’t have sex after having a baby. Date nights are thrown out of the window. You lose your identity in being a mom, and you’ll only hang out with people who have kids. Do any of these sound familiar? There are so many generalizations about life after having a baby, but there are some women out there who are redefining motherhood for themselves. One of those people is today’s guest, Adee Cazayoux.   Adee is the founder and CEO of Working Against Gravity and she’s one of the first guests we’ve ever had on the show. Back in episode 4, she and her husband shared their secrets on why and how they maintain a strong and unified partnership. Today, Adee is back to talk about some of those things, but through the lens of being 7 months postpartum. We talk about keeping your identity while also being a great mother, how motherhood has changed her marriage, how she and her husband navigate new responsibilities, and how they keep intimacy at the forefront of their lives. Enjoy! Episode Highlights:  5:31 How Adee mentally, emotionally, and physically prepared to have a baby 11:17 Adee’s honest thoughts on being pregnant and how her mindset played a part 14:24 How being pregnant during COVID-19 really felt  17:30 Adee’s unexpected delivery story and why she wasn’t able to have her home birth 24:20 The hardest part about delivering a baby 30:46 Coping with your newborn in NICU 32:56 Life at home with a newborn baby 34:57 What marriage is like after having a baby 37:56 How Adee and Michael split up parenting duties 43:15 Reintroducing sex and intimacy after delivery 49:44 Redefining motherhood and writing your own story 52:24 Adee’s special new project 55:34 How Adee wishes to be like her mother Links and Resources:  Adee’s Website Adee on Instagram Working Against Gravity Daysy Orgasmic Birth: The Best-Kept Secret Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth Podcast 004: How to Have an Awesome Marriage with Adee and Michael Cazayoux Guest Bio: Adee Cazayoux is the Founder and CEO of Working Against Gravity (WAG), an online nutrition coaching program with a mission to transform lives. Jessica Lucero is a US record holder (58kg) | 4x National Champion | 4x world team in Olympic Weightlifting. She will go down in history as the best 58kg weightlifter in the USA (because it no longer exists so no one can beat it). She’s also a friend and a fresh baby weightlifting coach. I was her first athlete actually, years ago and for a while which is pretty cool because I like to think she was successful first try and I like to think I’m her first success but ok I’ll stop talking about myself now.
How and why is she naturally a good coach? Because she didn’t just wake up an amazing athlete and start winning medals from the get-go. She wasn’t fast tracked to national teams and medals. She had fail a bunch of times and do a lot of work. So she understands athletes, where they’re coming from and how they may be able to solve issues and succeed. She knows the shifts, changes and decisions that have to be made in order to achieve your dreams. The girl knows what hard work looks like and everything we talk about is applicable to you. After you listen to my in-person conversation with J-Lu you’ll walk away thinking “hell yeah! I can do this!” AND with inspiration to start doing some of the serious mindset work we talk about. Jessica was my guest here on Episode 37, where we talked about rituals, imagery, and self-discovery. Today she’s back to discuss her experience at the Olympic trials last year, where she had the single best performance of her life and barely missed qualifying for the Olympics. We also talk about how she’s gearing up for the next four years before she gets another shot at the Olympics. You’ll love hearing her experience from a behind-the-scenes perspective as well as her insights into what it takes to make it to the Olympics in such a competitive sport.
