As we are all aware of by now: Comparison is the thief of joy. But I don’t let that stop me! I am incredible at comparison. If there was an award for this… It would be MINE! It’s part of my personality. I’m really good at looking at things critically and figuring out ways to […] The post The Comparison Cure appeared first on Beyond the Crumbs.
My vision for this podcast includes lots of listener feedback, so I'm excited to get to share some of your responses today to my previous questions: What do you wish you knew when you were a new parent. Also, take a chance on the Smile Challenge and find out how it became part of my postpartum mental health care plan!
In my first episode I asked the question: What do you wish you could go back and tell yourself as a new parent? What wisdom have you gained since those first days/months/years that you would share with an earlier version of you? I have received some great emails and comments on the show notes so […] The post Pick-Me-Up Smile Challenge/New Parent Wisdom appeared first on Beyond the Crumbs.
We are all so different. Our children are all so different. What works for me and my kids may not work for you and vice versa. So, why don't we all just keep our opinions about parenting issues to ourselves? Right?⠀WRONG!⠀Because of the way I've come across so many methods that work for my family while I'm scrolling through my FB feed MID-STRUGGLE, pushing a futile agenda, I have an appreciation for the respectful sharing of different ideas. I think most of us appreciate this even though sometimes we're the ones who get our feathers ruffled.⠀So with all these different methods, ideas and closely held beliefs flying around, how can we keep our feathers nice and smooth? Tune in to find out!

Tell me if this sounds familiar: After a long day, I finally get the last kid down for bed. They’ve all been fed, hopefully teeth-brushed, read to, sung to, rocked, bounced, nursed, probably re-nursed, and the house is quiet. I’ve been looking forward to this all day! I can finally get the dishes or laundry […] The post Crush mom guilt appeared first on Beyond the Crumbs.

In the wild, female elephants surround a birthing mother elephant in a tightly knit circle to assist and celebrate the new arrival. This behavior isn't unique to the animal kingdom. Throughout history and across cultures, birthing and mothering women have been surrounded by other wise and loving women who help and lift and love. What happened? Listen to find out why and how to create a safety net of community support.
There's nothing worse than a sick baby! While that's not entirely true, in the moment I could be convinced otherwise. For me, the hardest part of having a sick baby is that life goes on. I still have to get all the other kids everywhere they are supposed to be with all materials needed on the right day and time. This feels impossible when my armful of hot, miserable baby feels like an active emergency. Listen in to learn my survival tools and essential supplies.
My name is Brittney and I am a recovering perfectionist. Who's with me? Learn how a hoarding home clean-up was my gateway to understanding what perfectionism is and what I am doing to overcome it.
In retrospect, I was never doing it wrong. Not when I was making health or parenting decisions with no evidentiary foundation. Not when I was questioning myself or my choices. Not even when I shut out my instincts and over-informed myself. This was my journey. This is how I learned who I am as a mother and what matters to me. This is how I learned who and what I DON'T want to be. This is how I developed a safety network of support people that I couldn't have done without. This is how I become the mother that my kids need and the me that I know and even LOVE today!
