Are you tired of starting over every Monday? Wondering how to build lasting healthy habits that stick—even when life gets chaotic? Then this episode is for you. This week on Salad with a Side of Fries, host Jenn Trepeck dives into the transformative journey of the Healthy Vibe Tribe and how 12 weeks of shared goals, weekly check-ins, and community support led to lasting change. Healthy Vibe Tribe member, Shannon, joins Jenn to share how she went from chasing the number on the scale to tuning into how she felt—physically, emotionally, and mentally. They talk about staying on track through travel, social events, and everyday chaos, proving that progress—not perfection—is what matters. Tune in to hear how consistency, community, and a shift in mindset can help you transform from the inside out. The Salad With a Side of Fries podcast is hosted by Jenn Trepeck, who discusses wellness and weight loss for real life, clearing up the myths, misinformation, bad science & marketing surrounding our nutrition knowledge and the food industry. Let's dive into wellness and weight loss for real life, including drinking, eating out, and skipping the grocery store. IN THIS EPISODE: (04:20) The creation of the Healthy Vibe Tribe(10:44) Discussion of the commitment level as a Healthy Vibe Tribe member(13:18) Noticing the transformation in healthy habits over 12 weeks(27:20) The Healthy Vibe Tribe principles made all the difference while traveling(33:37) Making the choice about drinking an alcoholic beverage(37:33) Going forward with the learnings from the Healthy Vibe Tribe(44:38) Tips on making life and health changes on your weight loss journeyKEY TAKEAWAYS:Weekly check-ins and shared goals fostered accountability and motivation, especially during busy times. Instead of fixating on the scale, shift your focus to how you feel—physically and emotionally. While tracking numbers offers helpful structure, lasting results come from staying present, consistent, and committed to progress over perfection.Being part of a supportive community and intentionally planning will help you maintain healthier habits during challenging times like vacations and conferences. Scheduling check-ins, packing snacks, and prioritizing wellness, can help you avoid the typical wellness pitfalls of travel.Transformation takes root when healthy decisions become second nature. This shift fosters a sense of empowerment and often inspires those nearby, creating a ripple effect that encourages collective growth. Consistent choices, made with intention, serve as a quiet but powerful example of what's possible when wellness becomes a way of life.QUOTES: (07:40) “Am I an example or a warning? You get to a point where you have to decide that time is important, and I don't want the quality of the subsequent decades of my life to be different because I kept saying, ‘Next Monday is gonna be the time.'” - Shannon: Healthy Vibe Tribe Member(21:31) “There's something really powerful about the words we use, not just in terms of lost weight, which many of you listeners know, is like nails on a chalkboard to me. We remove it, we release it.” - Jenn Trepeck(32:22) “But the point is that perfection is not required, and bringing the exercise clothes is still progress over where we've been before.” - Jenn Trepeck(35:04) “When we start to make quality choices, it inherently invites other people around us to do it too, in a way that's not pushy. Our consistency in healthier choices allows the people around us to adapt.” - Jenn Trepeck(40:19) “Accountability, even if it looks a little bit different, is keeping the things in place that we know helped us get here.” - Jenn TrepeckRESOURCES:Want to Jump Into Round 2 of the Healthy Vibe Tribe? “If you win each day with consistent preparation, work ethic, and expectation for excellence, the results will take care of themselves." Happy New Year, friends! It is so exciting to begin new goals or directions for the year - a becoming. I begin with a few tips that I have found in helping you start a new habit. With my goals, I noticed how I was ready to go all in, and went a little too much. Like doing double workouts for a few days and wanting to get all my decluttering done in a week. So this episode I emphasize the importance of progress over perfection. I look back on Episode 75 when I talked about 1 percent better and then recap on the principles of the Great Britain Cycling team that did just that. I mention a great quote from the CSU swimming coach, Wally Morton. I also share a great quote and idea from Thomas S. Monsoon, in joys and glories of creation as we think about creating this new year. I would love to hear from you! You can reach me at camille@findingthefloor.com or dm @findingthefloor on instagram. Recovery is progress, not perfection, and it doesn't look the same for everyone. It can be easy to impose expectations of your own onto your loved one. But as you ease up on expectation, you're taking the pressure off your loved one, allowing them space to try things and just see how it goes. Sometimes mistakes are learning moments. If we can change our expectation and the perception of what we're seeing, noticing and acknowledging the positive, acknowledging our own feelings, we give them space to grow and we can learn more about what growth looks like from their perspective. Changing yourself makes room for your loved one to change as well.
The K9PT Academy Podcast: Business lessons for canine rehab therapists
Welcome to The K9PT Academy podcast, the only podcast in veterinary rehabilitation that focuses on helping business owners and entrepreneurs build and scale a profitable and successful canine rehabilitation business! Over the last few months, I have chatted with many canine rehab therapists who are thinking about opening their own business, some of them are not even finished with their certification yet, and a common question I get is when do I think would be a good time to start working on their business. To be honest, when starting a business the easy part is creating the LLC, getting the equipment that you need, and make sure you have the basics set up so you can start seeing patients… the hardest part is actually building up the marketing and sales strategies that will be vital for someone to build a successful business, and of course those things don't happen overnight, and just as important will be for someone to start working on their mindset and personal development which will also shift when we go from being an employee to becoming a business owner. Listen to the full episode as we discuss: The mindset shift needed once we become entrepreneurs Sequential vs continuous thinking, and how that affects our success in entrepreneurship When is the right time for you to start working on your business Learning how to cope with failure and how that helps us move forward The importance of finding mentorship, guidance, and a community of like-minded individuals who are coming along this journey with you Join our Canine Rehabpreneur Community: www.facebook.com/groups/k9rehabpreneur/ Download our fee calculator and training: https://thek9pt.mykajabi.com/Fee-calculator Download our 'marketing done easy' worksheet and training: https://www.k9ptacademy.com/marketing-done-easy ... Are you a perfectionist? Are you guilty of spending an insane amount of time on trying to get something perfect? Does this approach ultimately hold you back from achieving your goals? Progress over perfection means focusing on what you've already achieved so far and being proud of the work you've put towards a goal - even if it's not 100% perfect. Progress reminds you that it's okay to make mistakes and encourages you to celebrate your achievements along the way, no matter how small they are. While perfectionism is paralysing and can feel very overwhelming at times, focusing on making progress is liberating. On this episode I look at why focusing on making steady progress towards your goals is a healthier and more effective approach than trying to be a perfectionist. I explore why making consistent progress rather than striving for flawlessness is going to help you achieve your goals and look after your mental health in the long-term. I had a great time this weekend! I took a super quick road trip to see one of my favorite artists live in concert.I got to spend some time with one of my clients, met a new friend, saw an old friend, hung with my BFF. I ate cheese curds & drank beer. I stayed up late & skipped my morning workout and didn't open my computer for an entire 48 hours. And I didn't feel guilty about any of it! This isn't my typical day, and I know what I do some of the time has a minimal impact on my health & fitness goals because what I do MOST of the time is much more important! #consistency is what matters most. And MOST of the time I am consistent in my efforts. The same is true for YOU! What you do MOST of the time is what matters MOST. In my first guest episode, I interviewed my dear friend and parent coach, Maria Suarez on how becoming a parent coach has helped her heal and reinvent herself. Maria authentically and vulnerably shares how her journey has not only brought her closer to her family, but also improved other areas of her life and the lives of her clients. As she tells her clients, the goal is progress not perfection. Whether you're a parent or looking to support and hold space for others in your life, it starts with you!Maria Suarez became a parenting coach because she wanted a completely different kind of relationship with her children than the one she grew up with. Quite frankly, she was tired of going to bed feeling guilty about what she did or didn't do (mom guilt is very real). Maria always said, “I will be better tomorrow”. As a former Children's Librarian, she constantly met parents who felt the same way. Parents felt as if what they did was not enough. The time came for Maria to deliver her promise of doing better “tomorrow”. Once she understood how possible it was to build the relationship with her children that she wanted based on mutual trust more understanding, curiosity, and care, the yelling abated and better communication ensued. Maria's results have made her deeply passionate about supporting other parents in this life-changing work.As a parenting coach, Maria aims to empower and inspire her clients to navigate challenges at home without resorting to unwanted behaviors such as yelling and losing their minds. She believes that every family has the potential to create positive change in their homes, no matter the age of the children or how difficult the situation is at any given time. Every parent deserves to have a toolkit for success in parenting. Maria is here to support and equip you with the skillset and tools for your personal growth and transformation journey.Maria's approach to coaching is rooted in evidence based education, emotional awareness, mindfulness, and open communication. She work collaboratively with her clients to help them identify their strengths and limiting beliefs; all the stories we tell ourselves or have been told to us to develop practical strategies for achieving their goals. Maria believes that coaching is a process of self-discovery, and she is committed to providing a supportive and non-judgmental space for her clients to explore how they want to show up for themselves and their families.Maria offers a range of coaching services, including one-on-one coaching sessions, group coaching, and workshops.
