This is Descendo Collem, formerly known as Down the Hill, where a seminarian discusses topics at "face-value" from philosophy, theology, truth, and more!Today's episode? After a long hiatus, I provide a small update to the podcast, including a new podcast name, Descendo Collem, finally matching the cover art for this podcast. Latin for “I descend the hill” I think is an appropriate metaphor to how Christ the Logos comes from the Father and truly becomes flesh, but God all the same. He did so out of great love and mercy for us, and my journey as a seminarian is to configure my heart to such a love.As I go on to seminary, I hope that I will still be able to upload many more episodes but I of course will be focusing on my formation and my community. For now, you can follow my adventures by signing up for updates on my website, michaeltorregosa.com.Please continue to pray for me as I begin this new and exciting part of my discernment, and know of my prayers for you all!Michael's email: mrtorregosa@gmail.comPlease put "DOH-EP# Discussion" as the subject line.Note: While I am a seminarian, the opinions and content here are my own and is subject to error. Please let me know if there are any severe errors and I will work to address them in the future. Thank you!Music:The Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP), Requiem

This is Down the Hill, where an undergraduate student discusses topics at "face-value" from philosophy, theology, truth, and more!Today's episode? A continuation or "chewed-on" version of the discussion in Ep. 5: The Communion of the Church Today, specifically on the response of the faithful in today's history of the Church: an increase in Faith, Hope, Charity. In this episode, Michael discusses the philosophy of virtues and how we are called to respond in the context of the theological virtues.Materials Used for this Episode:Apocalypse (Revelation) 3:16St. John 18St. John 21More on the Theological Virtues: Summa Theologica prima secundae pars, Q. LXII - http://www.newadvent.org/summa/2062.htmCCC1: 1 God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life. For this reason, at every time and in every place, God draws close to man. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church. To accomplish this, when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son as Redeemer and Savior. In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted children and thus heirs of his blessed life.Check out these additional materials from my parish, St. Mary's Catholic Center at Texas A&M University, in response to this present moment:Rule of Life for the Student: http://www.aggiecatholicblog.org/2020/03/rule-of-life-in-the-midst-of-covid-19/Acts of Perfect Contrition and Spiritual Communion: http://www.aggiecatholicblog.org/2020/03/spiritual-communion-and-act-of-perfect-contrition/The Virtue of Chastity Against Porn: http://www.aggiecatholicblog.org/2020/03/now-lets-talk-about-porn/A 30-day Ignatian Retreat in Podcast Form: https://anchor.fm/takingbackthecrownMichael's email: mrtorregosa@gmail.comPlease put "DOH-EP# Discussion" as the subject line.Join me in this great journey of mine as I continue to pursue the greatest truth!Music: The Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP), Requiem
