Heather Allison has had a fascinating life journey filled with grief, transformation, and rebirth. Heather was married when she was younger until she realized how toxic the relationship was, causing her to completely lose herself and all sense of who she was. I have some sad news to share with you. Debbie my friend and co-host of Women of W.I.L.D. has tragically lost her father this past week. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers. I know this is especially hard coming so soon after her mother's death just over a year ago. On this weeks episode Malynda chats with Christian Investigative journalist Julie Roys. The two discuss her relationship with the church, her faith, what she witnessed in evangelical spaces that led her to her current work, and what she thinks the future of the church is. ---------- Julie Roys is a veteran investigative reporter and founder of The Roys Report. Before that, she hosted a national talk show on the Moody Radio Network called Up For Debate. She's also worked as a TV reporter for a CBS affiliate, and as a newswriter for both WGN-TV and Fox News Chicago. Julie's book, Redeeming the Feminine Soul, published in 2017. She's also written for numerous periodicals, including WORLD Magazine, Christianity Today, Religion News Service, and The Federalist.  For ten years, Julie worked for Moody Radio and hosted a popular talk show on the Moody Radio Network called Up For Debate. Prior to that, she had taken a 13-year hiatus from reporting and broadcasting to raise children. And in the 1990s, she worked as a TV reporter for a CBS affiliate in Indiana, and as a newswriter for both WGN-TV and Fox News Chicago.  Julie holds a bachelor's degree in history from Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL, and a master's degree in broadcast journalism from the prestigious Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

Beyond her formal training in economics, Dr. Pakaluk studied Catholic social thought under the mentorship of F. Russell Hittinger, and various aspects of Thomistic thought with Steven A. Long. She is a widely-admired writer and sought-after speaker on matters of culture, gender, social science, the vocation of women, and the work of Edith Stein. She lives in Maryland with her husband Michael Pakaluk and eight children.

In today’s episode we have an authentically feminine theological conversation. I speak with Rev. Rachel Bush, a dear old friend of mine. We’ve travelled very similar paths through becoming ordained in the christian church, and exploring alternative ways of leading outside the church by creating healing spaces in our communities. We look at what it has been like to be a woman, mother, feminist, and minister, and how we are being asked to contribute our authentic voices and experiences to the theological conversation right now. We ask... how is form, flow, and the actual structure of how we gather in communities essentially creating our belief systems? Can we bring the feminine soul into the old masculine forms?
