Together, with Fr. Mike, we arrive at the “nugget day” or summary for the Catechism paragraphs on the Resurrection and the Christian vision of death. Fr. Mike emphasizes that in the face of death, we must not grieve as though we have no hope. He also points out the importance of preparing for the hour of our death. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 1012-1019. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/ciy Please note: The Catechism of the Catholic Church contains adult themes that may not be suitable for children - parental discretion is advised.
Sr Carino and Sr Hyacinthe look at the Gospel for the Fifth Sunday of Easter, where Jesus gives the new commandment of love.Catechism references: 782, 1267, 1823, 2842Each Wednesday morning the Dominican Sisters of St Joseph go deeper into the Gospel reading for the upcoming Sunday by exploring how it is used in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, finding connections in all four sections of the Catechism: the Profession of Faith, the Liturgy and Sacraments, our Life in Christ, and Prayer. In this insightful episode of "Father and Joe," Father Boniface and Joe Rockey delve into a provocative analogy that explores how we integrate the presence of Jesus into our daily life, particularly in the context of modern distractions and the need for full presence in our tasks. Joe shares a relatable story about working from home in a Zoom-driven economy while being mindful of his three-year-old son in the room. This situation becomes a metaphor for many of us who struggle to maintain our focus on our responsibilities while simultaneously trying to keep Jesus in our lives.Father Boniface enriches the discussion by drawing parallels to Saint Joseph working in his carpentry shop with young Jesus at his side, highlighting the notion of being mindful of Jesus as a constant, supportive presence rather than a distant observer judging our actions. This episode invites listeners to re-envision their relationship with Jesus as one of mutual support and love, rather than one of distraction or obligation. The episode further challenges the audience to consider what it truly means to have Jesus "in the room" with them during every aspect of their lives. Father Boniface and Joe discuss practical ways to become more aware of Jesus's presence, transforming our view of Him from a potential distraction into a guiding and supporting presence. They also address the inner conflict many face when trying to balance prayer and spirituality with the pressing demands of everyday life, providing practical advice on how to harmonize these elements.Listeners are encouraged to engage in the practice of calling Jesus to mind periodically through their day, envisioning His supportive and loving presence in both mundane and significant moments. This habitual presence aligns with the spirit of Brother Lawrence's classic work "Practicing the Presence of God."The episode closes with reflections on how integrating Jesus into our daily decision-making process not only nurtures our spiritual growth but can enhance our relationships and professional responsibilities. Through a continuous process of adjustment and reflection, we are invited to align our actions more closely with the divine will, fostering more profound love and joy in our lives. Father Boniface and Joe remind us that as we grow in our relationship with Jesus, we begin to embody His teachings more naturally, finding His influence in the subtleties of everyday life.Tags:faith, spirituality, presence of God, Jesus, daily life, Christian life, spiritual growth, St. Joseph, carpentry, mindful living, distractions, Zoom economy, awareness, prayer life, relationship with God, spiritual direction, Brother Lawrence, spiritual transformation, practicing presence, divine support, religious practices, modern spirituality, religious teachings, personal growth, parental analogy, spiritual awareness, faith journey, living with God, spiritual advice, Christian teachings, mindful spirituality, divine will, overcoming distractions, religious reflections, growing in faith, aligning with God, divine guidance, spiritual practices, church habits, reconnecting with faith.Hashtags:#Faith, #SpiritualGrowth, #PresenceOfGod, #MindfulLiving, #DailyDevotion, #JesusInYourLife, #StJoseph, #ZoomLife, #Carpentry, #DistractedLife, #ReligiousPractice, #FaithJourney, #ChristianLife, #GatheringWithGod, #PrayerLife, #SpiritualDirection, #BrotherLawrence, #TransformativeFaith, #SpiritualAwareness, #SeekingGod, #PerceptionOfGod, #AlignWithDivine, #FaithInModernTimes, #ReligionAndWork, #FaithJourney, #SpiritualAdvice, #ChristianTeachings, #FaithPrayers, #MindfulSpirituality, #SpiritualGuidance, #GodInEveryday, #ReligiousTeachings, #SpiritualPractices, #ChristianFaith, #ReconnectingWithFaith, #LivingInGodsPresence, #PrayingWithPurpose, #FaithAndFamily,

Friends of the Rosary,On May 1st, we honor St. Joseph the Worker, while the secular world celebrates International Workers' Day.Pope Pius XII established the feast in 1955 to honor the dignity of labor and provide a model and protector for all workers. He countered socialist ideology and emphasized the Christian understanding of work as a means of providing for one's family and contributing to the greater good of society. As a carpenter, Joseph supported his family. By the daily labor in his shop, offered to God with patience and joy, St. Joseph provided for the necessities of his holy spouse and of the Incarnate Son of God, and thus became an example to all laborers. He is viewed as a model of dignity and value in human labor. He is the patron saint of workers.Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. 54 And coming into his own country, he taught them in their synagogues, so that they wondered and said: How came this man by this wisdom and miracles?Et veniens in patriam suam, docebat eos in synagogis eorum, ita ut mirarentur, et dicerent : Unde huic sapientia haec, et virtutes? 55 Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brethren James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Jude:Nonne hic est fabri filius? nonne mater ejus dicitur Maria, et fratres ejus, Jacobus, et Joseph, et Simon, et Judas? 56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence therefore hath he all these things?et sorores ejus, nonne omnes apud nos sunt? unde ergo huic omnia ista? 57 And they were scandalized in his regard. But Jesus said to them: A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.Et scandalizabantur in eo. Jesus autem dixit eis : Non est propheta sine honore, nisi in patria sua, et in domo sua. 58 And he wrought not many miracles there, because of their unbelief.Et non fecit ibi virtutes multas propter incredulitatem illorum.Work, imposed on man as a penalty, is transformed into a blessing through his communion with the life and work and death of Jesus Christ, a communion effected by the active part he takes in the Sacrafice and Communion of the Mass---with St Joseph as model and patron. During the Year of St. Joseph, Fr. Edward Looney discovered a crowdfunded project aiming to honor St. Joseph with a powerful public mural in Detroit. After supporting the project himself, Fr. Edward recently had the chance to visit the mural in person—and in this inspiring episode, he speaks with Daniel Egan, the man who helped bring this tribute to life. Together they discuss:
In this episode of Saint Joseph's Workshop, Thomas looks at the feast of the patronage of St. Joseph on the Third Sunday of Easter, originally a feast called the Patronage of St. Joseph, was established in 1847 by Pope Pius IX and celebrated on the third Sunday after Easter. Holy Thursday. The Last Supper. The institution of the Eucharist. And a call to humility. Easter is Sunday. Today, we aredigging into Christ's radical love with St. Joseph as our guide. Jesus washed His disciples' feet and gave us His Body and Blood. This isn't just a story. It's our daily reality, a taste of heaven in every Mass. Peter balked, but Jesus insisted: service and sacrifice define us. The Catechism ties this night to the Cross; St. Augustine sees it as cleansing power. It's Christ's playbook—humility like Joseph's, service over status. Your challenge: Live it today. Wash your wife's and kids' feet if you're married—show them love through action. Can't? Go to Mass, see the altar stripped, feel the weight. Or pray the Litany of Humility. Pick one, do it. Jesus didn't just act to be nice—He saved us, stayed with us. Are you on His team or the devil's? No gray area, men—choose. Products/References Mentioned: Catechism of the Catholic Church Gaudium et Spes (Second Vatican Council) Council of Trent (1551) St. Augustine's writings St. Cyril of Jerusalem's writings St. Thomas Aquinas's writings Benedict XVI's reflection Litany of HumilityPowerful Quotes: “Jesus, the master, the maker, the creator, the king of kings, kneels down to wash his disciples' feet.” “The Eucharist is the gift that surpasses all gifts. A moment where heaven touches earth.” “If you're not willing to risk everything for God, then who are you willing to risk it at all for?”Key Takeaway:Serve someone today—wash a foot, attend Mass, or pray humbly. One day away. Palm Sunday is tomorrow. Holy Week's knocking. Are you ready? I'm diving into the privileges of devotion to St. Joseph, pulling from Father Calloway's Consecration to St. Joseph and the wisdom of saints like St. Josemaría Escrivá. Today's about why loving St. Joseph matters. Blessed Maria Teresa of St. Joseph went from a Protestant home to a nun, leaning on him through rejection and hardship. Venerable Mary of Ágreda lists seven graces he brings like purity, a happy death, and terrifying demons. Our Lady herself told mystics his intercession's unmatched. Why? He loved Jesus and Mary most after God, living humility and silence we can't fathom. Here's your challenge: Reflect on your Lent. How's it going? Slipped up? Forgotten your goals? Look to St. Joseph's obedience and quiet strength—make this Holy Week your best yet. Men, Satan hates Joseph's power. Want to shield your family and grow closer to Christ? Devotion to him is your weapon. Products/References Mentioned: Consecration to St. Joseph by Father Donald Calloway The Mystical City of God by Venerable Mary of Ágreda St. Josemaría Escrivá's quote on St. JosephPowerful Quotes: “He is the person who has most loved God after our mother. He deserves your affection and it will do you good to get to know him because he is the master of the interior life.” “In virtue of these special privileges, the intercession of St. Joseph is most powerful… for attaining the virtue of purity and overcoming the sensual inclinations of the flesh.” “The whole human race has much undervalued the privileges and prerogatives conceded to my blessed spouse, and they know not what his intercession with God is able to do.”Key Takeaway:Pause today—reflect on St. Joseph's silence and humility. Apply it now to refocus your Lent and enter Holy Week with purpose. Day 33 of our Lenten journey with St. Joseph is upon us and we are just two days from Palm Sunday. Feeling worn down? This episode's for you. I'm diving into Pope Leo XIII's 1889 encyclical, Quamquam Pluries, unpacking why St. Joseph's intercession is our lifeline in tough times. Pope Leo saw faith fading, charity cooling, and the Church under attack. He urged Catholics to turn to St. Joseph, Mary's spouse and guardian of Jesus, for divine help. Why him? Because the Word of God obeyed him, and that authority still shakes Satan. Today, I'm challenging you: What do you need to fast from? Look at your life—phone addiction, late nights, old sins creeping back? Satan's not creative; he's just observant, hitting your weak spots. Is it drawing me to Christ or pulling me away? Men, we're in a desert like Jesus before His ministry. Basics matter: sleep, food, water. Neglect those, and your spiritual foundation's sand. Pope Leo reminds us the stakes are souls. Our Lady at Fatima said the final fight's for the family. What's distracting you from that mission? Identify it, fast from it today. Hit play for a reflection to realign your will with God's. Products/References Mentioned: Quamquam Pluries encyclical by Pope Leo XIII Fatima message from the Blessed Virgin MaryPowerful Quotes: “The times we live in are scarcely less deplorable for the Christian religion than the worst days, which in time past were most full of misery to the Church.” “Satan and his demons, they're not creative in their attacks… they just observe you very well and they remember.” “If you're not taking care of yourself and your family, no matter what Satan is doing, you need to take care of yourself.”Key Takeaway:Fast from one distraction today—phone, a vice, anything pulling you from Christ. Start now; it's your first step to strengthening your family against evil.
