This week we finally found out the reason Jonah first disobeyed God and tried to escape doing His will. The sinfulness of Jonah's heart is on display in Jonah 4 as he hopes and desires for God's wrath to be poured on Nineveh. God has a different response to the repentance of the Ninevites. God challenges us to care about His plan more than our own. Support the show (https://fbcelreno.com/give/)
Jonah 3 shows us the extent to which God will go as He gives Jonah a second chance to be obedient to go to the Ninevites with God's warning. The people of Nineveh experience the power of God as they humble themselves and turn from their wickedness to seek the Lord. Our God is a gracious, patient God and He is giving all of us many opportunities to be lovingly obedient.Support the show (https://fbcelreno.com/give/)

Holden McCrackin, Next Gen and Missions Pastor, brings a message from Matthew 16:13-20. Every generation and every person in that generation must answer one critical question, "Who do you say I am?" That is the question is THE question that must be answered. Listen to the response of the disciples, the response of Peter. What is your response?
John 12:26 (CSB)If anyone serves me, he must follow me. Where I am, there my servant also will be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him. What does it mean to follow Christ? Following Christ will result in service; service flows out of our relationship with Christ as we seek to follow Him and spend time in His presence. Service to others brings the blessings of Jesus. Alan Quigley, Interim Pastor, brings a message from John 12:20-28
From Ephesians 1:1-14, Alan Quigley, interim pastor, brings a message about identity. From where do you get your identity? Men often gain their identity through their function at work. Women often gain their identity through relationships. Those are generalizations for certain, but in what do you find identity?

Tyler Kelley, Discipleship and Family Pastor, teaches from John 15:1-13. Jesus' last instructions to his disciples are powerful as we seek to be more and more like Jesus. Jesus commanded his disciples to abide or remain in Him. Doing that leads to a production of fruit but the key is remaining in Him. Listen in now.

Holden McCrackin, Next Gen and Missions Minister, brings a timely message from Matthew 8:23-27. During this time or any time for that matter, on what are you and I building our lives? What is the foundation of your life and mine? Are we building our lives on the Word of God? Give it a listen.
Senator James Lankford brings a message of hope and encouragement in the Lord Jesus Christ. Using II Corinthians 5:14-21, he reminds believers and unbelievers that Jesus died and was raised again--and that means something important for our lives. No one, absolutely no one is beyond hope because Christ Jesus offers new life--if anyone is in Christ, that person is a new creation. And we are encouraged to share the story of God's work in our own lives. Take heart! Be of good courage. Jesus has overcome death and the grave.
Griff Henderson, Oklahoma Baptists Northwestern Ministry Partner, brings a message from John 17 about Jesus' prayer for his disciples, then and now. Listen in today.
From Romans 1:13-16 Alan Quigley brings a message of hope for this time. We might look at the life of Paul when he was sitting in the Roman jail and think that he was limited in what could possibly be done. Paul did not, however, have that view. He had confidence that the Lord was going to use those circumstances to share the gospel with the whole world. What did Paul do? He started with those Roman guards assigned to guard him, and the Gospel went out to the ends of the earth. Give this message by Alan a listen. And thanks for listening!
Tyler Kelley, Pastor for Discipleship and Families looks at the story of Esther and how God used her to help others overcome difficulty and hardship.
Charlie Blount shares his last message as pastor with FBCER from Philippians 1:3-11 with a message of encouragement to the church.
As Pastor Charlie prepares to follow God on a new step of his journey to First Moore he has very timely message for the people of FBCER: Don't Stop.
Our prayer is to be prayer asked in faith--faith that God will grant our request. Jesus used a fig tree as an object lesson to teach us to cultivate our internal life so that what is seen on the outside reflects what God is doing in our lives. Check out this message in our series ASK!
Rick Cordova, Pastor of Bright City Church in Oklahoma City tells the story of Bright City and the work of that church and brings a message from I Kings 3:1-15. The story of Solomon's prayer at the beginning of his reign as King of Israel is a spiritual lesson in humility and trust.
The 4th installment of our ASK series, this message looks at Jesus and his life of prayer. Jesus prayed regularly; he prayed submissively, that is, he prayed always with the attitude that what the Father desires is above all else and is to be obeyed; he prayed fervently. Allow these truths about the pattern Jesus set for us to mold and make your praye rlife powerful.
Prayer is both a privilege and a responsibility. In Luke 18:1-8, Jesus points to a widow who pursues justice from the hands of a judge who lacks respect for God and man. This example of persistent prayer serves as a negative lesson. Our Father is the opposite of this judge; our Father is good and loving. He desires to give good gifts to His daughters and sons.
"Ask, and it will be given to you." That is an invitation to pray. What we know of children is that they are usually very specific in their asking? But with God, we tend to get less specific as we get "wiser" with age. What is it that God is inspiring you to ask? Look at Mark 10:46-52 to see prayer in action.
Charlie Blount introduces the 2020 theme for FBCER: ASK. Follow along with Matthew 7:7, Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you.
Charlie Blount brings important truths which were reaffirmed during his recent sabbatical--the need for rest, the need to be with God's people in worship, the need to belong to a local church. Give a listen.
Holden McCrackin, Next Gen & Missions Minister, explores what is means to be on mission--to go and make disciples in El Reno, in the United States and around the world. What is this task that God is calling all believers to do? How do we let our let shine so that others come to Christ. Give it a listen.
Tyler Kelley, Discipleship and Family Pastor, teaches what it means to be a disciple and how FBCER is seeking to make disciples. The church has a part to play as well as each believer. Are you participating in growing yourself as a disciple and also seeking to assist other believers in their spiritual growth?
Tyler Kelley, Family and Discipleship Pastor, helps us look at what it means to be a disciple. A disciple is called by God, responds to God and orients their life to God. If you find that your relationship to God is a weekend event, then God is calling you to a deeper relationship which orients you to a life revolve centered on Him. Give this message a listen and respond as God leads.
From December 22, Charlie Blount finishes a 2 part series on Matthew's view of Jesus the Messiah. In Matthew 2, we see various responses that people have to the idea of Jesus as King. Excerpt from the message: Now while you and I might look at that [Herod’s] response and say, “Man is that not extreme? That a guy is so paranoid about losing his kingship, he would go and have mass murder committed against small male children.” I think if we’re not careful, we fail to see the same problem that exists in our own hearts. Because while many of us are content with the Jesus that might save us from hell, many of us are threatened by the idea of a Jesus who has come to rule and reign over our heart and life. Herod was threatened; the king's advisers were indifferent; but the magi search for the King to worship Him. What is your response to the King?
Matthew begins his narrative of Jesus with a genealogy tracing Jesus' earthly lineage from Abraham to David to Joseph. What is the significance of this genealogy and why did Matthew begin here? There are also women included in this list--highly unusual in that cultural context. This list reveals that Jesus is a different kind of King--a King of grace.
