Friend of the show, Natalie returns to join Graham to do something shocking. Get Joe to watch a new movie released in 2023. This episode we are talking 2023's The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster, a contemporary spin on Mary Shelley's classic tale of science and control.
The novel FRANKENSTEIN OR THE MODERN PROMETHEUS was written back in 1818, by Mary Shelley, and since then the story has become one of the most famous stories of all time. And Frankenstein's Monster is one of the most iconic creatures to ever been created. Films, plays, and spin off novels have been made of it. And in many cases, the story has been used as the basis of other tales. The new movie THE ANGRY BLACK GIRL AND HER MONSTER (2023) is just another example.Vicaria (Laya DeLeon Hayes) lives with her widower father. Years earlier her mother was murdered in a random shooting and most recently, her brother Chris (Edem Atsu-Swanzy) was killed in a drug related gang hit. Science is Vicaria's thing, and she has learned how to bring back the dead. Unfortunately, her brother Chris comes back yet isn't the young man she used to know. The movie was written and directed as the feature length debut for Bomani J. Story. The film's cast also includes Denzel Whitaker and Chad Coleman among others. Released earlier in the year in a limited run, the film quickly landed up on VOD and the Shudder television network. Chosen as a contest winning film by listener and podcaster Amy for the Halloween movie discussion, your co-hosts take a look at this new Frankenstein take and give their thoughts on it.
The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster is a 2023 American science-fiction horror film written and directed by Bomani J. Story in his directorial debut. It stars Laya DeLeon Hayes, Denzel Whitaker, Chad Coleman, Reilly Brooke Stith, Keith Sean Holliday, Amani Summer, and Edem Atsu-Swanzy. Adapted from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, the film follows a brilliant teenage girl named Vicaria (Hayes) who resurrects her brother from the dead, only for him to come back a vengeful monster. The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster premiered at the South by Southwest film festival on March 11, 2023. The film was released in select US theaters on June 9, 2023, and on streaming on June 23, 2023. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/frumess/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/frumess/support

On this episode of the Fandom Hybrid Podcast, we found a new show to discuss: the Amazon Prime animated series Invincible, based on the comic books series of the same name, written by Robert Kirkman. Invincible tells the story of Mark Grayson, an awkward teenage boy who is half-human, half-Viltrumite. His father is Omni-Man, one of the superhero protectors of Earth; there are other heroes in this episode (called the Guardians of the Globe). This episode introduces us to the complexities of not only being a newly powered teenager trying to balance high school life with a desire to be a superhero, but also shows us that the life of a "superhero" is not always what it seems. This show boasts a "who's who" of voice talent: Steven Yeun (ahem, excuse me - 2021 Best Actor nominee Steven Yeun!), Lauren Cohan, Ross Marquand, Chad Coleman, Sonequa Martin-Green, Lennie James, and Michael Cudlitz - who have all worked on another little show Kirkman did called The Walking Dead; Sandra Oh, J.K. Simmons, Zazie Beetz, Kevin Michael Richardson, Mahershala Ali, Mark Hamill, Walton Goggins...I think you get the picture. The end of the episode contains a huge twist that all but guarantees that you will tune in for the next episode. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/fandomhybridpodcast/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/fandomhybridpodcast/support

On this episode of the Nine Finger Chronicles podcast, Dan talks with Chad Coleman of Missouri about his recent purchase of 32 acres he plans to hunt. First the guys discuss the surrounding neighborhood and what made the property appealing to purchase in the first place. Then they discuss all of the work that has already been done to the farm and what projects he plans to complete over the next couple years. Last but not least they chat about, food plots, property costs, hinge cutting, habitat improvements, and what his expectations are for the upcoming season. Greg Nicotero gave Tyreese a beautiful send off in this tearjerking episode of The Walking Dead. We witness the tragic yet beautiful way that Tyreese processes his last moments in the physical world. Though we wished he had been able to kick The Governor (also Beth) out of his death dreams, we still found the episode touching and impactful. We both felt this episode was a true testament to what a skilled actor Chad Coleman is and how inconsistent the writing has been. Where was this amazing material for Tyreese in previous episodes?! Meanwhile, what is going on with Rick and Michonne?! They’re out here having a moment, Michonne is being vulnerable, and then here comes Everybody Hates Chris aka Noah stealing our joy. Even if it was for a good cause, we are still a little salty. We also talk about how on point Rick’s beard game is, and the fact that poor Beth never got a funeral. First, her sister (and pretty much everyone but Daryl) forgets about her. Then they devise a rescue mission to save Carol, and as an afterthought, Beth. Now she doesn’t even get a proper burial?! We didn’t particularly like her either, but that’s savage, even by our standards! Callaway Golf does social media content better than anyone in golf, and we're on the short list of the best social brands period. Chad Coleman is our man behind the innovative, engaging, and entertaining content that you see on Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and our other channels, and you probably know him better as "Hashtag Chad". Hashtag has been instrumental in our commitment to constantly interacting with golfers, and making everyone feel like they are right in the middle of all the action here at Callaway. He's on the Pirate Ship, with a big smile as always, to tell us how his role has evolved, how he covers events like this week's Tour Championship on site, and why it's so important to connect with golfers every day. **The PirateShip Show is a twice-weekly podcast series hosted by our SVP of Marketing, Harry Arnett, and CMP Correspondent, Amanda Balionis, and takes you inside the innovative world of the Callaway marketing team (AKA the Zoo Crew). In which Chad discusses his role, beginning and end (spoilers), as Tyreese on AMC's The Walking Dead, as well as other portions of professional and parental life. What? He doesn't just bash walkers with a hammer? Exactly.

I've been enjoying Chad Coleman's measured portrayal of Tyreese, this multi-faceted character who with his hammer and his wool cap seemed to have burst straight out of the pages of the comic this season, especially once he became activated by Karen's death. It was a pleasure to speak with Chad as he thoughtfully answered everything we wanted to know. Join me and special guest Brittany as we find out things like:* What Tyreese would've done if he had found out Carol killed Karen before she left the prison (his answer might surprise you—it did me).* What it was like to film that crazy scene by the road where Tyreese hammers his way through a massive crowd of zeds.* How Chad sees the relationship between Tyreese and Rick.* What was going on in the S3 finale when Tyreese abruptly left the room seeming like he had a purpose.* How working on TWD compares to his time on the acclaimed HBO show The Wire.* And much more! Hope you enjoy the interview as much as we did! For all our listeners in the U.S., happy Thanksgiving! Today on the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Economic Opportunities for Black Americans, we speak to director, Noel Calloway, whose film, Life, Love, Soul is a pause in the narrative that is America today. If 1 and 3 children are living in homes without their fathers, then what does that say about our collective sense of family and the role men play in the lives of their children. When we look at men like Martin King and at his family, the sacrifice they made for the nation and world, when their father was absent from home too many times to count, before he was killed. How many important engagements did he miss? How many goodnight kisses were imagined in phone calls home? In Life, Love, Soul Calloway's character, Roosevelt, raised by a single mom, doesn't know his father and perhaps thinks he doesn't need to know him when the two lives collide in catastrophy when his mother and younger sibling are killed and he has to spend his senior year in high school with dad. Don't expect a cliche here. the director's story which plays quite close to home, is anything but what one expects. it is perhaps this unexpected tale that keeps one engaged and then delighted enough to want to see it again. I think I watched it a total of 5-6 times (smile). A graduate of Clark Atlanta University, the native NYer, Calloway's first feature sets a high bar in story and cast with many box office headliners like Terri J Vaughn, Jamie Hector, Chad Coleman and new actors, like Valerie Simpson and lead actor,

Oh, and fever dream spoiler section that has Jim and A.Ron nervous for what is coming ahead. NOTE: IF TRUE, THESE ARE MEGAWATT SPOILERS AND YOU SHOULD AVOID THEM UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE THE NEXT EPISODE COMPLETELY SPOILED.
