I think that we can all agree, especially if you’re someone who is trying to do your best of tuning in and honoring your truth, the still small voice guiding your life, that there inevitably comes a time when your soul comes knocking on your hearts door and whispering to you that this is the way. Like, this is the direction that you’re supposed to go.And often times, the way, it’s not clear, it’s full of uncertainty, it doesn’t always make sense and therefore you can’t really explain why you’re about to do what you’re about to do.First off, if you are in that season I just want to say that I honor you because I think it takes a tremendous amount of courage to even acknowledge that path. And secondly, if you’re there or you’ve been there before, then you know that honoring your truth during these decisions is really grey because it’s not always clear and usually there’s some sort of metaphorical death happening. A letting go. A walking away. And it can be hard. And I don’t know about you, but for me, there are times when I can’t help but to wonder if I’m actually hearing my soul’s call, my truth, that’s leading me on my journey of finding my way, or is this just a rogue feeling and in all actuality I’m about to blow up my life and make a huge mistake.Well, lucky for us, there are those who have gone before us who have laid out questions and wisdom that can help mirror back to us, if we’re willing to be honest with ourselves, if in fact that what we are hearing or the decision that we’re about to make is actually our truth or if there is something else happening. In this short 25 minute podcast, I cover 4 questions, or thoughts, that can help you navigate this season of life.Learn more at www.calebcampbell.meSubscribe to my newsletter, here.

Welcome back to another episode of Finding Your Way. Today on the show, I had a chance to sit down and talk to Dr. Caroline Leaf about her new book, Cleaning Up Your Mental Mess.Dr. Leaf holds a very special place in my heart and you’ll hear about it it at the beginning of the episode, but after this podcast and having the chance to sit and talk with her more, I just have the utmost respect and adoration for her. The work that she has dedicated her life has not only changed my life but I know it has changed the lives of so many others. And, I say this with 100% confidence, I know that it can also change your life. You know, when I first started this healing journey after walking away from the NFL, I came across a quote by Victor Frankl, and maybe you’ve heard it, but it says between stimulus and response is a space and in that space is the power to choose our response. And, in our response, lies our growth and freedom. That’s so powerful and I bring up that quote because alot of what Dr. Leaf’s book, Cleaning Up Your Mental Mess and also this podcast episode is about is essentially the step by step process on how you can began to recognize that sliver of space between stimulus and response in your own life and begin to choose your response in a way that is conducive to the life that you actually want to live.To sum it all up in a sentence, it’s really all about learning how to take back the power to your life.In her book, Cleaning Up Your Mental Mess, Dr. Leaf breaks down the five action-oriented steps called the Neurocycle, that will help you eliminate the root of anxiety, depression and intrusive thoughts so that you can begin to build a healthy new and automated neural network inside of your brain. It’s powerful, powerful, powerful. We hear all about you know, doing the work, and this is the work. Literally, the playbook of how to do the work. And if you don’t know, Dr. Leaf is a communication pathologist and a cognitive neuroscientist and what I love about her is that she has the uncanny ability to take the very complex science and all the intricacies around what is happening in our brains as we are not only traumatized, or experience trauma in life, but also as we are healing and she is able to break it down in a way that enables you to comprehend, and understand and to see more clearly what is actually happening.Another cool thing that you should know is that Dr. Leaf was one of the first in her field to study how the Brian can change with directed mind input. She has helped hundreds of thousands of students and adults learn how to use t heir mind to detox and grow their brain, helping them succeed in every area of their lives, including school, university and the workplace. You can follow Dr. Leaf, here. You can buy her new book, Cleaning Up Your Mental Mess, here. You can follow me, here. You can subscribe to my new newsletter, here.

I recently had the chance to sit down with Spiritual Teacher and Astrologer, Danielle Paige and my god is she a force to be reckoned with. About 7 or 8 months ago, astrology kept popping up in random conversations that I was having with different people and I realized that it was something that was trying to get my attention. So, I reached out to an astrologer who was recommended to me, booked an appointment, and for the first time had my birth chart read. And, I can honestly say, that this session has had such a massive impact on me—especially when it comes to understanding my purpose in life and the work that I’m called to do.I have to be honest with you, leading up to that session, I had so many misunderstandings and misconceptions about what astrology is. And, I’ve done a lot of inner work and that session helped me see things and understand things about who I am and why I’m here that I haven’t been able to see or understand yet. SO a big reason why I wanted to have this conversation with Danielle Paige is to address those misconceptions and also give you, the listener, especially if you’ve never had your birth chart read, a taste of what it is like.First half of this episode, we talk about the misconceptions of Astrology and how it differs from just reading your horoscope. And on the second half, Danielle does a quick dive into reading my personal birth chart. If you don’t know, Danielle Paige is an International Spiritual Teacher, Soul Astrologer, Host of Cosmic Body Podcast and Founder of Purposely Divine: School For Your Soul and Astrology Mystery School. She’s a self-taught astrologer, who’s been reading the stars for lifetimes, she continued her studies with some of the world’s top astrologers. We discuss it in the podcast, but I met Rob shortly after having my first panic attack shortly after moving to LA and his breathwork class forever marked my life. To give you a little more context, Rob discovered his passion for breathwork after playing college football at Georgetown University. Shortly after moving into a 9-5 post college job that left rob feeling frustrated as if he felt something was missing in his life, Rob felt called to leave his previous life behind, move to LA and adopt a healthier lifestyle. It was through this transition from Chicago, leaving his old life that no longer served him behind, that he found the power of breathwork that changed his life. Now, Rob is sharing this transformative practice with others around Los Angeles. Rob believes breathwork to be the most effective modality in achieving clarity, connecting with our higher selves and tapping into the deep pool of creative energy we all have access to. So, if you want to know more about breathwork, if you’re in that liminal space of letting go of the tried and true and waiting for the new, if you’re stepping away from a previous life and starting over, this episode is definitely for you. If you know anything about my story then you probably know that after I walked away from the NFL, I moved to Canada where I started to serve a church so that I could get mentored and start healing the pain that was keeping me stuck and miserable in life. And as you might imagine, the first several months of this season of life was anything but easy. I was more confused and frustrated and angry than ever before. I’ve never felt so lost and my heart was drowning in a sea of despair. The hard part wasn’t necessarily finding the discipline to show up every day, that wasn’t the case. The hard part, and maybe you can relate, was trying to understand what was happening in my heart and in my life. Nothing made sense. I couldn’t conceptually understand what was happening. There was no formula for this process, no playbook that gave me a play by play. It felt as if I was walking blind and had no idea where my next step was going to land me. The uncertainty of this season of surrendering, or letting go, was almost unbearable until one day, while cleaning the church’s bathrooms, I heard Jonathan come on a random podcast and share his own story of brokenness, his season of surrendering, or letting go, or what he calls his Shipwreck. From that moment on, everything changed. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I consumed every piece of content that I could get my hands on that Jonathan published and his voice and through his written word, his story slowly became a prophesy for what was to come in my own life, and truthfully, I’ve never been the same.

If you can relate to any of this, then you don’t want to miss this episode. When I walked away from the NFL and went on this healing journey, I was the least self-aware person you’ve ever met. Sitting still was out of the question and I was constantly having knee-jerk reactions to my emotions. Overwhelmed by my feelings, I would be lost in them for what seemed like days upon days leaving me more anxious and more depressed then ever before. That’s why I love this episode with Steven Matthew Adams. Steven not only helps people design sustainably happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives, but his work promotes enhanced self-awareness and meaningful change by integrating Eastern Wisdom and western living. In this episode we break down why people aren’t happy and what you can do about it. We talk about meditation and the art of sitting still. And Steven takes time to break down how you can begin to observe your thoughts and feelings without getting overwhelmed and so much more. I hope you learn from Steven and this episode as much as I did.   Find Steven on Instagram Here Read More About Steven Here Order His Book Here

I opened up the podcast with Jedidiah Jenkins with a question that was influenced by Richard Rohr’s book, Falling Upward. The message of Falling Upward is straightforward and bracing: the spiritual life is not static. You will come to a crisis in your life, and after the crisis, if you are open to it, you will enter a space of spiritual refreshment, peace and compassion that you could not have imagined before. What you thought you knew about living the spiritual life no longer suffices for the life you are now living. With that being said, I wanted to know how Jed’s relationship with God, or how his view of Christianity has changed as he navigated the depths of his own brokenness and crisis. Here’s what he had to say.

In this episode of the Naked Soul podcast, I had the the absolute privilege of sitting with Jedidiah Jenkins. Jed is someone who has continuously blessed and encouraged me in life, not just because he’s a profound writer and author or because he’s an influencer and entrepreneur, but he has blessed and encouraged me because he as chosen to live a brave life. A brave life where he continuously does the hard things like showing up and allowing himself to be fully seen. And on this episode we talk about the power of community, self-acceptance, belonging and Jed takes the time to get really raw and really vulnerable as he opens up about one of the more darker moments of his life and how he worked through that shame. Sitting down with Jed for this episode was like going to church and more and I hope that this episode and his words are as healing for you as they were for me. And, in case you don’t know, Jed is so many different things to include the Executive Editor for Wilderness magazine and most recently, he published his book, To Shake A Sleeping Self. This book will make you laugh, cry, then laugh some more, and then cry some more. In this brazenly honest book, Jed shares with us how on the eve of turning thirty, terrified of being funneled into a life he didn't choose, He quits his dream job and spends the next sixteen months cycling from Oregon to Patagonia. He chronicled the trip on Instagram, where his photos and profound reflections on life soon attracted hundreds of thousands of followers and got him featured by National Geographic and The Paris Review. On this adventure, As he traverses cities, mountains, and exotic locales, Jed grapples with the questions of what it means to be an adult, his struggle to reconcile his sexual identity with his conservative Christian upbringing, and his belief in travel as a way to "wake us up" to life back home. This is a book that I can’t recommend enough. Buy a copy for yourself, for your family, for your friends, heck, buy a copy for your mailman. Seriously, it’s that good.

One of the reasons that I love Episode 3 with Morgan Harper Nichols so much is because Morgan took the time to be open and honest about the doubt that she has experienced in her journey to where she is at now. I took the time to ask her what she would say to those who finds themselves in the same place she was in not too long ago knowing what she knows now. If you’re in a season where you took a big risk with your life, or you walked away from a career to follow your passion or maybe you just left a relationship and you’re not quite sure where it’s all leading, then this is for you.

This episode of the Naked Soul Podcast, I had a chance to sit with Morgan Harper Nichols, and I can not even begin to tell you how excited I am to share this conversation with you all. Morgan is a writer, artist, and musician who makes her work around people and their stories. In 2017, Morgan started a project where she invites people to submit their stories to her website. From there, she creates art inspired by what they send her, and then, sends them the art, for free. Nearly everything Morgan creates and shares today, that you see on Instagram, is from this project. And this project reaches hundreds of thousands of people. But, that’s not what I’m most excited about. What I’m most excited about was Morgan willingness to be honest, vulnerable and transparent. I think we can all agree that at some point in time, we can find ourselves in life feeling so far behind. We get caught up in these seasons where nothing is seemingly going right, life as we once knew it is falling apart and we don’t know how things are going to possibly work out. And, what I really love about this episode is that Morgan was there, full of doubt and despair, but she so beautifully reminds us that we are only a moment away from everything changing. In Morgan’s darkest hour, in a season where nothing made sense, a season where no matter how hard she tried, nothing was going right , she published a poem from this place of brokenness that changed everything. I hope that this conversation reminds you that no matter how bad it might get, no matter how lost you might feel, no matter how much doubt you wake up with, you are only one moment from your life forever changing. I hope this episode blesses you as much as it did me.

I’m not for sure if you have had a chance to listen to episode #2—surrendering to the force of love with Allision Fallon, and if you haven’t, I highly encourage you to do so, but I wanted to publish this short clip from the episode because I think it’s so important to recognize this in each one of our lives. In this clip, I love how she uses the language of surrendering to the force of love and what she means by that and what I take from that is that there is a bigger story being played out in the midst of our own stories of brokenness, heartbreak and pain. Often times, it’s so easy, especially in the midst of heartbreak or transition or when life throws us a curve balls, it’s so easy to make life all about what’s not happening or what’s not going right or the pain that we’re currently in, but when we recognize that the force of love is at play, we can rest knowing that despite things not working out the way we might have expected them to work out, or despite the pain that is happening in your life in this moment, love is at work & what’s meant for you, won’t miss you. But, it’s our job to begin to realize that in the midst of it all, there is an opportunity to surrender to love and in the process we can begin to heal from the inside out and become more like love.

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am for this episode with my friend Allison Fallon. She drops so many truth bombs as we discuss: Why relationships are important and what they are really trying to teach us. How to become more aware of your triggers and how to work through them. How to navigate the journey of letting go so that you can create the space for the new. What you can do when those closest to you are not supporting you on your journey of personal growth. And lastly, she talks to us about what she wishes she would have known if she could go back and do it all over again. If case you don’t know, Allison is a bestselling author and founder of Find Your Voice, a community she built to support anyone who wants to write anything. She is the author of 12 books and has coached thousands of authors to outline, draft, edit and publish their work. She will be the first to tell you that she is not a therapist, guru, or life coach, but she does think that you are remarkable and she wants nothing more but for you to think that, too. I hope that you enjoy this episode. You can find Ally on Instagram, here.
