Throughout our lives, we hear so many voices of others telling us who and how we should be. Societal norms, our parents, our partners…it can feel like everyone wants something for us and from us.  To cope with this, we develop limiting beliefs, survival strategies and masks that we wear. We start to think these things are really who we are, and they become our roadmap for life…unless we find the courage to look within and discover who we really want to be. In this episode, I talk with fellow life coach and kindness curator, Dr. Jeremy Goldberg, about how we can break out of the boxes that the world tries to put us in, find what we want in life and create a new reality of kindness on the planet. We talk about how to listen to your “heart whispers” instead of fear, what intuition does (and doesn't) sound like, the role of the ego and the one thing you can do today to break through limiting beliefs. Jeremy is a master of making these big concepts simple through great metaphors and analogies that will help you find more authenticity and peace within.  Listen to discover: How one act of kindness changed Dr. Jeremy Goldberg's life How to listen to your heart and find who you really are What the ego is + a bigger perspective on life How to audit your life and find your limiting beliefs Choosing wholeness over happiness Being human is hard, and we're all trying to figure it out one day at a time. When we take the brave step to find our true self, live with compassion and treat our fellow humans with kindness, we not only change our lives…we can change the world!  “I believe that beliefs are choices.” - Dr. Jeremy Goldberg “People may not know who they are, but they do know that they're not living the life that makes them peaceful. They know that they're not living from their true self.” - Michelle Chalfant  “We're all human, and we all have the same exact problems.” - Michelle Chalfant “Sometimes if we're unclear about what we do want, we can approach that same thing from the opposite trajectory, which is, ‘What do you NOT want?'” - Dr. Jeremy Goldberg “It's really hard to change the picture when you're living in the frame.” - Dr. Jeremy Goldberg “Heart whispers, and fear shouts.” - Dr. Jeremy Goldberg "The mind is really loud. Our brains are megaphones of fear, comparison, criticism and judgment. And so, my advice would be to get still and feel God." - Dr. Jeremy Goldberg "Intuition doesn't come at you with all this fear and screaming at you." - Michelle Chalfant "It's undeniable that your upbringing affects your life. It affects your nervous system. It affects the way that you see the world around you." - Dr. Jeremy Goldberg "I think a lot of people chase happiness instead of allowing wholeness." - Dr. Jeremy Goldberg LINKS & RESOURCES  Dr. Jeremy Goldberg Website https://www.longdistancelovebombs.com/ Dr. Jeremy Goldberg Instagram https://www.instagram.com/longdistancelovebombs/ Long Distance Love Bombs Podcast (Dr. Jeremy Goldberg Podcast) https://www.longdistancelovebombs.com/podcast  "It'll Be Okay, and You Will Be Too." Most of us coaches, players, and parents, take for granted the enormous amount of work that goes on behind the scenes from a small group of individuals. Who orders the jerseys, takes registrations, and organizes the ice schedules. Who tracks payments and waivers, runs the tryouts, and puts together the committees and communicates to the parents? So much of what we think about regarding a hockey association or organization, has to do with things that happen on the ice. "Who we are is eternal. Everything else is temporary." -Leila Dylla   The incredible Leila Dylla is joining us today, and this was a beautiful treat. She has such a wide and varied story and background, and brings with her an incredibly holistic approach to how she shows up. Leila is inspiring the heart of change around the world through her writing, speaking, and passionate teaching.  As a leader in the modern day spiritual and wellness world, she has been teaching Yoga Asana for over a decade, and is deeply inspired by the path of Bhakti Yoga, energy medicine, transcendental psychology & breath work.  She spent the last 8 years sharing her insights leading group retreats, and Yoga Teacher Trainings. Leila now specializes in trauma informed life coaching, as she guides women back to their Feminine embodiment, Truth, and authentic personal power.  Leila's background in kinesiology, nutrition, rehabilitative movement, and energy medicine, gives her rare insight into the body and the health challenges faced by women navigating our current culture.  Her deepest passion lies in unraveling and empowering the divine feminine force of the world, and awakening the individual hearts of her clients.  She is an intuitive, self-proclaimed comedian (I can fully attest to her hilarity) and light hearted enthusiast of sacred living. Leila and her dog Folly are usually found in the sunshine, with a cup of coffee in hand. This conversation with Leila was nothing short of magical. It may have taken us a few months to make it happen, but it was well worth the wait! We're going into: Radical self approval Learning how to move through emotions without having them swallow us Developing a flexible nervous system - especially when it comes to matters of the heart. How conscious relationships can be a source of deep healing The idea of receiving - for both men and women Living a full, technicolour life and everything that involves.   And so much more than could ever be listed in a few bullet points, truly. I'm pretty sure if Leila was a colour, she would be a panoply of every colour of the rainbow, and it comes through in every moment of this discussion. In the latest episode of the podcast, Jeremy Goldberg joins Joe to discuss the psychology of behavior change. They use a concept developed by B.J. Fogg in his book, Tiny Habits, to explain the dynamics of sustainable habits and change. The Fogg Behavior model can be found here. “If we want to create a kinder world, we need to be kinder to ourselves. I think the way to do that is to understand ourselves on a deeper level, cultivate an awareness of what's going on inside of us, and recognize that everything that goes on internally is projected out into the world.” Key Highlights: How Jeremy first got started with his concept of a “lovebomb”, as well as how his mission has evolved over time Why the world needs to learn how to make kindness cool and compassion commonplace How we can use kindness to create an alternative world where support and community exist all around us How to have the best life and best relationships with the least amount of work possible How identifying what you don't want is a crucial first step towards creating a life that you do want Why personal growth requires consciously embracing the shit-sandwich every single day

We live in a world where people are so consumed by their traditional, busy lifestyles and don't prioritize showing kindness and empathy toward one another. Our guest today is someone who has made it their philosophy and mission to make kindness cool, empathy popular, and compassion commonplace. Dr. Jeremy Goldberg, behavioral scientist, author, speaker, and mentor, joins us today to talk about his mission for kindness, empathy, and compassion. Throughout today's episode, we dive deep into how the traditional definition of men leads to social issues, why we need to have more kindness, empathy, and compassion towards one another, and tips and tricks for getting things done and successfully achieving life goals.Jeremy starts the discussion by sharing his thoughts on what inspires and influences him the most at the moment. We also talk about the book he's writing, the inspiration behind it, and the main focus of the book. Getting into deeper topics, we talk about how most men don't prioritize self-love and taking care of themselves. We dive into the social and cultural factors that contribute to this behavior and how to avoid it. Another issue that affects many men is that the traditional definition of manhood does not leave men with much room to express their emotions and vulnerable moments. This can lead to certain emotional issues among men and, in some cases, violence. We dive into why men's tears should be normalized and how we can guide young boys to adopt a healthy, mature expression of masculinity.Jeremy's brand, Long Distance Love Bombs, was inspired by a fascinating experience of kindness and empathy. Jeremy talks about that moment from years ago and how it ultimately led him to start his unique movement. Another area we focus on today is getting things done. Many of us come up with new ideas, goals, and other things we want to achieve, but we often struggle to start and get things running. Jermy talks about why it's hard for many of us to start something new, how we get the kickstart we need by starting small, and how to break a big process down to baby steps in order to prevent ourselves from losing interest. Resources:Connect with Dr. Jeremy:Website: longdistancelovebombs.com / dr-jeremygoldberg.comInstagram: @longdistancelovebombsMentioned in the episode:To Be a Man by Robert Masters: robertmasters.com/book/to-be-a-manFeeling Good: The New Mood Therapy by David D. How does the 1980s show The A-Team influence the way he coaches his clients? What sparked his current mission? What action can you take today to live a life that would make you jealous? My guest today is a repeat offender (guest) on the podcast. What I love most about this podcast is how much change I know is possible for anyone who listens to it. The conversation style of Jer and I becomes a crazy in depth banter where we take things to a deep level of understanding and embodiment, fast. It's just how we roll which is why I am so damn excited to announce the Ignite Your Life retreat we are running in August together in Byron Bay. Check it out here.  Okay, a little background on Jer, The man himself is a: TEDx speaker trying to make kindness cool. Watch the TEDx talk here. PhD scholar who spent the past five years studying the science of human behaviour, specifically how attitudes affect action and how we can communicate to inspire greater and lasting change. A spoken word poet who rants about love, life, and everything in between. Watch his most recent viral video here. Instagram and beautiful words @longdistancelovebombs A compassion-cultivating, day-making change agent, a kind heart, someone who believes in you. The major take aways you'll get from this episode encompass: why human beings find it so difficult to change and how to get leverage on yourself to ease that grind it's not about massive action (even though sometimes it is), it's about the little things (which we dive into everyday examples of small changes for massive results) what it really takes to turn your investment of time, energy, money and 'hopes' into actual action despite a lifetime of resistance and patterning how to call yourself out on your own bs the most effective to to make change stick what kind of damage self denial, rejection, shame and guilt about not being good enough can do and how to spot when this is playing out in your life even though it's terrifying to face at times lots of jokes, dirty ones, bad ones, sad ones, ones that no one but ourselves will laugh at.... Dr Jeremy Goldberg triggered tears to stream down my face in today's interview. This is somewhat uncommon for me and somehow the kindness seeping out of every cell of this human just GOT ME! The science of compassion is something Jeremy has professionally and personally studied for over a decade. From researching and working on saving the Great Barrier Reef and the world's oceans to leaving little bombs of handwritten love across the globe, the love bursting from this man is pretty freaking extraordinary. He has cultivated a strong base of over 35,000 people who are inspired by his writings on the daily and he has spoken his part about kindness on the stage of TEDx Townsville. A spoken word poet, mentor, speaker and soon to be published author,  Jeremy and I (in short) dive into: What we can ask ourselves if giving kindness to a stranger makes us feel uncomfortable. The ripple effect of compassion and how it can flow on for years to come. Starting right here, right now with your idea and letting it guide you. Noticing that at our core, we are good beings and it's just that we get in our own way. How to have big bold dreams and simultaneously let go of the outcomes. How the angst of a punk rocker was fuelled into a mission of spreading kindness. What to do with the "imposter" in our mind that says our dreams are just not good enough. The Get Shit Done restructure that needs to occur in our internal and external worlds to make lasting change. Jeremy's biggest insecurities and how following his inspiration helped transcend his self-limits.     I think our greatest lesson here is understanding that we are innately designed to love, be loved, give, receive and transform. That was my take away, and I would love to know yours - comment below and let us know! And I will leave you with this… Fuck This. We can do better. "We", as in, everyone. So, let's ask ourselves: What would the world be like if we were all just a little bit kinder? Dr Jeremy Goldberg   You can find Jeremy here: Website Instagram Facebook
