We're celebrating our 10th anniversary all year by digging in the vaults to re-present classic episodes with fresh commentary. Today, we're revisiting our 2021 conversation with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. ABOUT JIMMY JAM & TERRY LEWISWith 26 Billboard #1 R&B hits and 16 Billboard #1 pop hits to their credit, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are perhaps the most influential and successful songwriting and production duo in modern music history. With a total of 41 Top 10 hits in the US, Jimmy and Terry were named ASCAP Songwriters of the Year a record-breaking nine times. They are perhaps best known for their work with Janet Jackson, beginning with the Control album, which earned the duo a Grammy for Producer of the Year. Between 1986 and 1994 they scored thirteen #1 songs with Janet on either the R&B or pop chart, including “What Have You Done For Me Lately,” “Nasty,” “When I Think of You,” “Control,” “Let's Wait Awhile,” “Miss You Much,” “Rhythm Nation,” “Escapade” “Love Will Never Do (Without You),” “The Best Things in Life Are Free,” “That's the Way Love Goes,” “Any Time, Any Place,” and “Again,” which earned Jimmy, Terry, and Janet an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song. Jimmy and Terry got their start as musicians with Morris Day and the Time, the Prince-produced band whose biggest hit was the Jam and Lewis-penned “Jerk Out.” They made the transition to a successful songwriting and production team working with the S.O.S. band, which landed a #2 R&B hit with “Just Be Good to Me.” From there, they made their mark on pop and R&B hits for decades to come. In addition to their work with Jackson, the duo wrote and produced the #1 pop singles “Human” by Human League, “Romantic” by Karyn White, “Thank God I Found You” by Mariah Carey, and the Boyz II Men singles “On Bended Knee” and “4 Seasons of Loneliness.” Additional R&B chart toppers include “Encore” by Cheryl Lynn, “Fake” by Alexander O'Neal, “Everything I Miss at Home” by Cherelle, “Sensitivity” by Ralph Tresvant, and the Johnny Gill singles “Rub You the Right Way” and “Wrap My Body Tight.” Other highlights from their catalog include New Edition's “If It Isn't Love” and “I'm Still in Love With You,” “No More Drama” by Mary J. Blige, Robert Palmer's hit pop cover of their Cherelle single “I Didn't Mean to Turn You On,” and recordings by Gladys Knight & The Pips, Barry White, Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Usher, Spice Girls, Aretha Franklin, Charlie Wilson, Ledisi, Sting, Elton John, Beyonce, Rihanna, Rod Stewart, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Gwen Stefani, Willie Nelson, and many others.Always versatile, the duo has earned Grammy awards for Best R&B Album for Chaka Kahn's Funk This, Best Gospel Song for Yolanda Adams' “Be Blessed,” and Best Dance Recording for Janet Jackson's #1 pop and R&B hit “All For You.” Additional Jackson hits that were written and produced with Jam and Lewis include the Janet and Michael Jackson hit “Scream” and the #1 singles “Together Again,” “I Get Lonely,” “Doesn't Really Matter,” and the Nelly duet “Call On Me.”In total the team has earned over 100 gold, platinum, multi-platinum and diamond album certifications from the RIAA, have received more Producer of the Year Grammy nominations than anyone in history, earned the NAACP Lifetime Achievement Award, and were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

An avid equestrian, she trained horses across the country while working as an active duty U.S. Navy Nurse Corps nurse. She is committed to honest meat and changing the current meat processing system our nation relies on. But navigating the world of small business ownership, especially in a specialized industry like bison farming, comes with its challenges. We would love to hear from you! Text us any feedback. Watching your child walk across the college graduation stage is a moment filled with contradictory emotions – fierce pride alongside the bittersweet realization that a significant chapter is closing. After navigating four transformative years of college parenting, I'm pulling back the curtain on what this journey really feels like from a mother's perspective.Remember that gut-wrenching college drop-off day? I describe it as "excruciatingly beautiful" – perhaps the hardest yet most necessary parenting moment I've experienced. Walking away from your child when every instinct tells you to stay is an act of profound love and faith in their ability to thrive independently. Those first days of adjustment at home without them test every emotional muscle you have. The unexpected gifts of this separation surprised me at every turn. Madison transformed from a somewhat timid high schooler into a confident leader who now comfortably steps into roles that once intimidated her. Sibling dynamics evolved in beautiful ways, with relationships deepening rather than weakening. Sometimes, distance creates the perspective needed to truly appreciate what we have. Now, we're approaching an unexpected bonus chapter – Madison's coming home for a year before physician assistant school, giving our family of five one more season together. The dynamics have shifted; we're essentially five adults sharing space, with my role pivoting from daily manager to coach and mentor. We're adapting our rituals, planning early morning workouts and breakfasts instead of dinners to accommodate everyone's busy schedules. For parents walking this path now or soon, I share three practical approaches that preserved our connection: let your child lead the communication schedule without guilt or pressure, send spontaneous encouraging texts when they cross your mind, and learn to listen more than you advise, remembering that they're processing life through younger eyes. The greatest gift might be giving them space to stumble occasionally while keeping your heart wide open for whenever they need to land.Have a friend sending a child to college soon? This conversation left me speechless.Bryan Wood isn't just another guy with a “comeback story.” He's a man who spiraled from elite MMA fighter to opioid addiction, heroin use, and prison time, and somehow rebuilt a life that most would've thought was lost forever. In this episode, Bryan opens up about how one back injury became the first domino that led to a full-blown opioid addiction, prescription fraud, and eventually a prison sentence. We talked about how addiction hijacks your brain, the terrifying power of withdrawal, and what it really takes to rebuild your life after you've lost everything, including your marriage, your career, and your freedom. But this isn't just a story of destruction. It's a story of radical accountability, hard-earned healing, and hope.Bryan spent four years behind bars and used that time to reinvent who he was from the inside out. He journaled every day, wrote newspaper articles, created curriculum for inmates, and faced his darkest truths head-on.This is one of the most raw, redemptive, and human conversations I've ever had. If you're struggling, or know someone who is, please listen. Preaching for the Fifth Sunday of Lent, Dr. Nicole Symmonds offers a reflection on remembering and living our inherent dignity and value as God's beloved: "Today's lectionary readings show us what remembrance looks like and how to re-member ourselves as the body of Christ. In this re-remembrance, we bring ourselves, our own best things, to our work in faith for God's church and the world, bringing about justice and peace." Dr. Nicole Symmonds is the Assistant Professor of Christian Ethics at Columbia Theological Seminary. Her work sits at the intersection of Christian ethics and women, gender, and sexuality studies. She explores Black women's embodiment, particularly the practices of liberative embodiment they craft as a method of resistance to domination and as a simulation of freedom. PennLive's Bob Flounders examines the many reasons why the 2025 Penn State offensive line is poised to dominate defenses in the fall. Spring practices have begun, and the Nittany Lions return an offensive line group that is talented, experienced and deep. PSU's O-line was very good late in the 2024 season and it should be better this year. James Franklin and his offensive linemen have come a long way since Franklin's first season of 2014. In a world that constantly tells us our bodies need fixing, this sermon explores what it means to truly accept yourself as "your own best thing." Drawing from Toni Morrison's novel Beloved and the ritual of communion, Pastor Tonetta challenges the false division between mind and body that costs us connection, joy, and presence. Discover how reclaiming your body as holy space can be an act of resistance against systems that try to define your worth through appearance. Whether you're wrestling with body image, seeking a healthier relationship with yourself, or curious about how embodiment connects to justice, this conversation offers a refreshing perspective on what it means to be fully human in a society obsessed with perfection.
