In the latest episode of the podcast, Jeremy Goldberg joins Joe to discuss the psychology of behavior change. They use a concept developed by B.J. Fogg in his book, Tiny Habits, to explain the dynamics of sustainable habits and change. The Fogg Behavior model can be found here. “If we want to create a kinder world, we need to be kinder to ourselves. I think the way to do that is to understand ourselves on a deeper level, cultivate an awareness of what's going on inside of us, and recognize that everything that goes on internally is projected out into the world.” Key Highlights: How Jeremy first got started with his concept of a “lovebomb”, as well as how his mission has evolved over time Why the world needs to learn how to make kindness cool and compassion commonplace How we can use kindness to create an alternative world where support and community exist all around us How to have the best life and best relationships with the least amount of work possible How identifying what you don't want is a crucial first step towards creating a life that you do want Why personal growth requires consciously embracing the shit-sandwich every single day

We live in a world where people are so consumed by their traditional, busy lifestyles and don't prioritize showing kindness and empathy toward one another. Our guest today is someone who has made it their philosophy and mission to make kindness cool, empathy popular, and compassion commonplace. Dr. Jeremy Goldberg, behavioral scientist, author, speaker, and mentor, joins us today to talk about his mission for kindness, empathy, and compassion. Throughout today's episode, we dive deep into how the traditional definition of men leads to social issues, why we need to have more kindness, empathy, and compassion towards one another, and tips and tricks for getting things done and successfully achieving life goals.Jeremy starts the discussion by sharing his thoughts on what inspires and influences him the most at the moment. We also talk about the book he's writing, the inspiration behind it, and the main focus of the book. Getting into deeper topics, we talk about how most men don't prioritize self-love and taking care of themselves. We dive into the social and cultural factors that contribute to this behavior and how to avoid it. Another issue that affects many men is that the traditional definition of manhood does not leave men with much room to express their emotions and vulnerable moments. This can lead to certain emotional issues among men and, in some cases, violence. We dive into why men's tears should be normalized and how we can guide young boys to adopt a healthy, mature expression of masculinity.Jeremy's brand, Long Distance Love Bombs, was inspired by a fascinating experience of kindness and empathy. Jeremy talks about that moment from years ago and how it ultimately led him to start his unique movement. Another area we focus on today is getting things done. Many of us come up with new ideas, goals, and other things we want to achieve, but we often struggle to start and get things running. Jermy talks about why it's hard for many of us to start something new, how we get the kickstart we need by starting small, and how to break a big process down to baby steps in order to prevent ourselves from losing interest. Resources:Connect with Dr. Jeremy:Website: longdistancelovebombs.com / dr-jeremygoldberg.comInstagram: @longdistancelovebombsMentioned in the episode:To Be a Man by Robert Masters: robertmasters.com/book/to-be-a-manFeeling Good: The New Mood Therapy by David D. Mentor, writer, speaker, spoken-word poet, behavioral scientist--I could spend hours and hours touching on every single one of these titles for my guest, Dr. Jeremy Goldberg. He's run the gamut from studying how attitudes affect the actions we take to ranting about love, life, and everything in between online. For the last decade, he's striven to make kindness cool, empathy popular, and compassion commonplace. How has story influenced his life? What do stories and rabbit holes have in common? How does the 1980s show The A-Team influence the way he coaches his clients? What sparked his current mission? What action can you take today to live a life that would make you jealous? Dr. Jeremy and I discuss these issues and more in this wickedly fun and insightfully jam-packed interview you won't want to miss! What you will learn in this episode: How choice leads to narrative change What it means to cultivate...the pause Why kindness needs to be cool Who is Dr. Jeremy Goldberg? As a self-proclaimed recovering scientist turned life coach, Dr. Jeremy Goldberg is an expert in human behavior, spending five years studying the influence of our minds on our actions. He's worked for international governments and universities and managed millions of dollars and teams of people. In addition, he's trained himself through many scientific studies and self-help books. Along with his actual Ph.D., life gave him an honorary doctorate in the School of Hard Knocks where he hit rock bottom and climbed back through major changes in his way of thinking. Now, as the founder of Long Distance Love Bombs, Dr. Goldberg's mission lies in helping others do the same and make the world better than yesterday in the process. So he's coached clients; written articles, emails, and a book; hosted retreats, workshops, and a podcast; and created spoken-word poetry videos and social media accounts with over 60,000 people combined. What an absolute honour to close out this decade with another Power Couple Double Date episode with our dear friends Kendra and Jeremy. Both Jamie and I were present upon the inception of their love story last year and it was a true delight to sit down with them and hear the full unfolding of their story, the edges they have both had to meet in their union and how their unique pairing has allowed for deep healing and exploration of old material in new and more effective and integrated ways. We loved every bit of this playful, silly, deep and inspiring conversation and we know you'll absolutely adore it too! •In this episode •• The infamous Instagram DM slide that started it all.• The willingness to lean in and explore without being super duper attached to a specific outcome and how that shaped their relational unfolding.• An unconventional conversation about poop real early in that set the tone of honesty, transparency and connection right away.• Real examples of why you don't have to have it all together, be totally happy or completely healed to call in and keep great love worth having. • Honest stories of triggering moments and how they have worked with those triggers to create more intimacy and a unified collaborative union. • The balance between influencing your partner in a proactive way and allowing for their free will choice to be who they are. To stay up to date with these two love nuggets: Follow them on Instagram: Kendra Adachi: HEREDr. Jeremy Goldberg: HERETo get in on all their upcoming goodness: Kendra's Coaching Program: HERESparta Retreat: HERE

Dr. Jeremy Goldberg is on a mission to make the world better than it was yesterday. He's a writer, speaker, mentor, maker of rad swag and an expert in behavior change. He's driven by the question - what if kindness was cool? Um, yes please! He is also the founder of LONG DISTANCE LOVE BOMBS, one of my favorite places to browse inspiration with a serious dose of vulnerability and realness. In today's episode, we're talking about how we can show up BIGGER and create a better world, starting small and staying consistent in our intentions. Jeremy dives in to his own journey and the fact that vulnerability is not something that gets easier, yet it's something that offers freedom to inspire and empower others to love their mess. Listen, life is not all unicorns and rainbows. Sometimes, as Jeremy says, life f*cking SUCKS. And that is okay! It's not about how you got to your destination but the journey you face day-to-day. And regardless of where you stand in your life right now, there is always a choice point to shift your reality and inspire kindness. This is the very first episode of the Long Distance Love Bombs podcast, so why not just dive into one of the deepest, most uncomfortable topics possible? In this episode, Mark and I dive into sexual assault, male privilege, the #MeToo movement, masculinity, and a whole bunch of other good stuff. Many women have lovingly called us forward on social media, and this discussion is us answering that call. This is us stepping well outside our comfort zone in an effort to support, learn, grow, and contribute our voices. Our intention is to honor the brave folks speaking up. We are not experts in this topic. We don't have all the answers. But we're willing to risk saying the wrong thing here in order to learn what the right thing is. It’s a very confronting thing but it’s a very powerful thing. You are in control of how you respond and how you choose to do the things that you do in your life. That eliminates blame and excuses.”   Get the full shownotes on the Under30Experiences Blog.
