We are two people that love all things horror. Myself (Stephen) and Hunter, will be discussing the ins and outs of classic horror movies, their influences within the very real social world and their relevance in horror movies today. We'll be covering a long range of topics with some beloved horror movies and B-rated horror. There will be something for everybody, and later on we'll be having surprise guest appearances when we discuss bigger meanings behind certain movies. Our episodes will be monthly, and we hope you enjoy our deep thought in to all things horror. Review, rate us, and tell us what you'd like to hear us cover next.
Hello Everyone!!!Before we jump into the description of this, this is our final episode of Horror Brain Podcast. Thank you to all of those that listened to us, the new listeners that came in, and to all the lovers of horror out there. A million thank yous!!!!Taps on the walls, blood from your pores, and an undead best friend with a healthy helping of nuance. Yes, we're getting into the damn near-perfect Swedish film adaptation, Let The Right One In (2008). There's so much to unpack with this film and by the end, there will be many ways to look at this; such as, the quiet things that aren't said but the eyes portraying the meanings, the lack of music enhancing the overall film, the scars, the coldness of personalities being set in the 1980s during winter in Sweden. Believe us when we say it all fits together in telling an original vampire tale. Remember, keep on watching horror!
“Evil Dies Tonight!!” ~ Angry Mob of HaddonfieldNow, we can say Happy Halloween wholeheartedly!!! We hope you fiends are having fun, or are currently about to have fun. In this bonus episode we're giving you our blunt, and honest as always, opinions about the latest film in the Halloween catalogue, Halloween Kills (2021). We have some hot takes on this, along with some… some positive things to say about it. We were sure to balance it out… kind of ;)Enjoy, share, review, and follow. Most importantly, just have a good time tonight in whatever way you can. ~Hunter & StephenFB/IG:Horror Brain PodcastEmail: horrorbrainfilms@gmail.com
“We'll begin with a reign of terror, a few murders here and there, murders of great men, murders of little men - well, just to show we make no distinction. I might even wreck a train or two... just these fingers around a signalman's throat, that's all.”~ Dr. Jack Griffin (The Invisible Man)Happy Halloween you nasty fiends out there!!! We are diving right into our wonderful garments and bandages while wearing designer sunglasses to discuss the masterpiece that is Universal's baby, The Invisible Man (1933).While you relax from terrorizing the neighborhood you'll hear us discussing the genius of Universal Studios taking a chance on horror so early on, the practical effects that put The Invisible Man on the map that stand the test of time, the genius that is John P. Fulton (we nerd out a bit for him), and among many other things we bring the funnies mixed with knowledge. Be sure to check this film out, you won't be disappointed!!Thank you for all of your continued support, we truly appreciate it. If you have any requests be sure to let us know, we'd love to see what our audience has been into and we might even review it in a future episode!~ Stephen & HunterIG/FB: Horror Brain PodcastEmail: horrorbrainfilms@gmail.com
"Stay on the road." "Keep clear of the moors." "Beware the moon." Solid advice to abide by... but since when have traveling American college students ever listened to anyone? Also, cursed lycanthropes have to snack on someone, right? Well, if you haven't guessed it, this month we're taking a look at John Landis's classic 1981 horror/dark-comedy: An American Werewolf in London! This film is a huge favorite of ours; whether it's because of its incredibly remarkable practical effects, masterful editing, gruesome humor, or just because we both REALLY like werewolves -- Who knows???In this episode, we discuss who the REAL villain of the film might be, our reading of its dream sequences, the 'less is more' approach to horror, and why a lot of recent creature features miss their mark. As always, we veer into connecting this month's film to a lot of other horror movies and tropes as well. It's time -- the moon is rising. So, accept your cursed fate, give in to the urge, put in those earbuds, and give us a listen.
It's summer. It's hot. The family is gathered around the table for a nice barbecue dinner, but please don't try the meat or be a guest of the Sawyer family

Let's get ready for the summer!!!! We're in the middle of summer at horror brain podcast which usually brings jumps in a lake, campfire tales, summer love, and murder. That's right! We're discussing the the cult classic, Sleepaway Camp. The conversations we delve into touch light on LGBTQ+ representation in horror movies, the use of trans people in horror, and what we hope that the future of horror might hold for more diverse outlooks of original tales. Some of these conversation topics might be sensitive to some of our listeners but we see it as an opportunity to understand different view points of acceptance in cinema and the world at large. That being said let's curl up next to the fire, get our s'mores ready, and get lost in the woods with the unknown slasher of Sleepaway Camp (1983).Please enjoy! And, as always, be kind.Thank you for listening! Good morning/afternoon/evening, horror fans and denizens of the podcast-o-sphere!In this episode, we take a long drive across an eerie, isolated desert American landscape, where supernatural evil lurks on the outskirts of civilizations and dreams. Didn't your mother ever tell you not to pick up strangers? Especially if they look like Rutger Hauer. That's right! We're talking about one of Hunter's favorites: The Hitcher (1986). While some people may have passed by this movie or written it off as a typical 80's period piece... but there's a lot more going here! Subtly and Rutger's iconic performance are the key pieces that drive this surrealistic take on the worst-case hitchhiker scenario into being truly memorable. So, find an HD version and enjoy the cinematography, brutality, and infamous 80's one-liners. Join us, in contemplating the unclear motive of an unstoppable, blue-eyed nightmare dutchman. Please enjoy! And, as always, be kind.Thank you for listening! Good morning, afternoon, or evening to all of those out there in podcast land!!!For this episode we're diving into the sewers with this chimera of a movie that deals with giant mutated cockroaches. That's right! If you haven't guessed it we're post-mortem examining Mimic (1997). Guillermo Del Toro directed this gem, and he had more than a hard time getting this movie made in his original vision. Unfortunately, because of behind the scenes meddling from producers and assistants, he didn't get his exact vision. This was his first American movie, and thankfully it wasn't his last, even though he swore after filming that he'd never do another American movie again. We have some fun laughing at this one, but we also see past the poop on the walls what Del Toro was actually trying to make-- something special as per usual from such a talented director. Please enjoy!Be sure to be kind to one another.Thank you for listening! Subscribe, rate, and share!!!-Stephen & HunterWrite to us @:IG: Horror Brain PodcastGmail: horrorbrainfilms@gmail.com
You usually hear that the number seven brings luck or even angelic qualities, but for this episode we’re focusing all on the sin. That’s right! We’re diving in with the classic movie, Se7en. This was a perfect storm, in the most positive way ever, of a film of everyone doing their job behind the camera and in front to bring a downright gritty horrific philosophical detective noir story. Is it perfect? It’s damn close, and with very little for us to pick at. From the very start you feel the hopelessness of the film and by the end possible hope out of extreme tragedy. This movie will strike a chord with you, and it’ll leave you with your thoughts upon many discussions with friends who have also seen it. Please enjoy!Be sure to be kind to one another.Thank you for listening, subscribing, rating, and share!!!-Stephen & HunterWrite to us @:IG: Horror Brain PodcastGmail: horrorbrainfilms@gmail.com
Here comes that second episode of season 2, sneaking up right behind you where you didn't expect:On this episode of Horror Brain Podcast, we're talking about the 2011 film "You're Next!" It's an interesting take on slasher/home invasion horror with a small dosage of Home Alone, creepy animal masks, and a few other surprises. We discuss all of the grotesque brutality shown on screen, the controversial tone and how this movie just doesn't work for some, the "evolution" of the final girl trope, and more. This movie wears its love for horror and its goofiness on its sleeve -- and doesn't shy away from the usage of crossbows and blenders!Hunter also apologizes in advance to any Dwight Twilley fans out there. As always, stay safe, find some good, and keep an eye out for each other out there. Welcome to season 2 of Horror Brain Podcast! In this year's first episode:Well... well... well. What a year it’s been already, but don’t fret there is some light shimmering through and with this episode we hope that it helps anyone out there to feel laughter, a new way of thinking, or simply an escape from whatever may be troubling. With that being said, we’re jumping into the cult classic, It Follows (2014). This episode wouldn’t be fair if it were coming from two men, so we have our special guest, Casey Herbert. She’ll be joining in on the talk that tackles the differences between men and women of being intimate along with a deeper look of being raised of what’s proper for a man or woman to do to attract each other. It’s a big world out there with so many views on this subject, so feel free to write us your thoughts on the matter if you have a different way of looking at it or just simply want to send your thoughts. We do jump around a lot in this episode, and there are definitely spoilers, but we picked very important moments of the film to build very consciously well-rounded topics for you all. On a more serious note, if you or anyone you know are the victim/s of sexual abuse, or any abuse for that matter, here are some places in Japan and the U.S. where you can find help:JP: https://telljp.com https://sarc-tokyo.orgUS: http://www.asistahelp.orghttp://www.adwas.org/Everyone, stay safe, positive, and look out for one another out there. This time on Horror Brain Podcast: Here we go into the hedge maze of madness during these cold winter times of discussing the very well received, The Shining (1980). Our discussion might shock you as we attack this one of a kind film in pointing out its faults, positives, and straight up strange twists-n-turns. There's no arguing that Kubrick is a one of a kind director, but we do circle around the question of if he was a good fit to direct a horror movie or was he a good fit to direct what he believed as a 'Kubrick' horror movie? We have some strong takes, laughs, and a possible idea that might make this movie even better. You'll have to decide for yourself. Again, thank you for listening, subscribing, and rating!!!We both hope that this episode brings you out of the gloom of 2020, and takes you on a short journey with us with laughter along with thoughts. -Stephen & HunterWrite to us @:IG: Horror Brain PodcastGmail: horrorbrainfilms@gmail.com
This time on Horror Brain Podcast:“That’s not cranberry sauce, Arty...”-TerryHello! As everyone is getting ready for the Thanksgiving festivities we just wanted to do a movie that screams dysfunctional family drama and that movie is the ridiculous, Blood Rage. Yep, it’s one of the few thanksgiving horror films and it’s oh so silly with some solid practical effects. Thank you again for all of your support and stay safe!-Stephen & HunterWrite to us @:IG: Horror Brain PodcastGmail: horrorbrainfilms@gmail.com
This time on Horror Brain Podcast: Get your Michael Myers masks ready for our very first Halloween episode! This time we'll be covering three different entries in the Halloween franchise, the 1978 classic Halloween, the 1982 oddball Halloween III: Season of the Witch, and the recent 2018 Halloween.Another resident horror-head, @mrsinisterkris, is back in action on this episode and we couldn't be more excited.Be sure to rate/review and thank you for listening!!!Take care and stay amazing!-Stephen & HunterWrite to us @:IG: Horror Brain PodcastGmail: horrorbrainfilms@gmail.com
This time on Horror Brain Podcast: We're going to discuss the very underrated horror movie, Christine. That's right! Get in the possessed/possessive car with us and let's go for a drive. This movie showcased a wonderful friendship that's believable along with practical effects that still hold up. This time on Horror Brain Podcast: What happens when you trade someone else's wellbeing just to get yourself ahead in life? Well, in Sam Raimi's "Drag Me to Hell", the results are a three-day torment from an evil spirit called the 'Lamia' and a subsequent, titular, dragging to hell. Wronging an old woman that casts curses? We can't say we recommend that. BUT -- we do recommend this movie! So, hold onto your buttons and avoid all geriatrics with loose dentures and spittle-soaked handkerchiefs. "Drag Me to Hell" is 'splatstick' horror at its peak. Raimi shows off a mastery of horror and humor, all wrapped in a deluge of gross-out gags. While this movie is not nearly as lauded as The Evil Dead series, it definitely deserves a watch. Our apologies, there are two or three small audio disturbances (probably demon spirits) in this episode -- We promise to perform a seance before the next recording.Take care and stay amazing!-Stephen & HunterWrite to us @:IG: Horror Brain Podcast Gmail: horrorbrainfilms@gmail.com
We're taking a trip to Santa Carla, California, with our first special guest, Kris Fiore, the musical Italian rock maestro that's hailing all the way from Berlin, Germany! While the three of us are there in the murder capital of the world, as the movie states behind a billboard, in the hot sun in our leather jackets and sunglasses we're going to be discussing the cult classic that is The Lost Boys. We take the time to really jump in this movie and discuss some of the themes we found interesting; displacement, belonging, youth, homosexuality, Peter Pan theme and vampire fun. With the big question... were David and his gang the bad guys or not? This was a fun one and thank you for listening! Rate, Review, and wear some sunglasses when you listen to this episode. That's right!!! We've finally gotten into it!! Here we'll be discussing our vast, and lovely, appreciation of the sci-fi horror classic, Alien. What can we say about this movie? You'll have to listen! Hahahaha! This movie is beautifully crafted with characters that feel very real that are put in a situation that's beyond their understanding. You feel the tension, the fear from the wonderful production design/directing. Give us your ears as we take you on a deep journey into space as we discuss the greatness that is Alien. We are also dedicating this episode to all the actors that have died post this movie; Bolaji Badejo, John Hurt, Harry Dean Stanton, and Ian Holm.Questions, comments? Hey, look! It's an amorphous double feature! We'd like to say that we're sorry we didn't get this episode out sooner as we promised quite a few months ago. We ran into some technical difficulties, unfortunately. It was so difficult, in fact, that we had to re-record the entire episode recently. We hope you enjoy our lovely talk about the reddish/pinkish ball of goo that is, The Blob, along with our commentary in our fun (non classically trained) Bane voices we through in for some of the characters of the remake.... you'll hear it. The saga continues!Stephen and I continue our debate knee-deep in the muck about what we think are the most influential horror movies of the 90s.Warning: Some shade was thrown (mostly by me), and I mention the love of a certain part of a director's anatomy several times. As always, Stephen brings in a lot of thoughtful, poignant rebuttals-- and I look forward to destroying him in our next battle. It was a blast, and I hope you enjoy it.**Tell us what your pics are for the most influential horror movie of the 90s would be!!!Let us know at horrorbrainfilms@gmail.com or over on our Facebook/Instagram page: Horror Brain PodcastKeep on loving all things horror!-Stephen & Hunter

Hello everybody!!!!For this episode we're talking about the gem that was way ahead of its time, and pointed out so many injustices against black people and inner city development, Candyman. This movie for myself, Stephen, touched me on so many levels that were personal through my life as a black kid to now a full grown adult. Hunter and I have a discussion about this movie, personal stories/thoughts, and dive in deep into what was possibly left on the cutting room floor of this film. Enjoy! Follow! Listen! Download! Review! We're honored to have those that are following us, and enjoying our discussions. If you have any requests please email us at horrorbrainfilms@gmail.com"Sweets to the sweet."~Candyman
With this episode, Hunter and I are all in with this Lovecraftian movie, Color Out of Space. We talk about how this was practically a straight forward interpretation from Lovecraft's novel of the same name, practical effects on a budget, and the major influences throughout horror that has Lovecraft's fingerprint. Also, Nic Cage quotes a plenty. We know a lot of people are stuck inside, and doing their best to not go insane. Hopefully this nugget will help you get your mind off of the negativity while getting your brain active to think about the underdog, enjoying some laughter, and traveling into the weirdness with us.
Hello! For this bonus episode we're discussing the two trailers that caught our attention last month; A Quiet Place 2 and The Invisible Man (2020). We've got high hopes for these movies, and worries, but overall we're hoping that these movies bring on the scares.
This month we are talking about the underwhelming slasher, Cry_Wolf, but more importantly how it sheds light on the horrors that are going on today with online information/the spreading of panic. With our social online structure information is out there for everyone to see, and to interpret however they please. Not only does horror happen in everyday life, but even when we're on the computer. We hope you enjoy this episode!Subscribe and rate us!If you have any questions, or requests, please email us at horrorbrainfilms@gmail.com
