This week on the Oakley Podcast, Jeremy Kellett sits down with long-time shop foreman Toby Bishop to unpack how Oakley's shop operations are evolving to better serve owner-operators. They cover the design and opening of the new West Shop, the full remodel of the East Shop, and planned upgrades to the wash bay, including floor and lighting improvements. Toby explains Oakley's work-release and reentry programs with the state of Arkansas, highlighting how they give incarcerated individuals a real second chance and help them become strong employees. A major focus is the upcoming fleet-wide tire and wheel change from 11R24.5 to 22.5, why manufacturers are phasing out 24.5s, and how Oakley will manage costs, casings, and logistics during the transition. They also discuss trailer specs with MAC, strategies for keeping trailers looking sharp, and the underused capabilities of the Reserve LA terminal. The key takeaway for drivers: Oakley is investing heavily in facilities, equipment, and people to improve efficiency, safety, appearance, and long-term cost savings, and driver communication is critical to making these changes work. Key topics in today's conversation include: Truck Show Announcement and Sponsor Shoutouts (0:12) Introducing Toby Bishop and Purpose of Shop Conversation (4:34) New West Shop Overview and Design Goals (7:47) Ventilation Challenges, Storage Additions, and Morale Boost (10:31) How the Old East Shop Was Emptied and Fully Remodeled (13:34) Repurposed Brick Sign From Original Office Building (21:32) How Oakley's Work Release Program With Arkansas Works (25:51) Wash Bay Layout and Purpose of the Third Express Bay (31:20) Why Drivers Can't Just Wash Anything and City Sampling Rules (32:39) Illumiclear Clear Coat Failing on Tanks and Removal Plan (39:41) Why Oakley Is Changing From 11R24.5 to 22.5 Tires (41:23) Dollars per Tire, Wheel, and Mount Adding Up Across Fleet (48:42) Ground Clearance Loss Going to 22.5 and Low Pro Risks (52:17) Tank Trailer Spec Changes to Reduce Valves and Components (56:12) Reserve Terminal Capabilities in Shop and Wash Bays (1:00:37) Idea of a Ready Yard for Trailers and Dispatch Benefits (1:02:17) Growing Pains, Space Limits, and Future Shop Expansion (1:03:57) Parting Thoughts and Episode Wrap-Up (1:06:27) Oakley Trucking is a family-owned and operated trucking company headquartered in North Little Rock, Arkansas. The Nerdpocalypse opens with a tribute to Peter Cullen, the legendary voice actor behind Optimus Prime, who passed away at 85. We discuss his massive legacy across generations of Transformers fans. Then some serious news: a lawsuit alleges Elon Musk's xAI used child sexual abuse material to train its Grok models, a disturbing allegation we break down along with its implications. On the lighter side: Ryan Gosling has publicly thrown his name in the ring for Warner Bros.' live-action Flintstones reboot centered on Bamm-Bamm, we discuss whether that idea makes any sense. Dave Bautista's casting as Kratos in Amazon's God of War series is now official. Miami Vice '85 rounds out its cast with Danny Ramirez, Michael B. Jordan, and Austin Butler. Amazon's RoboCop series casts its Alex Murphy. Ridley Scott is reportedly returning to the Alien franchise to complete the David trilogy. "Hooters: the movie" is apparently happening, because someone thought that was necessary. Plus trailers for Get Jiro and The Social Reckoning. The Nerdpocalypse is a weekly podcast covering the latest movie news, TV show news, trailer reactions, and pop culture commentary. This week is a special one, for effective September 1st, NBP will be celebrating its 10th anniversary, and how fitting such a milestone episode falls right before our team heads off to Venice, Telluride, TIFF, and NYFF to deliver the best coverage we can for this upcoming awards season. This week, we're discussing the films premiering at the Venice International Film Festival and what we're specifically looking forward to from that festival. For this week's NBP poll question, as the fall film festivals kick off, we're asking everyone for the second time this year, "Which Film Do You Think Will Be The Next Best Picture Oscar Winner?" And we reveal the winner of last week's NBP poll, for the release of "Coyote vs. Acme," where we asked everyone, "Which Is Your Favorite Film That Combines Live Action And 2D Animation?" We also share our reactions to the trailers for "Fjord," "Possible Love," "The Social Reckoning," "A Talent For Murder" & "Unabomber." We are still answering your fan-submitted questions, but our answers will now be released separately the day after, in a new show called Mailbag Monday (and that is where we will announce the winners of the 2008 NBP Film Community Awards)! We hate to start the show with sad news. But the older we get, the more it seems to happen. Two icons from our childhood suddenly passed away and we talk about their accomplishments and the legacy they left behind. Despite not actually reviewing it for our show, we have talked a lot about Obsession. The little horror film has caught the public imagination like no other movie this year. We talk about the success of Obsession and what it means to indie horror in general. We do not shy away from movies that make us uncomfortable. On the contrary, we often go looking for them. We did not expect Penny Lane is Dead to be one of those films. We figured it would be a fun homage to 1980s Ozploitation. And in a lot of ways it was. But then there are the moments that harken to a darker side of the sub-genre. The movie is disgusting, bloody, tense, and an all around difficult watch. And through it all it manages to sneak in some genuine humor. It was a confusing watch to say the least. We had no hesitation when it came to the ending, however. One of horror's most dependable constants are Stephen King adaptations. The latest one takes a book that mixes one of the author's greatest strengths. King is great at mixing grounded scares with supernatural horror. Which is why the team announced to work on Desperation is interesting. Plus, another clever marketing stunt from Neon. We have not discussed the Paramount-WB merger. And for good reason. We do not know enough about it and we kinda don't give a shit. But there is some interesting news to come out of it. Apparently with the rights for A Nightmare on Elm Street all over the place, both studios are scrambling to get a new movie out first. How sweet, fresh meat. Buffet Infinity gets off to one of the strongest starts we have seen for any movie possibly ever. It is clever, funny, creepy, and mysterious. The indie horror is a mix of found footage and sketch comedy that manages to be familiar and unique at the same time. Through the first act, it seemed like we had found something really special. The film then proceeded to take one of the greatest nose dives we have ever seen. It becomes completely derailed and goes from being about two warring restaurants to just a bunch of unexplained nonsense. Nothing makes sense and it is clear that an ending was never penned for this mess. Adventures in Movies! is a part of the Morbidly Beautiful Podcast Network. Welcome to Multiverse News, your source for information about all your favorite fictional universes. At D23 last week, Disney's fan event showcasing much of their upcoming film and tv projects, we were at last treated to a full trailer for VisionQuest, which will debut October 14 on Disney+. The third and final installment of the trilogy that includes WandaVision and Agatha All Along, VisionQuest looks like it will send us on a trippy ride with The Vision, played by Paul Bettany. Those of us angsting for Avengers: Doomsday story crumbs were also treated with a special look presented for the December blockbuster. The shorter trailer, which was first shown at San Diego Comic Con, starts with dialogue from Sue Storm, indicating our MCU Fantastic Four team is connected to Robert Downey, Jr.'s Victor von Doom. One of the most anticipated announcements in MCU history took place at D23, when Marvel Studios exec Kevin Feige announced the cast of the upcoming X-Men film. The cast includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, and Maya Boyd as Storm. Adam Driver will be playing the villainous Mr. Sinister. The movie will be released on May 5, 2028 nearly 10 years after the Disney acquisition of Fox Studios and will kick off the three MCU movies coming out in 2028. The other big nerd-dom announcement at D23 was the release of a first trailer for Ahsoka season 2, which will premiere on January 20, 2027, on Disney+. Lars Mikkelson's Thrawn returns as the big bad for the Rebel Alliance, while in a galaxy truly far, far, away, Ahsoka and Sabine battle themselves and mystic threats while coming face to face with what it means to be a Jedi. This look at the show may clue us in as to why the debut date got pushed to next year. Shawn Levy and Ryan Gosling were also at D23 where a clip from Star Wars: Starfighter was shown, but has not yet been released publicly.Peacock has released the first trailer for season 2 of The Office spin off The Paper. The full season drops on September 9. At D23, Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed to Deadline that Johnny Depp is in early talks to reprise his role as Jack Sparrow in an upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean reboot. Sources also emphasize that Depp will serve as a side character, not a central character in the upcoming film. Spider-Man: Brand New Day has passed the $2 billion dollar mark after just 3 weeks in theaters, becoming the eighth film in history to hit the benchmark. The film is the second fastest to hit this mark only behind Avengers: Endgame. At D23, Disney offered up the first look at the live action adaptation of Tangled, which stars Teagan Croft, Milo Manheim, and Kathryn Hahn. The studio also announced a release date of March 31, 2028. Hayden Panettiere, known for her roles on shows such as Heroes and Nashville has died at the age of 36. At D23, Pixar showed off some very early concept art for Incredibles 3 and Coco 2. Incredibles 3 will debut on June 16, 2028 and Coco 2 is currently set for a November 2029 release. HBO has announced a season 2 renewal for It: Welcome to Derry, the It prequel series from Warner Bros. Television and executive producers Andy and Barbara Muschietti. At D23, Disney showed some early images of the live action Lilo & Stitch 2, which currently has a release date of May 28, 2028.

For Episode 505 of the Next Best Picture Podcast, I am joined by Lauren LaMagna, Dan Bayer, Larry Fried & Tom O'Brien. This week, we're discussing the Spotlight section of the 64th New York Film Festival (NYFF), the final additions to the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) lineup, and the overall schedule. For this week's NBP poll question, we're asking everyone, Which World Premieres Are You Most Looking Forward To From The 2026 Toronto International Film Festival? And we reveal the winner of last week's NBP poll, where we asked everyone, "Which Films Are You Most Looking Forward To From The NYFF64 Main Slate?" We also share our reactions to the trailers for "Paper Tiger," "Verity," "Gentle Monster," and "Josephine." We are still answering your fan-submitted questions, but our answers will now be released separately the day after, in a new show called Mailbag Monday! So stay tuned for that and many other updates from Next Best Picture as this year's awards season continues. Thank you all for listening, subscribing, and supporting us. Episode 316. 3:16. WHAT!?
The Nerdpocalypse breaks down the 78th Primetime Emmy nominations! HBO Max's Hacks set a new record with 24 nominations for a comedy series in its final season, edging out last year's record held by The Bear and The Studio. Apple TV had a massive showing with Widow's Bay (19 noms), Pluribus (18 noms), and Margo's Got Money Troubles, while The Pitt led all nominees overall with 25. We break down the biggest snubs, surprises, and who's actually favored to win when the ceremony airs September 14th on NBC.Then: is the next James Bond already cast? Producer and author Richard Osman dropped a bombshell on his podcast claiming Slow Horses star Jack Lowden is "strongly considered" for 007 — and the connections check out, including a shared casting director and his wife Saoirse Ronan publicly campaigning for the role. We break down Lowden's case, and why this rumor feels more credible than most.Plus our reviews of everything we checked out this week: The Guest, Cape Fear series on Apple, Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness, The Mandalorian and Grogu, X-Men '97 Season 2, and Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2!The Nerdpocalypse is a weekly podcast covering the latest movie news, TV show news, trailer reactions, and pop culture commentary. We break down Marvel MCU updates, DC Universe news, Star Wars, superhero movies, sci-fi, horror, streaming wars, box office results, casting announcements, and everything happening in Hollywood and the entertainment industry. Hosted by Jay, Micah, and Terrence. A TNP Studios production since 2011. New episodes weekly on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and all major platforms. Following last's week review, Ice Cream Man became a huge talking point on the internet. At the time of recording, the use of AI had not been revealed. And though we thought the movie should be avoided in theaters, we also thought it was worth streaming. Our opinions have not changed, but we do follow it to discuss Eli Roth's latest release. This leads into a discussion about Touch Grass. The upcoming movie is an AI-generated horror movie. Unsurprisingly, this has upset a good amount of people But how does it tie into the next V/H/S release? Plus another remake of a 1980s “classic”. The Hunger from 1983 is one of the most unique movies we have ever covered on our humble little podcast. On the surface, there does not seem to be anything outstanding about it. It is a tale about a vampire grappling with immortality and lost loves. Watching the movie is a whole other matter. There is not much to the story-at least anything that is there will require a lot of guesswork and filling in the gaps by the viewer. But it looks incredible. The Hunger clearly influenced the music videos and erotic thrillers that would come to dominate the 80s. We discuss its legacy and why it is not talked about more.. It is surprising how little people talk about Robocop. When it first came out it was amazing. The character was awesome, the movie was great, and the action was second to none. As is usually the case, the sequels worsened and the recent remake was not so great. Still, it is surprising to see how the property has all but disappeared. The days of telling a singular story in one movie seem to be gone. Weapons was one of our favorite movies from last year. That being said, we really were not clamoring for more. Unsurprisingly, we are lukewarm on news of the upcoming Gladys prequel. There is still a very good chance that it will be just as great as the source material, but we aren't stoked for it. Ice Cream Man is the latest release from Eli Roth. It is wacky, over the top, and very very bloody. It is the most Eli Rothiest movie ever. It is something of a passion project where Roth did every crazy thing he has ever wanted to do. The end result is a very silly and entertaining watch. We also try to figure out what Roth's place in horror is. He definitely is not up there with the greats like Carpenter and Romero, but he has also left behind an impressive body of work. Is it enough to consider him an icon or is he just a name people know? Adventures in Movies! is a part of the Morbidly Beautiful Podcast Network.
