Quentin Tarantino has been releasing movies since we were teenagers, so he holds a special place for us. This is especially true of the Kill Bill movies since we were a little older, plus they became a part of mainstream culture. Watching The Whole Bloody Affair is a tall order, however. The news about Scary Movie 6 has us much more excited. After watching the trailer for Ash, it is hard not to wonder if they used all the good shots for it. After seeing the actual movie, you realized that they could have picked any part of the film and it would have looked great. It also features some top notch performances and an engaging mystery. So why do so many people hate it? It probably has to do with the climax, which ruins all the good will Ash had built up. The over the top nature is subjective and some people will enjoy it. But its decision to completely rip off Alien is hard to ignore.Good Boy does not hide the fact that it is a gimmick. It is a haunted house story in which its main character is a dog. But not only is Indy the main character, he is pretty much the only one. The story and camera are completely different focused on him.Does it move past this and become something that audiences can become attached to? Well, if you have ever had a pet, you will love Good Boy. And if you have not had one, it will make you want to get one. Oh yeah. It is also scary, has great storytelling, and features one of the most emotionally impactful movies we have seen all year. Adventures in Movies! is a part of the Morbidly Beautiful Podcast Network. We do not talk about Jeremy Irons enough on this show. He is an actor's actor who we do not see in genre often. His involvement in the remake of a 1980s cult classic changes that and has us excited. We also revisit our conversation about how comedians have positively affected horror. Plus, bad pedophiles vs good ones.We like when PR companies go the extra mile and the marketing for Bone Lake has been inspired. From suggestively placing the R rating to some cool posters, the film's promotion has been eye-catching. The over the top opening adds to this with lots of nudity and a gruesome kill. When it turns things down, it is to an almost shocking degree that may cause people to turn out. Which is a shame, since Bone Lake becomes an excellent psychological thriller that does an excellent job of toying with audience expectations. It also boasts one of the strongest performances of the year.Since returning in 2021, the V/H/S series has put out some great releases. They have taken things to he past along with trying out new things like sci-fi horror. This year the franchise tackles something that John Carpenter was never able to do. V/H/S Halloween sees the found footage anthology turn its eye towards a particular holiday in October. There have been some fun segments, but this is the most fun V/H/S has been as an overall product in years. It perfectly captures the Halloween spirit and presents stories that range from scary to funny. And all of them are gross. This is one of the movies that will become a regular tradition. But there is a major caveat. V/H/S Halloween also has the darkest segment in the history of the franchise. It will be a polarizing watch that many people may skip. Others will think it is great extreme horror. One thing is for sure; the segment is one of the best seen in the V/H/S series, but it feels out of place in this year's edition. Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesIt appears as though Marvel Studios much speculated film that was slated to release between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars in July 2027, won't be happening after all; or at least not that July, as Disney has replaced the untitled project with a sequel to The Simpsons Movie dated for July 23, 2027. The move comes as a surprise to many Marvel fans who anticipated a possible Doctor Strange or Shang-Chi sequel to take place between the Avengers tentpoles but is in keeping with what Bob Iger and Kevin Feige have promised about a slowdown in production. Elsewhere, with Marvel Zombies premiering on Disney Plus last week, Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum teased a possible season 2, but emphasized that would be contingent on viewership and new Disney Plus subscriptions. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Olsen took the opportunity to share that although she recorded lines for the series, she doesn't remember anything about the show or plot. It was a huge week for trailers from a bevy of our favorite franchises, so lets run them down with another good old fashioned Trailer Park:Insomniac and Sony released the first gameplay trailer for Marvel's Wolverine on the PS5, which will release in fall of 2026.Lucasfilm unveiled a new trailer for Star Wars; Visions Volume 3 which also announced the cast that includes Anna Sawai, Freddie Highmore, George Takei, Harvey Guillén, Jodie Turner-Smith, Judith Light, Simu Liu, Stephanie Hsu, and Steve Buscemi. The final trailer for Jon M. Chu's Wicked: For Good released last Wednesday morning to much acclaim. And finally, a new trailer for 20th Century's Avatar: Fire and Ash teased more of the villainous faction and stakes.Director Denis Villeneuve shed new light on his upcoming version of 007 for Amazon/MGM; sharing that the casting process will begin next year after he's completed production on Dune: Part Three for Warner Bros and that he is looking to cast a “relatively unknown” “fresh face” actor in their 20s or 30s. Additional criteria the filmmaker included is that the performer must hail from the British Isles and be male, as well as his desire to capture what Fleming called “a blunt instrument” — the lethal but “extremely dull, uninteresting man to whom things happened.” If Villeneuve and team stay true to these parameters, it potentially rules out many fan-casted favorites and seems to be in more alignment with the Broccoli family's traditions with the character than expected with new creatives in control.Mark Ronson is slated to reunite with Greta Gerwig to score her Chronicles of Narnia adaptation at Netflix. Ronson previously served as executive music producer for Gerwig's Barbie.Amazon MGM Studios‘ adaptation of Rebecca Yarros' bestselling novel Fourth Wing is closing in on a new showrunner. Wednesday Season 2 executive producer Meredith Averill is in final negotiations to board the project as writer and executive producer.Sony revealed that Spider-Man: Beyond the SpiderVerse will arrive a week earlier than expected, and land on June 18, 2027. Notably, that new date will cover the Juneteenth holiday as well as Father's Day. It previously was dated for June 25, 2027.Comedian Bill Burr is in talks to join the cast of Aaron Sorkin and Sony Pictures' sequel to The Social Network, after Jeremy Strong, Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White were officially cast. The film also has been retitled The Social Reckoning and will officially hit theaters on Oct. 9, 2026.A newly created AI “actress” named Tilly Norwood, designed by the studio Xicoia under Particle6, has reportedly drawn interest from Hollywood talent agencies. The announcement sparked major backlash from real actors, with critiques about replacing human talent, the ethics of compositing real faces, and calls to boycott agencies that represent AI personas.

Send us a textWhat happens when you strip commerce down to its essence? In this thought-provoking conversation between industry veterans, we explore the fundamental truth that all business boils down to two people exchanging value—and everything else is just overhead.Steve Clegg opens with a powerful framework: the economy only functions through human exchange, yet we've built towering hierarchies of "rent-seekers" atop these simple transactions. Through cryptocurrency and AI, he envisions a future where these layers disappear, returning power to buyers and sellers. His work with Zentoro has achieved remarkable 98% accuracy in predicting customer retention through transaction patterns, revealing that frequency matters far more than transaction value.Venky Lakshminarayanan brings his expertise in value management, describing it as "orchestrating business functions to maximize customer value." He challenges listeners to question whether they truly understand what problems they're solving for customers. His insights on how value differs between enterprises (revenue, profits) and individuals (recognition, quality of life) provide a framework for aligning business objectives with human needs.Nick Mavrick from Built Data completes the picture by exposing how poorly most organizations support their field personnel with actionable market intelligence. He describes a world where salespeople lack basic knowledge about customer prioritization and market coverage, resulting in missed opportunities and frustration on both sides of the transaction.Among the most practical revelations is the "50-50 rule"—research showing that conversations where both parties speak equally are dramatically more likely to result in action. This golden ratio applies whether you're a doctor with patients, a manager with employees, or a salesperson with customers. The discussion also touches on the legacy burden of enterprise systems like CRMs, which have become expensive obstacles rather than value creators. As AI enables more agile alternatives at a fraction of the cost, businesses face a critical decision point: continue with systems that deliver poor ROI, or embrace transformation?Whether you're reconsidering your business model, evaluating technology investments, or simply trying to better understand customer behavior, this conversation offers clarity on what truly drives successful commerce in today's complex environment. We start with a look at this weekend's box office. We start with the power of anime, before moving on to the Warrens. But the main topic is Stephen King. The renowned author is no stranger to box office flops. So why is everyone blaming the performance of The Long Walk recent comments he made. It is not like he has every been quiet about his political views? Also, who is responsible for more Insidious sequels? We have some some crazy things on our humble little podcast. There have been plenty of films that have given zero fucks about who they offend and what lines they cross. But we have never seen anything like 2006's Werewolf in a Women's Prison. For those thinking the title is a metaphor for a much deeper story, you will be disappointed. This is very much a case of what you see is what you get.And what you see is a lot of naked women. How much? For the first time, it was enough for one of us to say it was too much. Not on any moral grounds; it was just more bare breasts than a person wants to see in one movie. Between all the bare flesh, there are some awesome kills, questionable music choices, a werewolf that is simultaneously cool and awful looking, and Patton Oswalt's wife.It has been a rough year for Blumhouse. It once seemed like they could release anything and people would go see it. This year has been one box office failure after another, including this week's feature presentation, Drop. The premise is a neat one. A woman on a blind date starts receiving mysterious air drops that command her to do horrible things or in son will die. The execution, not so much.It is a message movie that makes its message unimportant, a character study that leaves you not caring about its main character, and a thriller that is not so thrilling. There are some odd directorial choices, with some that are really good. But the ones that do not land make the movie look cheap. And the ending brings closure, but is not satisfying. This episode of The Other Side of the Bell, featuring our own podcast host and trumpeter John Snell, is brought to you by Bob Reeves Brass. This episode also appears as a video episode on our YouTube channel, you can find it here: "Getting to know John Snell" Who is the man behind the microphone? You've been asking for a long time, 12.5 years and 138 episodes in fact, and today's the day: it's time to put John Snell himself on the other side of the bell! John is the steadfast presence at Bob Reeves Brass, from the shop to the studio to the numerous conferences and events he attends every year. Many of you have met him in person over the years, and with our increasing number of video episodes, you have a better sense for what he's like. Yet his story has only emerged in bits and pieces over all that time and all those episodes, and warrants the spotlight just as much as any of the wonderful guests who have stopped by the podcast since 2013. And who better to interview John than the gregariously awesome Vinnie Ciesielski, who was himself a guest on The Other Side of the Bell, Episode #93 back in September of 2021. Vinnie and John chat about how John grew up to follow in the footsteps of his professional trumpet-playing father, Keith Snell, yet forged his own path through his education, musical styles and interests, before a sudden complete career U-turn that proved to give him another solid professional foundation, alongside his continued passion for music. And behind it all, for the past 20+ years, there's been Bob Reeves Brass. John talks about first meeting Bob and being taken under his wing, before returning with a law degree in hand to rescue the business, provide stability for Bob and his wife into retirement, and maintaining Bob's principled approach to business and customer service. Thank you to Vinnie for encouraging the idea and bringing this episode to life, and thank you to all of our wonderful listeners and viewers for your continued support. Don't forget to share this and other episodes with your friends in the trumpet world and beyond, and send us your thoughts and feedback!
