Anna and I had the best time talking to Alison Pollard for today's episode. Alison is our Mission and Outreach Director. To start our time together, Alison shares about her family and how they got involved here at Crosspoint. Alison shares her heart for how we serve our families here at Crosspoint and the community. Alison filters all the areas we serve by asking, " Is this meeting an unmet need or people?" Her heart is to join other churches in what they do while serving in other areas with unmet needs. She would like to encourage us that saying yes can lead to purpose. Alison talks about the importance of Colossians 1:23, where we are told to stand firm, so we don't drift away. She shares how easy it is to drift if we are not actively pursuing Jesus. If you would like more information on the many ways you can serve, you can contact her at Alison@crosspointchurch.tv Music by Drew McWilliams Logo by Abby Perozo crosspointchurch.tv
We are excited to have Chris Sevier, yes, he is the husband to Christy (from Fostering Hope) and dad to their three kids. He also humbly leads our Hearts for the Homeless ministry that serves Houston's homeless on the third Sunday of each month. We had a great conversation with Chris, where he shared his heart for the homeless and how God directed his steps to get involved. Chris shares that the heart of this ministry is Matthew 25:40-45 where Jesus tells us, "if you have done this to one of least of them, you have done it to me." One of its pillars for Chris is to serve them with excellence, and everything they do is passed through the question: "Would you do that to Jesus?" Chris has seen his obedience to God lead to God's faithfulness to provide all they need. He also shares how we can invite our kids to serve and how we can come alongside them. If you feel God urging you to step out into something, he suggests you start small and slowly and see how God moves. If you would like more information on how to join, you can go to Crosspointchurch.tv , the Facebook page Love Your Neighbor, or our Serve App. Music by Drew McWilliams Logo by Abby Perozo crosspointchurch.tv
We have our Discipleship Pastor, Bryan Shippey, joining us today. He and his family moved back to Pearland after serving five years planting a church in the Boston area. Bryan shares how saying his first "yes" to God has impacted his life and how he has seen God move. He challenges us to say "yes" and see how God will move in our story. Bryan shares how his focus has narrowed to discipleship, how we can help our kids become disciples, and how to navigate walking alongside someone in their discipleship. Some of his favorite Scriptures about discipleship are: Luke 14:28 says we should look at the cost. Colossians 1:27 reminds us that Christ lives in us. John 15 talks about staying connected to the vine. If you would like any more information on the many ways we can help you in your discipleship, go to Crosspointchurch.tv Music by Drew McWilliams Logo by Abby Perozo crosspointchurch.tv
We are excited to have Christy Sevier and Mona Cabler on today to talk about Fostering Hope. They share their hearts, how it got started and how we can join them in serving the kids in the Foster system. Christy and Mona lead a team to love on and serve the CWOP kids here in Pearland. Officially CWOP stands for "Child Without Placement," but they like to say "Christ Will Offer Provision." They want every child to know that Jesus sees them and loves them. Christy and Mona want us to remember God's heart for the orphans, and there are many ways to use our gifts, what we like to do or are talented in, to serve them. Some ways we can come alongside Fostering Hope are: becoming certified as a Foster Parent, Respite Care or babysitter; providing meals and doing laundry for the CWOP kids; Hearts of Hope, The Foster Care Closet, and many more. Every month there is a support group for foster families: When: 1st Thursday of every month Where: Foster Care Closet Time: 6-9 pm You do not have to do this alone! Just come!
