How To Break Out Of The Prison Of Fear | Easter 2025 | Generations Church GP Are you feeling trapped? Paralyzed by fear? On Easter Sunday 2025, we explore one of the most overlooked moments in the resurrection story — when the disciples were still locked behind closed doors... afraid. In this powerful Easter message from Generations Church in Grande Prairie, Pastor Travis Hansen unpacks John 20:1–23, revealing how even after Jesus rose from the dead, His closest followers were stuck in fear — not because He wasn't alive, but because they hadn't yet embraced what His resurrection meant for the. ➡️ Are you still locked in the room of fear? ➡️ Has fear been holding you back from the life Jesus is calling you into? ➡️ Do you know that Jesus walks into locked spaces... just to bring you peace? This message will speak directly to your heart if you're battling: Anxiety or panic about your future Fear of failure, rejection, or disappointment Spiritual paralysis or indecision A sense of unworthiness or spiritual disconnection Jesus didn't just conquer the grave — He walks into rooms filled with fear and breathes peace, purpose, and power. In our third week of the Unshakeable series, we dive into the story of Jericho—one of the most well-defended cities in the Promised Land. On the surface, Jericho seemed unshakable, while the Israelites appeared shaky at best. But God had a plan that defied human logic, proving that true strength doesn't come from walls, wealth, or worldly security, but from faith in Him. This message explores how the first battle is always for our worship—what we give our first and best to reveals what we truly trust in. Through obedience and faith, the Israelites watched God bring down Jericho's walls, showing us that when we trust in Him, He provides the victory. Join us as we unpack what this means for our lives today. Are we building on temporary security, or are we trusting in the unshakable foundation of God?

In today's episode, we explored the idea that mistakes, particularly those born of brutal honesty, are vital opportunities for growth. Sherianna shared that her favorite mistake was being so candid—delivering feedback that wasn't always received well—that she later recognized as a catalyst for learning and deeper self-awareness. She explained how that raw honesty, while sometimes painful in the moment, ultimately taught her the importance of embracing and processing emotions rather than suppressing them. By owning her truth and inviting forgiveness—from herself and others—she discovered that these so-called mistakes could pave the way for more authentic, supportive relationships and a greater alignment with her inner guidance. Questions and Topics: What is your favorite mistake, and why does it stand out? Can you share a specific story that illustrates this pattern of brutal honesty? Reflecting on those experiences, would you do anything differently in similar situations? Can someone be prepared—or "braced"—for the impact of brutal honesty? What advice do you have for those struggling with the aftermath of a mistake? How can someone uncover the root of their emotional triggers, and what resources would you recommend? In your work, how do you define "spirit" and its role in emotional healing? Who is the ideal audience for your book, and in what situations would it be most helpful?

This week, we kicked off 2025 by exploring God's design for truth and how it shapes a full, meaningful life. We learned that the Bible isn't just a book—it's the foundation for how we make decisions, set priorities, and align our lives with God's best.   Through practical examples, we saw how God's Word is like a recipe: when followed, it delivers the life we long for. But ignoring it can lead to regret, emptiness, and brokenness.   As we head into this new year, let's commit to building our lives on God's truth. Whether through the S.O.A.P. method or diving into a weekly devotional, the rhythms we set now will shape the rest of 2025. As we embark on this new year, we're called to reflect on our spiritual journey and the formative power of our daily habits. The teaching revolves around the importance of intentional spiritual growth and the potential pitfalls of our digital age. Drawing from 1 Timothy 4 and John 10, we're reminded that our spiritual nourishment comes from actively listening to God's voice and following His ways.  The 28-day digital fast challenge presented isn't just about disconnecting from technology, but about reconnecting with God and each other. It's a powerful invitation to detox our minds, reset our priorities, and create space for deeper spiritual encounters. This fast parallels the biblical practice of fasting, where we set aside distractions to focus on our relationship with God.  As we consider our relationship with our devices, we're encouraged to ask: What is truly forming us? Are we allowing God's word to shape our thoughts and actions, or are we being molded by the constant stream of digital information? This challenge is an opportunity to rediscover the joy of undistracted time with God and to cultivate habits that nurture our souls. As we journey through the Advent season, we're reminded of the profound truth that waiting is an integral part of our faith. The story of the little girl trapped in a well serves as a powerful metaphor for our spiritual lives. Like those rescuers working tirelessly to save her, we too are in a state of anxious anticipation, waiting for God's ultimate rescue. This waiting isn't passive; it's an active process of remaining in Christ, as emphasized in John 15. We're called to abide in Him, to stay close, even when the world seems to be falling apart around us. This proximity to Jesus reveals God's love, which is the true catalyst for our transformation. In our moments of doubt and despair, what we perceive as 'deconversion moments' can actually be invitations to dive deeper into God's grace. Let's remember that we're part of a global, historic movement of faith that transcends our immediate circumstances. This morning we challenged ourselves to examine our beliefs and how they shape our faith. 2 Thessalonians 2, urges us to 'stand firm and keep a strong grip on the teachings we passed on to you.' As we explore this, we're reminded that true faith leads us to want true beliefs. In our current cultural moment, we're pushed and pulled by various influences, but we must remember that the nicest sounding beliefs aren't necessarily the right ones. Jesus warned us in John 15 that the world might hate us for our beliefs, but that shouldn't deter us from seeking truth. In this powerful message, we're challenged to embrace a countercultural love in a world dominated by hate. The key scripture, Luke 6:27-36, calls us to love our enemies and do good to those who hate us. This radical love was the hallmark of early Christianity, setting it apart from other religions. We're reminded that Jesus redefined love as 'agape' - an other-centered, sacrificial care for one another. The message draws an interesting parallel between our modern 'two minutes of hate' fueled by media and social polarization, and the propaganda described in George Orwell's '1984'. As followers of Christ, we're called to break this cycle of hate and embrace forgiveness, even when it's difficult. In a world that constantly pushes us towards self-centeredness, we're reminded of a profound truth: the cross of Jesus Christ doesn't just save us from our sins, it joins us to a family. This message challenges us to shift our focus from 'I' to 'we,' embracing our role in God's family. The scripture from Galatians 4:4-7 beautifully illustrates how we're adopted as God's children, prompting us to cry out 'Abba, Father.' This family dynamic isn't just a nice idea; it's a transformative reality that should reshape how we view church and our relationships within it. We're called to listen to spiritual mothers and fathers, live as sons and daughters, and grow alongside our brothers and sisters in faith. This perspective offers a powerful antidote to the cultural anthem of self-obsession, reminding us that our destiny is to join a diverse, multicultural chorus praising God. In our exploration of Judges 2:7-12, we confront a sobering reality: the decline of faith across generations. This passage serves as a reminder of how quickly we can forget God's mighty works. As we navigate our post-Christian landscape, we're called to understand the signs of our times and respond with compassion, not disdain. The rising tide of 'nones' – those unaffiliated with any religion – challenges us to rethink our approach to sharing our faith. We're reminded that evangelism is both a process and an event, requiring patience and explanation in a world that's often hesitant or apathetic towards Christianity.
