If you've ever felt like you're carrying too much — stress in your body, fear in your mind, or the weight of “what if I never get better?” — this episode is for you.

My Story pt6. Just because we leave a traumatic relationship, situation, or toxic cycle doesn't mean we then have the capacity to remain free from it. On this episode, I share what my life was like after I had left the trauma bonded relationship (the first time). That by leaving, it then created the space for my supressed pain to finally be felt so I could get free from internal suffering... but, I didn't actually have the capacity to be with that discomfort and feel it. This was the period of my life where I was in full swing of operating off my shadows. Doing anything I could to distract myself from my pain, and as a result, it lead me right back to what I had left. Key Takeaways: Gaining a relationship with your darkness, your internal world, is a direct link to you being able to maintain freedom from internal suffering. People show you who they are early, and you need to believe them. When your story is messy, let it be what it is. Let it be messy. If you're unable to be with discomfort, the likelihood of you choosing dynamics that perpetuates past trauma is very high. How you show up in daily life is a mirror to how you relate to your darkness. Distraction, escapism, avoiding, and numbing are protective mechanisms from feeling emotional pain. Your shadows are not innately bad. https://creatinglight.co Try a somatic activated healing class for free, here! Andrew also reads from Marilyn Monroe's posthumous autobiography, “My Story” and reads: “One day a grand piano arrived at my home, it was out of condition, my mother had bought it second hand, it was for me… years later when I was beginning to earn some money from modeling I started looking for the Frederic March piano, after about a year I found it at an old auction room and bought it” depicting Marilyn's attachment to gifts from her mother and in spite of reaching various forms of fame and success she could not forget the time she spent with her mother.Just to remind you all here's a brief description about the "The Callback” episode:As Ivy and Karen both attempt to please Derek in order to win the role of Marilyn, Julia and her husband Frank become frustrated by the process of their international adoption and Eileen's acrimonious divorce complicates her attempt to finance the musical.Follow ITBR on IG,@ivorytowerboilerroom and TikTok,@ivorytowerboilerroomOur Sponsors:To subscribe to The Gay and Lesbian Review visit glreview.org. After 10 years, I no longer have an IBS diagnosis or any correlating symptoms. Learn my top 10 lessons I learned in 10 years of healing.---10 years ago, in the spring of 2015, my own, personal sickness journey began with unexplained and sudden nighttime insomnia. At the time, I had NO idea that this seemingly small but annoying symptom was the beginning of a massive decline in my health that would not be slowed or corrected no matter what advice I followed, who I talked to, or how much money I spent. Now - 10 years later - I have NONE of the original symptoms or diagnosis of IBS, insomnia, or constipation that I started with in 2015. And not only that, but my entire life is changed. My career is changed, my lifestyle is changed, and my mental and physical health is better than it had been my entire childhood. So, to celebrate my 10 year anniversary of becoming (and undoing) being sick, I've gathered my Top 10 Lessons from 10 years of struggling, succeeding, and failing my way through IBS and into complete, whole body healing.Whether you're in the beginning of your own healing journey or have been in this journey for 5, 10, 20, or 30+ years, I hope these 10 lessons bring you hope, insight, tears, and catharsis of how healing is not a straightforward journey, but if you keep honest and true to your values and needs, you WILL find the healing you're looking for.TIMESTAMPS:00:00 - My 10-Year Healing Journey Begins01:25 - Welcome to the Better Belly Podcast02:30 - Unexpected Changes and Realizations05:12 - Top 10 Lessons from a Decade of Healing06:25 - Lesson 1: Healing Comes from Where You Least Expect It14:56 - Lesson 2: Your Body Will Guide You to Your Next Healing24:20 - Lesson 3: Your Symptoms Are Not the Enemy27:31 - Lesson 4: Healthcare Providers Aren't Immune to Health Issues28:27 - Overcoming Health Imperfections30:30 - The Journey to Healing32:15 - Addressing Multiple Health Issues33:32 - The BetterBelly Blueprint34:24 - Working Through Health Layers37:56 - Staying Curious and Finding Good Healers47:36 - Bonus Lesson: Unique Healing Practices51:13 - Final Thoughts and EncouragementEPISODES MENTIONED:1// My Story & How I Healed Myself from IBS90// Fascia 101: The Hidden Force Behind Bloating and Constipation36// How to Choose The Best Chiropractor with Dr. Zach Simkins and Dr. Tygue Arvidson228// My Top 5 Best and Worst Health Investments56// What I've Been Doing in My Health Since My Miscarriage + Registration is OPEN!!73// Surprise – I'm Pregnant!! Affirm: "There is nothing to heal, only God to reveal." (Ernest Holmes)Then light a candle and pray to God, knowing there's only God-- "O Blessed Lord, and my beloved Mother, Mary, accept this burning candle as a sign of my faith and love for you.Like this candle, I am ready to be used in Your service, without asking why and to what purpose.Even as this candle,I wish to stand in Your presence to be consumed in the light and warmth of Your love. Please hear my prayer and,if it is Your will, grant my petition.Above all, make me loyal and faithful to You in all circumstances of my life.AMEN" Every time I light a candle,I feel like I'm lighting myself. I can feel my halo. I can feel a fire around my heart.I can feel the fire in your spirit.Don't let anyone put it out today. Stay focused. Stay surrendered by saying, "Jesus, you take care of it."And watch Him do it!Won't He do it?! Love did it. In pain you pray for me to act, but that I act in the way you want. You do not turn to me, instead, you want me to adapt your ideas. You are not sick people who ask the doctor to cure you, but rather sick people who tell the doctor how to. So do not act this way, but pray as I taught you in the our Father: "Hallowed be thy Name", that is, be glorified in my need. "Thy kingdom come", that is, let all that is in us and in the world be in accord with your kingdom. "Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven", that is, in our need, decide as you see fit for our temporal and eternal life. If you say to me truly: "Thy will be done", which is the same as saying: "You take care of it", I will intervene with all my omnipotence, and I will resolve the most difficult situations.O Jesus, I surrender myself to you, take care of everything! Ooooh dare I speak of Cultural Appropriation? Heck yah. Let's talk about the problematic parts of using the word “Shaman,” and our longing as modern folk to have permission and right-relationship with indigenous folk as we open to our own intrinsic earth-based wisdom. I've got an embarrassing and relatable story to tell about when I got schooled on Native protocol, the need to honor visions as sacred, and the dangers of accidentally appropriating the culture of indigenous traditions that need to be preserved and honored. Talked About in Today's Episode: ⏳ 00:00:21 - Exploring my complicated relationship with the term and its implications. ⏳ 00:01:27 - A candid discussion on heritage, respect, and personal responsibility in spiritual practice. ⏳ 00:06:48 - Sharing my early psychic experiences and how they led to profound spiritual insights. ⏳ 00:09:20 - A pivotal moment when I was confronted by a Lakota Sioux representative about unknowingly sharing sacred knowledge. ⏳ 00:14:04 - How I've learned from indigenous mentors and found ethical ways to integrate animist and ancestral practices into my work. In this episode of THE MENTORS RADIO, Daniel Ruettiger—who the world knows as "Rudy"—joins Host Dan Hesse to discuss the movie about his against-all-odds mission for admission to the University of Notre Dame, and his even more unlikely tackle in a football game. The movie "RUDY," a 1993 American biographical sports film directed by David Anspaugh, captures that now-famous tackle and the remarkable story leading up to it, in what USA Today calls “the greatest football movie of all time.” But some don't know that Rudy's greatest achievement might be getting the movie made in the first place – a “Rocky” story, but one that actually happened! Dan and Rudy discuss this journey as well as Rudy's chance encounters with Elvis Presley and Kobe Bryant. After listening to this episode you'll know first-hand why Rudy Ruettiger has become such an in-demand motivational speaker. You'll also gain a plethora of insights and inspiration to breath fresh life into your own unique journey! Here it is - THE PRICING TALK. Since I believe storytelling is one of the best avenues of learning, I'm broaching this with simply my experience - which, let's be honest, after 10+ years in business I've seen and tried just about everything. I'm talking —$50 sessions with CDs in plastic sleeves, IPS out of my tiny starter Hawaii apartment, every combination of session fee + collection model imaginable, and eventually moving to an all-inclusive digital model with print credit and a la carte sales. We're talking numbers, collection details, logistics - so much that this is just Part 1. This episode is packed with real numbers, honest reflections, and plenty of takeaways for you to apply to your own business.Whether you're just starting out or rethinking your pricing strategy, stick around to the end for tips on how to build a pricing model that actually works for you—your style, your life, and your goals. Next week in part II we'll dive into the past five years, where I made big shifts, grew my family + 2 more kids, and faced new challenges (hello, pandemic) and how pricing changes fit into the scheme of things when developing a life and a business you love. // LINKS MENTIONED // Episode 30: MY STORY - https://leahoconnell.com/ep-30-my-story-the-roots-experience-failures-inspirations-that-shaped-my-photography-business-paying-it-forward/ Homestyle Accelerator Group: https://www.leahoconnell.com/homestyle The LEARN page with free resources - https://www.leahoconnell.com/learn Photo Fuel Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/photofuel/
