In this sermon, Pastor Tom preached from Acts 2:42-47. In this passage, we see the early church as a devoted church. A devoted church to spiritual things and not earthly things. Why were they devoted? Because they were a Spirit-filled church. They were indwelled by the Holy Spirit, dependent on the Holy Spirit, and controlled by the Holy Spirit. As they devoted themselves to spiritual things, God used their devotion to carry the gospel to the whole world! As followers of Jesus, what are we devoted to? Check out this sermon to learn more!
What if Lent isn't primarily about giving something up… but about accepting an invitation? In The Invitation, Pastor Tom VanAntwerp takes us to Exodus 33 and the powerful image of the Tent of Meeting—a place Moses set up outside the camp where he met with God “face to face, as one speaks to a friend.” It's a stunning picture of intimacy. In a noisy, hurried, performance-driven world, God extends a simple but profound invitation: Come away. Quiet the noise. Slow down. Meet with Me. Lent often feels heavy—ashes, repentance, reflection. But beneath it is something deeply hopeful. God delights in you. He knows you by name. And He longs to fill the canvas of these forty days with His presence, rest, and renewal. In this message, Pastor Tom explores three tensions we all feel: • A quiet spirituality in a noisy world • A slow spirituality in a hurried world • A relational spirituality in a transactional culture Spiritual disciplines like Sabbath, fasting, and prayer are not about proving ourselves to God. They are about posturing ourselves to receive what He is already pouring out. And in the middle of Moses' anxiety and unanswered questions, God makes this promise: “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” (Exodus 33:14) That promise still stands. This message is an invitation—into nearness, into delight, into relationship. The God of the universe is not asking for better performance. He is inviting you into friendship.

This sermon from Pastor Tom Messer addresses the critical question of what the Bible teaches about sin, emphasizing that sin is not merely about breaking rules but about rejecting God's wisdom. Pastor Tom explores how sin is deceitful, destructive, and leads to darkness, while contrasting it with the path of wisdom and righteousness. Drawing heavily from Proverbs, he emphasizes that victory over sin requires cultivating biblical wisdom, guarding one's heart, and ultimately looking to Jesus Christ as the light that overcomes darkness. Pastor Tom really challenges listeners to recognize that sin is actively seeking to destroy them and that they must daily pursue God's wisdom and strength to walk the narrow path toward life rather than the broad path toward destruction.
Welcome to church! Today we are wrapping up our "HABITS: Running the Race" series on this Super Sunday. While the rest of the world is focused on the "Big Game," we are focusing on the "Big Victory" already won for us by Jesus. Pastor Tom explores the final habit: Sacraments. We'll look at the beautiful meaning behind Baptism and Communion—what the Presbyterian tradition calls the "outward sign of an inward work"—and how these practices keep us connected to Christ and each other.
One of the core characteristics of a healthy church is the radical generosity of God's grace to us in Jesus Christ resulting in our radical generosity toward others.

Love...Works | Pastor Tom Sardella | 2/01/2026 by Redeeming Love Church
In a world that celebrates constant productivity and relentless busyness, many of us find ourselves exhausted, distracted, and spiritually depleted. We don't stop working because we hate the destination—we stop because we've run out of fuel. In this message, Pastor Tom VanAntwerp invites us to rediscover one of God's most overlooked and life-giving gifts: the Sabbath. From the opening pages of Scripture, we see that rest is not an afterthought—it is woven into creation itself. God works, and then God rests. Not because He is tired, but because rest completes good work. And as people made in God's image, we are invited to live into that same rhythm. This sermon explores how Sabbath is far more than taking a day off or catching up on sleep. True Sabbath is an intentional entering into the rest of God—a rest that restores our souls, realigns our priorities, and reshapes our understanding of who we are. In this message, you'll reflect on: Why rest is essential to faithful and sustainable work The biblical rhythm of work and rest (the 6–1 pattern) Why stopping work doesn't always mean we are truly rested How Sabbath helps us rediscover delight, trust “enough,” and remember God's story over the world's stories How Jesus Himself modeled rhythms of prayerful rest in the midst of demanding ministry Sabbath reminds us that we are not defined by productivity, success, or output. We are image-bearers before we are workers. Loved before we are useful. Rested before we are sent. If you feel burned out… If life feels hurried and noisy… If your work has started shaping your identity more than God's grace… This message is an invitation to slow down, trust God more deeply, and live your life—and your work—out of a place of rest.

What does faith look like when life doesn't make sense? In this message from Hebrews 11–12, Pastor Tom reflects on walking with people through suffering and explores the testimonies of Abel and Enoch—two people of faith who pleased God yet experienced radically different outcomes. Through their stories, we're reminded that faith is trusting God when we cannot see or understand, resting in His promises rather than our own efforts. This message encourages perseverance through suffering, resistance to temptation, and unshakable hope in the resurrection, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.
A desperate man is driven by suffering to find healing and rest in Jesus.

What does it really mean to be a friend of God? In this message from James 4, Pastor Tom explores the Bible's deep, relational vision of friendship with the living God—one marked by loyalty, love, and intimacy. Drawing on the powerful imagery of friendship and marriage, he challenges us to see how divided loyalties and worldly desires lead to spiritual adultery and distance from God. With clarity and pastoral urgency, this message calls us to repentance, humility, and renewed devotion, reminding us of the beautiful promise at the heart of it all: He gives more grace.

Join Pastor Tom Messer as he explores God's new covenant with His people as described in Jeremiah 31, contrasting it with the old covenant of law. Pastor Tom emphasizes that the new covenant transforms our relationship with God from external obedience to internal transformation, writing God's law on our hearts rather than stone tablets. The core message is that all human problems stem from forgetting who God is in any given moment. The new covenant reconciles the tension between God's justice (law) and His mercy (love), demonstrating that God is both perfectly holy and perfectly loving simultaneously. Through Christ's sacrifice, believers receive forgiveness not based on their performance but on Jesus' perfect obedience. This covenant relationship should reshape how Christians view God, themselves, and others, moving them from consumer-based relationships to covenant commitment. The sermon concludes with communion, illustrating how Christ's broken body and shed blood established this new covenant of grace.

Work isn't just something we do — it's something that forms us. In this message, Pastor Tom VanAntwerp explores how our daily work shapes who we are becoming and how God uses ordinary labor to bring His kingdom into the world. Drawing from Romans 12, Genesis 1, and Jesus' prayer that God's will be done “on earth as it is in heaven,” this sermon invites us to see work not as a divide between sacred and secular, but as a primary place of spiritual formation. In this message you'll hear: How work can either form or malform us Why Scripture refuses to separate work from worship How God intends our workplaces to be places where heaven meets earth What it looks like to live an integrated Sunday-to-Monday faith Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

This week, Pastor Tom leads us into James 4, confronting a hidden threat to our faith and our unity—not the world outside us, but the desires within us. As we wait in the “in-between time,” crying Maranatha—Come, Lord Jesus, James exposes how unchecked desires fuel conflict, hinder prayer, and fracture the church. Pastor Tom unpacks how godly wisdom calls us to humility, repentance, and renewed longing for Christ alone. Discover how surrendering our desires to God leads to healing, peace, and a harvest of righteousness as we wait for Jesus' return.
This sermon explores the book of Lamentations, focusing on how believers can maintain hope during seasons of profound suffering and disappointment. The message centers on Lamentations 3:19-27, emphasizing that God's mercies are new every morning and His faithfulness never fails. Pastor Tom Messer addresses the inevitable reality that all Christians will face times when their world falls apart, when they feel abandoned by God, and when their circumstances challenge their understanding of God's character. The core theological truth presented is that hope is not restored when circumstances change, but when we remember the unchanging character and unfailing mercy of God. Pastor Tom teaches that suffering is part of being human and that these difficult seasons are designed to develop character and deepen faith. Two practical applications are emphasized: Preaching the Gospel to Yourself Daily and Bringing Your Disappointments Directly to God Through Honest Prayer and Lament.
