Hey there, this is Ron, and welcome to episode 154 of the Lost Trailrunner podcast. This episode is a bit shorter than usual, but it comes with an important update from Mountain Park. I've been under the weather this past week, and it has thrown my PeachTree training plan off course. It all started on Wednesday afternoon after an easy MAF 5k run. By the time I got home, every muscle in my body was aching, and my temperature had risen. Over the next couple of days, I battled a high fever, sore throat, and a persistent cough that made even simple tasks feel exhausting. Although my temperature has come down, I am still dealing with lingering symptoms. Despite feeling unwell, I decided to take a walk at Mountain Park. Walking seems to help, and I feel better when I'm moving. I discuss how my fever fluctuated and how I've been managing my symptoms. I also share my thoughts on whether it could be COVID-19 or just a severe cold. Thankfully, my fever has broken, and I'm hoping to get back to running soon. During my walk, I reflect on the importance of staying active even when you're not feeling your best. Walking might not be as strenuous as running, but it's better than doing nothing. I aim to walk 45 minutes every day to maintain some level of fitness until I can resume my regular training schedule. In this episode, I also mention a new AI feature from Podbean that I'm considering using to enhance the podcast. This feature can generate show notes and edit out pauses, hums, and coughs, which might be particularly useful given the number of breaks in this recording. Join me on this journey as I navigate through this challenging week and look forward to getting back on track. Thanks for listening, and I hope to bring you a more positive update in the next episode. Keep the emails coming in and be sure to subscribe! This is the 2nd podcast of the year, if I can get these things out at least once a month I will call it a win for now. I went on a buying spree, which has nothing to do with my running. Well not directly, 1st I got a new phone at the end of last year (which I have started to use for recording the podcast) I am using the Hindenburg field recorder app on my iPhone because it will load directly into my Hindenburg Journalist software on my Mac. My new Mac just arrived on the 22nd of February. That was actually my 3rd purchase. My second purchase was a new Apple Watch series 4.  I didn’t think that the Apple Watch would be as practical for running as my Garmin, but I found an app called iSmoothRun. That app is great, I can make customized runs just as I could with my Garmin and the app will send all the information to any other running program that I use, such as STRAVA. The only drawback that the Apple Watch has that I have found so far is the battery. I can get one good day out of a charge, I don’t think I can get any more out of it. If I turned off certain functions such as heart rate it would probably last longer, but I didn’t buy it to not use the functions that it has. Why buy something and then turn everything off that uses battery, might as well have a plain old wrist watch.  I just completed my schedule for the first part of the year. I have 3 races planned, they are all 3 trail races and short in distance. I have one planned for March 9th A 2nd planned for May 4th And the 3rd planned for June 15th The longest trail race is only 4.3 miles, so you can see when I say short I mean short. Peachtree is always on my list of races and this year will be my 40th Peachtree. Well this February we have had the coldest (in the 20s) and the warmest (in the high 70s) so far this winter. Recorded on an iPhone Xs using the Hindenburg Field Recorder app. Edited on Hindenburg Journalist software. We used a Galloway 15/30 warm up for 10 minutes, then switched to 15/15 for 15 minutes, then went back to a 15/30 for a 10 minute cool down. Hope you enjoy our rambling on about running, etc. This podcast was recorded on an iPhone 8+ using a Zoom iQ6 microphone as well as a Blue Yeti Nano usb microphone and edited using Hindenburg Journalist software. Today I went to Yellow River Park Trails for a run. When I got there signs said that the trails were closed. I saw plenty of cars with bike racks that were empty so I knew trail somewhere had to be open. I started off walking to check it out and ended up walking for the whole workout. That was fine since I recorded during my walk. Talked about the trail race I ran yesterday, then after a little musical break I discussed plans for running the race at Disney on Nov. 3rd. The song between segments is: Steel Wheels Whine by the band "Lazlo" lead singer Landon Clifford.  This podcast was recorded on an iPhone 8+ using a Zoom iQ6 microphone and edited using Hindenburg Journalist software. I am on the trail at Yellow River Park today. Easy day today, so just a x-training walk while I record. I play a comment that I received from Martha in Indianapolis. (I would also like to apologize to Martha for calling her Marsha a couple of times while I was recording on the trail.) You can send me a comment by going to losttrailrunner.com and clicking on the Speakpipe button and recording. Here is the latest installment of my podcast. I was first going to publish it as a Ron'sUpdate podcast, but changed my mind when it turned out to be over 30 minutes. I go for my weekly long run on the Greenway Trail in Lilburn. I will have to admit that my long run is fairly short since I am only into my 2nd week back running. I talk about various races that I am planning to run, my running shoes, and the Garmin that I have ordered. Turned out to be a great day for a run. The intro and outro music is from Digitaljuice. The intro is "Hardwired" and the outro is "OneToothSmile". The podcast was recorded on an Olympus WS-853 Digital Recorder with a Giant Squid mic and edited on Hindenburg Journalist software. This is my long overdue update on what's happening in my running. Ran a trail race at Chateau Elan and injured myself. Therefore my Half Marathon on December 17th is now in jeopardy. Actually it is more out of the question now. I am going to see if I can switch to the Virtual option of the race, which will give me more time to recover hopefully. I went out to Stone Mountain to see if I could even run since I haven't been able to run since Nov. 18th. I managed to get in a 35 minute run/walk and felt encouraged but realized that the Half is really not doable in December. I Have to get into some serious rehab for my leg.
