Guests: Vice President Kamala Harris, Dr. Marshall Shepherd, and Dr. Isaiah BoldenAll of us Weather Geeks know how important our changing climate is for the future of our world. It is going to shape our lives and our children's lives if we do not take action soon, and that action needs to be more than on a personal level. We need our government bodies all the way up to the White House to take action. We had the amazing opportunity to sit down with Vice President Kamala Harris and Dr. Isaiah Bolden from Georgia Tech back in February to have a roundtable discussion on climate change and how the Presidential office plans to address it.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Guests: Weather Geeks TeamDescription: One of the biggest metrics for tracking extreme weather events that impact our country is quantifying them as “Billion Dollar Disasters.” Earlier this week, NOAA announced that 7 separate billion-dollar disasters have occurred so far in 2023. Every month of the year so far has had at least one disaster, ranging from winter events to tornadoes. We are going to take time during this episode to break down each one and how that sets up these regions for the rest of the year ahead with more of the severe season still ahead of us and tropical season looming around the corner…See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

EPISODE 196: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:43) SPECIAL COMMENT: "The first girl I walked up to," said one of the first bystanders to the scene in Allen, Texas, "was crouched down covering her head in the bushes, so I felt for a pulse, pulled her head to the side and she had no face." The cops then refused to take questions and the authorities had nothing but emotionless platitudes. We live now in a society in which our children are randomly put to death in public, with weapons of war, by Right Wing Terrorists - and the Republicans treat it as blandly as if it were all as inevitable as Bad Weather. Hurricanes, Tornados, Thunderstorms, Mass Shootings. If they show any emotion it is to tell us this is god's will or to explain we have "lost" the battle to rein in assault weapons, as the shrill screeching fascist Megyn Kelly did. The antidote to the dour acceptance of this slaughter must come from the president of the United States. He must act - by executive orders to address those peripheral areas that can at least reduce the carnage - and most importantly by stating the truth: Republicans Cause Mass Shootings. B-Block (17:00) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: Judge calls Chump's bluff in E. Jean Carroll Trial, Pence gives Jack Smith guilty foreknowledge, Tucker Carlson has plans to burn down Fox, and Dick Durbin has excuses for Dianne Feinstein and John Roberts (21:45) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Ted Cruz can't tell one African-American from another, Chuck Grassley loses the thread on the "explosive" Biden document (it's the Burisma crap), and Vivek Ramaswamy is trying to bury his Fellowship. His... SOROS Fellowship. C-Block (27:00) EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY: Gray, in the worsening situation at the NYC pound. (28:05) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: 24 hours before Megyn Kelly's infamous tweets, of all the people who could have been walking on my New York street, who do I run into but the idiot NBC executive who gave her $69 million and tried to mainstream her. Happily I managed to avoid his gaze; as usual, Andy Lack was too busy listening to himself talk.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The air crackled with anticipation as we awaited the arrival of our next guest, Laurascott Barfield. We stood outside Kapstone realty office, located on an ancient off Main St. road in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The office was a hip and trendy place, fitting for someone like Laurascott, a realtor with a heart for adventure. She hailed from the rugged terrain of northern Idaho, a place where mountains were the norm, and nature was her solace.Laurascott's journey was not an easy one. Her parents' divorce when she was just ten years old left her feeling angry and resentful. She moved to Orlando with her parents before eventually settling in Tuscaloosa, where she found solace in the great outdoors. She lived and breathed nature, and her love for it was evident in everything she did. Her home was her sanctuary, nestled far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. But life had other plans for Laurascott, as she came face to face with the devastation wrought by a tornado that tore through Tuscaloosa years ago. She narrowly escaped with her life, but the traumatic experience left her shaken to the core. Yet, instead of letting it break her, she used the experience to fuel her motivation, drawing on the lessons learned from that fateful day to shape her into the person she is today. As Laurascott danced with The Jar, telling her story, it was clear that she had come a long way from the angry girl she once was. Her journey was one of resilience and strength, and her determination to overcome the obstacles in her path was truly inspiring. In the end, Laurascott's story was not just one of survival but also of redemption, and it served as a testament to the human spirit's enduring resilience. Guests: Dr. Steven ThurIntroduction: When extreme weather events rear their ugly heads, our first concerns are naturally with people and property. But sometimes, we tend to forget the impacts on the environment around us and the animals that also inhabit the same spaces we live and breathe. The impact on their environment also leads to huge impacts on the economies around their habitats as well. As we move on and focus our attention on the next weather event, the unheard cries of the environment beg for us to notice them. Additionally, as our climate is changing and the world continues to get warmer, those impacts can become more and more exasperated. What do we need to do as an industry of meteorologists and scientists to start focusing more on these issues before our attention is taken elsewhere? We've brought in Dr. Steven Thur, Director of NOAA's Oceanic and Atmospheric Research division, to discuss…See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

There's a private fish hatchery with lots of opportunities to catch some nice fish, and right in downtown Gatlinburg. Jacob's youngest son catches a monster rainbow. The only thing better than catching them yourself is watching kids reel ‘em in. Find out what makes Gatlinburg an underrated fishing destination and learn how Brayden got his start on a fly rod in Gatlinburg as well. Brayden went to a Luke Combs concert and had a comical run in with some backwards hat-wearing Instagram cowboys … find out how he saved their day. There were several other up-and-coming country music stars on stage and everyone put on a great show. He's getting ready for turkey hunting season and trying to get some birds on camera. Arica grabbed some concert tickets for a special Christmas show. She went camping with her family and went looking for morel mushrooms but didn't find any.
