Running trends are everywhere right now, from Garmin badge chasing and runDisney friendship bracelets to Strava titles, race-day tattoos, emotional support water bottles, matching outfits, sparkle, DJ run clubs, and yes… people apparently churning butter on the run.In this fun and wildly relatable episode of Extraordinary Strides, Coach Christine is joined by Shelly Rose to unpack the viral running trends they love, the ones they would happily retire, and the race-day etiquette runners should not ignore. Then they take on the Running Alphabet Challenge, trying to cheer on imaginary runners from A to Z without Googling, cheating, or losing their dignity somewhere around X.Whether you run, walk, race, cheer, sparkle, badge chase, or simply wonder what on earth runners are doing on social media, this episode is a lighthearted reminder that fitness does not have to be serious to be meaningful, and community really does make the miles better. If you enjoyed today's episode, please share it with a running friend. Carbon monoxide, kickbacks, avionics upgrades, and leaning radials are on tap. Email podcasts@aopa.org for a chance to be on the show. Join the world's largest aviation community at aopa.org/join Full notes below: Bill has a Cessna 210 and in climb he gets 50-100 ppm on his CO gauge. When he levels and goes lean of peak it goes back to normal. He's also noticed that if he puts the heat on he also doesn't have a high reading on his gauge. It's not from a hole in the firewall, Paul says. The most common places it can come in are from the header tanks where they come in through the belly, the steering boots on the nose gear, the down-lock boots on the main gear down-locks, the pilot's cabin door (look for light in the lower left corner of the door for light while in flight). The level goes down when he turns on the heat because he's pressurizing the cabin, which keeps the CO draft out. And he doesn't get it at LOP because he doesn't have nearly as much un-combusted fuel in this state, the driver of CO. Bob has a Cessna 182 and it has a North Point (nee P-Ponk) engine with an MT prop and experienced a kickback during start. He's wondering how to move forward. His mechanic recommended removing one of the impulse couplings (he has two). The kickback would occur if one of them didn't activate properly, Paul said. If the ignition fires early during the start process, the impulse coupling delays the spark until top dead center. If it fails, it doesn't delay it, and the kickback occurs. When the kickback happens, the nylon gears in the mags are stressed, the spring in the starter adapter can break. The hosts recommend changing that and inspecting the impulse coupling. The hosts gristle when Bob mentioned the MT prop. It's so much lighter than aluminum, and they result in many more kickbacks. Kyle is wondering about the leaning philosophy on the R-985 engine on the Beaver he flies. The manual cautions against leaning below 5,000 feet, and he's wondering what the hosts think. Colleen said since it's his employer's airplane and there's no engine monitor in the Beaver to just keep it full rich as directed. Mike said he might fly it in cruise just like a typical 4-cylinder and lean to the onset of roughness and enrichen it only until smooth again. Erick is looking at purchasing a Columbia 400 with legacy avionics and he's thinking ahead to potential long-term maintenance issues. The hosts explain the potential repair, maintenance, and replacement options. These include the Avidyne yearly maintenance fee he can choose to do with Avidyne, or he could install Garmin, which is STC'd. The MFD has an AD to replace the battery after 10 years.

Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend!   I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks…   Matt: Hi Dr Cabral, I'm constantly trying to improve my sleep but can rarely ever get more than 6 to 6 1/2 hours consistently. If I go to bed earlier, I wake up earlier ready to go. Right now I'm taking 2g of taurine, balanced zinc, 500mg magnesium, 100mg theanine, 50mg Apagenin and 3g of glycine. I have no problem falling asleep but consistently wake up around 3-4am. I recently added some Inositol to help get back to sleep but I can't really remember the last time I went to sleep and woke up the next morning by my alarm clock. Just to note, I'm 45 with 3 kids that also like to pop in our room in the middle of the night. Any tips to help get that 7-8 hours I need?       Tricia: Hello Dr C! I'm 57 and I tested my estrogen and progesterone. I'm of course estrogen dominant. I started taking your progesterone support and gosh it is amazing! My sleep has gotten even better! My question is do you think I should take the estrogen supplement too to help balance the two? Are these usually lifetime supplements for post menopausal women? Thanks     Kevin: Just received my annual labs back for annual physical and total Cholesterol is 299, Triglycerides 70, HDL 105, LDL 180, ratio 3.8, and LDL Direct at 182. I have Hashimoto disease, candida for past couple of years and mycotoxins from mold exposure. I cant afford to move out of house so I'm still exposed. I had a functional doctor but can no longer afford the out of pocket expenses. I was on cholestramine powder along with binders but stopped doing them last year because not helping. I'm really worried about having stroke or heart attack. I don't know where to start anymore and been told without moving nothings going to work. What do you recommend I do.? I plan on purchasing Proteolytic Enzymes with Nattokinase to hopefully reduce plaque. What tests do you think would be best for me?       Sienna: Hi Dr. Cabral - hoping you can help! In a country where FM labs aren't an option + entering into mid-40's, surrounded by Perimenopause "fear". I have done your hormone HRA + apart from feeling like I get TRIGGERED a lot easier, I don't have more of the common symptoms (ie night sweats). My cycle the last 2 months was slightly longer but don't want to over think it. I am wondering if there are bloods that can help outline where we are in terms of our hormones (I know saliva is preferable)... I really want to support my hormones, and know you say we can do this naturally well into later life ie 60's! I know estrogen declines + ED is common - would appreciate markers to look at, ranges + if your wife couldn't test what you'd recommend for her :) Thank you for ALL you do! Sienna       Rianna: Hi Dr. Cabral! Sleep it's an area I am REALLY focused on supporting - we know when we are tired everything is harder ;-) & I am all about energy as I move towards my mid-40's.. I track my sleep on Garmin + know you mention Deep Sleep (90 mins) + Rem Sleep (2+ hours) as ideals, but I am no where near there consistently. The only time I get quite close is during my detox. My HRV has improved considerably (almost doubled) since Jan(through substantially reducing alcohol intake + focusing on sleep hygiene). I average on 7 - 7.5 hours sleep, mostly right through or brief wake, + mostly feel great/rested. My REM sleep this morning was 0 minutes (??) - is that reall even possible? 80 mins deep, 6.5 hrs"light" - how much attention would you give it if you feel recharged? Tips? Thx for all you do!     Thank you for tuning into this weekend's Cabral HouseCalls and be sure to check back tomorrow for our Mindset & Motivation Monday show to get your week started off right!   - - - Show Notes and Resources: StephenCabral.com/3782 - - - Get a FREE Copy of Dr. Cabral's Book: The Rain Barrel Effect - - - Join the Community & Get Your Questions Answered: CabralSupportGroup.com - - - Dr. Cabral's Most Popular At-Home Lab Tests: > Complete Minerals & Metals Test (Test for mineral imbalances & heavy metal toxicity) - - - > Complete Candida, Metabolic & Vitamins Test (Test for 75 biomarkers including yeast & bacterial gut overgrowth, as well as vitamin levels) - - - > Complete Stress, Mood & Metabolism Test (Discover your complete thyroid, adrenal, hormone, vitamin D & insulin levels) - - - > Complete Food Sensitivity Test (Find out your hidden food sensitivities) - - - > Complete Omega-3 & Inflammation Test (Discover your levels of inflammation related to your omega-6 to omega-3 levels) - - - Get Your Question Answered On An Upcoming HouseCall: StephenCabral.com/askcabral - - - Would You Take 30 Seconds To Rate & Review The Cabral Concept? #352 | Raising the Next One: A Lifetime of Bird Dogs with Steve Snell of Gun Dog Supply

Bird dogs come and go over a hunting life, and every new puppy is a chance to do it better than the last. Fresh off bringing home a new setter pup, Nick Larson sits down with Steve Snell of Gun Dog Supply to talk through what 50-plus dogs have taught Steve about raising the next one, from the first weeks at home to a lifetime in the field. It had been since 2018 — episode #12 — that Steve was last on the show, and a lot of ground gets covered here. The conversation opens on bird dog safety: heat and when to call a hunt, the real risk math on rattlesnakes versus ticks, and the hazard most owners underrate (porcupines, not snakes). From there it works its way through nearly every stage of a dog's life — breed selection, the first few weeks with a puppy, crate training, sound exposure, table work, and the gear that actually matters — before closing on Garmin's new TT25 beeper and why Steve runs mini flex bands on every dog he owns. A throughline keeps surfacing: the hunter's job is to make good decisions on the dog's behalf, because the dog won't make them for itself. Expect to Learn: - Why Steve sees protecting the dog as the hunter's responsibility — the dog won't protect itself. - How heat, sun, wind, and terrain change the call on whether to run a dog at all. - Why porcupines may be a bigger day-to-day problem than the rattlesnakes everyone fears. - How Steve thinks about matching a breed to where and how you actually hunt. - What Steve focuses on in a puppy's first few weeks, and why he keeps sessions to five or ten minutes. - Why he raises every dog inside the house, and how exposure to noise, crates, kids, and vehicles builds a bulletproof dog. - The only two pieces of gear Steve insists on for a new puppy — and why a drag line does so much work. - What's new with Garmin's TT25 beeper, and why Steve recommends a mini flex band for every bird dog. Frequently Asked: When should you stop hunting a bird dog in the heat? Steve uses roughly 65 degrees as his cutoff in Texas and says he'll never run a dog over 70 when it's sunny with no wind. The number isn't fixed — humidity, cloud cover, and wind all change it. His larger point: bird dogs won't quit on their own, so it's on the hunter to make the call, even when that means not hunting at all. What's the most underrated danger for a bird dog in the field? Porcupines, in Steve's experience. Snakes get treated as the boogeyman, but porcupine encounters are far more frequent, and they smell appealing to a pointing dog. The real trouble is the dog that doesn't learn its lesson — the one that goes back for revenge. He'd take a skunk encounter over a porcupine any day. How do you choose the right bird dog breed? Steve's rule is to match the breed to where and how you actually hunt the majority of the time — not to the breed you find most appealing. He also starts his search geographically, buying pointers out of lines hunted in tough country like Texas, Oklahoma, and the Southwest, because a dog bred where you hunt is built for it. What should you do with a bird dog puppy in the first few weeks? Steve keeps it simple and short. Sessions run five to ten minutes, broken up across the day, so the puppy never gets burned out or sour. He focuses on self-control and exposure over drills, and he always leaves them wanting more — and he prefers raising the dog inside the house from day one. Notable Quotes: "To me it's the hunter's responsibility to protect the dog 'cause the dog's not gonna protect himself." — Steve Snell "Developing a puppy — that's my favorite part of the game." — Steve Snell Resources Mentioned: - Steve Snell's "7 Puppy Tips" puppy-raising article (Gun Dog Supply): https://www.gundogsupply.com/2026-04-23-7-puppy-tips.html - Garmin TT25 Mini (the beeper/collar Steve discussed): https://www.gundogsupply.com/garmin-tt25-mini.html Follow Steve: Gun Dog Supply — https://www.gundogsupply.com Follow Nick: Instagram @birdshot.podcast — https://BirdshotPodcast.com Listen: - Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/17EVUDJPwR2iJggzhLYil7 - Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/birdshot-podcast/id1288308609 - YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkIF3w6P9rkuciwX-jEMG3g Support the Show: - onX Hunt — use code BSP20 to save 20% on your onX Hunt subscription. - Trulock Chokes — use code BS10 to save 10%. Apple's WWDC 2026 keynote did three things at once: announced Tim Cook's retirement and John Ternus as the next CEO, rebuilt Siri on top of Google's Gemini models, and quietly seeded code for a foldable iPhone into iOS 27.This episode breaks down all three. The Siri rebrand is the headline. The newly named "Siri AI" runs on Gemini through Apple's Private Cloud Compute layer, gets a standalone app, and adds real-time screen awareness plus personal context across apps. It's the first time Apple has handed its assistant to a competitor's model, and the privacy framing on stage was clearly built to answer the question that move invites. The foldable iPhone story isn't in the keynote, it's in the code. Analysts pulled flexible display references and new app-adaptability tools out of iOS 27 betas, the strongest signal yet that the long-rumored foldable is closer than Apple is saying. Then the platform updates. iOS 27 brings up to 30% faster app launches and supports every device back to the iPhone 11. macOS 27 "Golden Gate" drops Intel support and refines the Liquid Glass design system. The Health app added perimenopause and menopause tracking, and Apple Watch picked up updates aimed squarely at Garmin and Whoop. Expanded parental controls now require child accounts for under-13s.Two things that almost got buried. Siri AI won't launch in Europe or China at first because of regulatory complexity, which leaves Apple's two largest non-US markets out of the headline feature. And this was Tim Cook's final WWDC as CEO. He hands the role to hardware chief John Ternus on September 1, ending a 14-year run.We cover what it means for Apple's identity that the privacy-first company now routes its assistant through Google, why Ternus over Federighi is a hardware-first bet at exactly the moment AI is software-defined, and what foldable code in iOS 27 says about the iPhone 18 roadmap.WWDC 2026, Apple WWDC, Siri AI, Google Gemini, iOS 27, foldable iPhone, Tim Cook retirement, John Ternus, Apple Intelligence, macOS Golden Gate, Apple Watch, Apple Health.

Listener feedback from Chris H. sparks a debate on whether heavy dual time before the private checkride is a red flag or just life happening. Community accomplishments include a PIN code for the DC FRZ, a 9,000 foot density altitude wake turbulence encounter, ten Young Eagles in one day, an LSRM-I sign-off, and fresh grief for everyone hand jamming a Garmin 430 in actual. Then things go deeper. Brian unpacks his new video "Trip. Fall. Succeed." and the photograph he took of a family at Huntsville Executive just two days before they were lost in the Montana Aztec accident. In this week's episode of the Push Pull Legs Podcast, hosts Dan and Tom tear apart the ongoing debate surrounding wearable fitness trackers like Whoop, Garmin, and the Oura Ring. We unpack the recent public backlash against Stephen Bartlett's alcohol consumption comments and analyse whether health optimisation metrics promote positive lifestyle tracking or just state-of-the-art health anxiety. Plus, we look directly at running app strength training plans, exposing the shocking program flaws, lopsided push-pull volume, and highly questionable exercise selections designed by "expert" in-house AI. Finally, we defend the massive financial and social value of being an in-person personal trainer over an online coach, and rank the ultimate top five roast dinner meats (including an emotive defence of roast lamb). 0:00 Stephen Bartlett, Alcohol, and Public Backlash 2:56 Wearables, Whoop, and Optimising Your Life 11:39 Top Five Roast Dinner Meats 22:20 In-Person PT vs. Online Coaching 33:22 Evaluating Running App Strength Programs Stay Connected: ✅ Subscribe for weekly fitness news and coaching education.

runDisney training may be between big weekends, but our brains are still in race mode. We start by mapping the season ahead, talking base building, long-run confidence, and how to sneak in hill work even when you live somewhere flat. We also share one of our favorite community rituals: a collaborative Spotify training playlist that turns solo miles into a shared soundtrack and helps you find new “go-to” songs when motivation runs low. Then the mood shifts to the headache a lot of runners felt this week: Princess Half Marathon Weekend registration gets postponed. We talk through what it's like to sit in the queue, how tough it is when people rearrange work and family schedules, and why the added service fee makes the whole thing sting more. We also wrestle with the uncomfortable question: if races keep selling out fast, what pressure would actually lead to better registration tech and clearer communication? From there, we go full gear nerd with a roundtable on running technology. Garmin vs COROS watches, Shokz bone conduction headphones, hydration vests, the Gymboss interval timer for run-walk training, Strava add-ons, and the new gadgets that tempt us, including ENGO sunglasses with a heads-up display. We also share honest buyer's remorse, from fueling experiments that wreck your stomach to lights and accessories that never live up to the ads.We wrap with a spotlight that brings the fun back: Andrew the Puppet Runner joins us to share his free summer virtual race (5K, 10K, and half) and why he's connecting it to fundraising for No Kid Hungry. Worn intake valves, pitted camshafts, shock cooling, and AD compliance are on the docket. Email podcasts@aopa.org for a chance to get on the show. Join the world's largest aviation community at aopa.org/join Full notes below: Norm wonders whether condition-based maintenance and inspections failed him. He is co-owners in an airplane with a Lycoming IO-360, and after a few years they found a crack in the crankcase. The engine was torn down and found to have some rust on the cylinder walls, scoring on the crankshaft, and a worn and pitted lifter. They had been borescoping, doing oil analysis, looking at the filter, and never found any concerns. The hosts say the approach worked perfectly. The point of condition-based maintenance is to fix safety related problems, and they argue that all Norm's issues were financial issues. Mike argues that the lifter wear could have been found with by measuring the valve opening, but that it wouldn't have necessarily resulted in a teardown. The oil analysis wouldn't have found anything because the metal chunks were too large, and although a magnet over the filter material may have helped, he's not sure that would have resulted in a teardown either. The lesson is that the airplane was safe, despite the condition concerns. Jay has an RV with an experimental IO-540 that he loves. A look at the cylinder data found that one of his intake valves was eroding. As the shop dug into the engine they found a few other issues, including pitting on the camshaft. An IRAN is going to cost him maybe $20,000 or $30,000 less than an overhaul, so he's wondering if it's ok to save the money or should he just overhaul the engine while it's off. The hosts tell him to save his money. The only reason they would overhaul now is to increase the market value if he were planning on selling. Otherwise there's little benefit. Ronan wonders how to interpret the data on his friend's Piper Arrow as regards shock cooling. They often get the alerts on the Garmin engine analyzer, and they are wondering if there's anything they can do to avoid it. Paul jokes that he should just turn that feature off. Mike said the only time you have to worry about this is when the cylinders are at high temperature, such as cruise to chopping the power. But in a descent the cylinders are already cooling, so he's not worried about it. Bill is wondering if his club is documenting too much on AD compliance. The hosts give some detailed information on how they document ADs and why it matters. They tend to document everything in a large spreadsheet and note whether or not it applies. If it doesn't, they say so on the document and leave it for a future mechanic or owner. Doing so helps with hours of research, they say. They are also careful to document parts and accessories, especially those inside the engine, as you don't want to have to take the prop off to check a crankshaft serial number every year, for example.

You've taken lessons, watched hours of YouTube, and invested in the latest launch monitor - so why is your handicap barely moving? The golf industry has convinced you that the answer is always MORE: more technology, more stats, more swing thoughts. But according to JR Charles and Aron Schüler of ParOne, more is actually the problem. In this episode of The ModGolf Podcast, guest host Rich Katz uncovers how AVA Golf is flipping the script by turning your existing data (from Garmin, Arccos, and beyond) into a personalized prescription of video drills from Top 100 instructors. No more guesswork. No more generic fixes. Just a clear, sequential path to mastery. Tune in to discover why focusing on everything means fixing nothing, and how the right direction can finally unlock the golfer you know you can be. Key takeaways in this episode with JR and Aron that you will discover: The "Supply Constraint" in Golf Lessons: With 30,000 instructors serving 5 million golfers taking lessons (and a post-COVID boom), demand far exceeds supply. AVA Golf bridges this gap by scaling instructor-led advice via AI-driven video playlists, not replacing the pro, but making their expertise accessible 24/7. Your Game Becomes a Personalized Video Playlist: AVA Golf ingests data from your existing devices (like Arccos and Garmin launch monitors) and analyzes root causes. Instead of generic YouTube fixes, it serves a unique, sequential playlist of videos addressing your specific faults (e.g., fixing alignment vs. swing path for a slice). It Actually Works (Proof from the Engineer): Aron Schuler, the developer, is also the guinea pig. He dropped his handicap from a 28 to an 18 simply by using the platform he was building. This validates that removing the guesswork leads to tangible, measurable improvement. Three Quotable Moments from this episode: JR Charles on the problem with modern data: "I work in the golf industry and I work in game improvement. I don't know what half of these stats are. I have to Google them!" Aron Schuler on the mission of AVA Golf: "Most tools give you more data, but at AVA Golf, we're trying to give you direction. Ultimately, your game needs direction." JR Charles on focusing your practice: "Focus on the right things and not everything. Most wearables are a Pandora's box of useful data and confusing inaccuracies — but for serious athletes and gym enthusiasts, the real value lies in what actually influences your training and lifestyle. In this eye-opening episode, Jerred Moon and Dave break down their decades-long experience with wearables like Garmin, Whoop, and Apple Watch to reveal what truly works — and what's just noise. Jerred shares rare insights from testing over 31 different sources and reveals how even the most advanced tech can fall short of the accuracy of a simple chest strap. Dave discusses the essentials he's tracked for years, from daily steps and heart rate zones to long-term trends in resting heart rate, emphasizing how these basic metrics can drive real behavior change.Discover: The surprising benefits of low-tech features like a flashlight or vibration alarms that keep your life simple and effective Why most advanced recovery scores and proprietary algorithms can do more harm than good by encouraging unnecessary stress or over-optimization How the quest for perfect data can detour you from actual progress — and the moment to hit "pause" and focus on intuitive training Which metrics are objectively helpful, and which are just digital distraction Jerred's next evolution: turning Garmin into a "dumb watch" to reconnect with instinctive movement and breathe easier with tech boundaries Whether you're a seasoned athlete, a garage gym enthusiast, or someone curious about tech's role in health, this episode offers a balanced perspective: more data isn't always better. It's about understanding what matters, what influences your habits, and when to trust your own body over the latest gadgetry.Stay tuned for tips on how to use wearables without falling into the trap of over-optimization and learn how to leverage technology to support natural, sustainable fitness. This conversation is essential listening for anyone eager to cut through the noise and get back to real results — no fancy algorithms required.

Send us Fan MailYour phone shows sunshine, the clouds look wrong, and you're two days deep into the backcountry with no signal. Now imagine the one tool that could confirm what's coming next goes silent. That's the gut-level concern we dig into as we talk about Environment and Climate Change Canada winding down the weather radio network and pushing Canadians toward online updates like the WeatherCAN app and the ECCC website. We get specific about why weather radio has mattered for camping safety in Canada, not just as a nice-to-have, but as a battery-powered, over-the-air backup when cell towers fail, the internet drops, or the power goes out. We also unpack the bigger impact beyond recreation: rural, remote, and Indigenous communities can be left more vulnerable when essential alerts assume reliable connectivity. Even in urban areas near major water like Lake Ontario, we've leaned on weather radio during messy conditions and outages. Then we shift from rant to readiness. We share practical workarounds you can actually use: pre-trip planning with SpotWX using precise coordinates, building redundancy with satellite communicators like Garmin, caching offline radar and wind layers with the Windy app, and saving forecasts via screenshots or printouts before you lose service. We're honest about forecast limits after a few days and why learning basic “read the sky” skills is still part of being competent outdoors. If you care about backcountry preparedness, emergency weather alerts, and how public safety changes ripple into real trips, you'll want this one. What if your new patient visit didn't start with a 200-page ER record dump, scattered portal logins, and a patient saying "I think mom had some kind of cancer"? In this episode of My DPC Story, Dr. Maryal Concepcion sits down with Anna Smith, RN, MPH, CEO of Vivid Vault Health Solutions, to talk about a patient-owned, multi-generational health navigation platform built to strengthen the physician-patient relationship, not replace it.Anna shares her realization that healthcare collects massive amounts of data but rarely puts it in patients' hands in a way they can actually use. That moment became Vivid Vault, a bootstrapped, non-VC, non-PE-funded platform designed to help families consolidate records across generations so DPC physicians can finally practice with the comprehensive, portable patient story we've always needed. Big Trees MD is an early adopter, and Dr. Concepcion walks through exactly why.If you want to give your patients a comprehensive, portable, patient-owned record system without adding another six-figure EMR to your stack, book a leadership call at vividvaulthealth.org or email together@vividvaulthealth.org. Download the Vivid Vault app in the Apple Store starting April 22. If this episode moved you, leave a five-star review on Apple Podcasts. What You'll LearnWhy fragmented records cost DPC physicians time, accuracy, and patient retention. How Vivid Vault works as a health navigator, not a new EMR or added workflow. Why multi-generational, family-linked records matter, and how permissions, proxies, and minors are handled. How PROMIS assessments give physicians insight between visits. How wearable data (Apple Health, Oura, WHOOP, Garmin, Dexcom soon) is timestamped and clinically usable. Why patient-owned data is non-negotiable and what happens if a patient leaves your practice or the platform. How LLM-assisted review surfaces what matters in a 200-page ER packet without replacing clinical judgment. Why B2C with a DPC practice discount keeps the financial burden off clinics.About Our GuestAnna Smith, RN, MPH, is the CEO and founder of Vivid Vault Health Solutions, a Colorado-based, bootstrapped health navigation platform. The Truth About Fitness Trackers: How Accurate Are They Really? Episode Summary: Are your fitness tracker numbers actually telling you the truth… or just stressing you out? In this episode, we break down what your Apple Watch, Fitbit, Garmin, Oura, or other tracker is really measuring, how accurate that data is, and how to use it without becoming obsessed. You'll learn why fitness trackers are powerful *guides* but not perfect measurement tools, and how to focus on trends and habits instead of chasing “perfect” numbers. --- What You'll Learn In This Episode In this episode, we cover: - What fitness trackers are actually measuring (steps, heart rate, calories, sleep, “readiness” scores) - Where fitness trackers tend to be fairly accurate vs where they're often off - Why calorie burn and sleep stages should be treated as **estimates**, not exact data - The mindset shift from “my tracker is the boss” to “my tracker is a guide” - How to look at **trends over time** instead of obsessing over single-day numbers - Simple, flexible targets for steps, sleep, and workouts that work in real life - How to pair your tracker data with how your body actually feels - A simple 3-step framework to use your fitness tracker without letting it control you Key Takeaways - Fitness trackers are **not medical devices**. They're consumer tools that estimate your activity, sleep, and calories using sensors and algorithms. - Steps and general activity trends are usually more reliable than exact calorie counts or sleep stages. - Treat tracker data as a **guide and pattern finder**, not the final word on your health or your “worth” that day. - Focus on weekly and monthly patterns, not whether today's numbers are “perfect.” - Your body is the main source of truth. If your tracker and your body disagree, trust how you feel. - You are still “doing fitness” even if your tracker isn't on or you don't close every ring. How To Use Your Fitness Tracker In A Healthier Way Use this simple framework from the episode: 1. **Notice** - Let your tracker show you patterns in movement, sleep, and consistency. 2. **Adjust** - Make small, realistic changes based on trends, not one “good” or “bad” day. 3. **Let Go** - Let go of numbers that stress you out or don't match your lived experience. The goal is a sustainable healthy life, not a perfect score. If this episode helped you relax about your fitness tracker and see it as a tool instead of a judge: - Share it with a friend who checks their numbers a little too often - Follow/subscribe to Sisters-in-Service or the Why Not Wellness? podcasts so you don't miss future episodes

Check out the fuel tracking app here! FuelFlowRunning metrics, wearables, and training data get a reality check this week as Zoë and Kylee Van Horn cut through the noise of HRV scores, readiness ratings, and AI coaches to name the five numbers that actually move the needle in 2026. The episode opens with a familiar character: the athlete double-fisting a Whoop and a Garmin who hasn't strung four consistent weeks of training together in six months. From there, the conversation breaks down what makes a metric genuinely useful, is it actionable, is the signal strong enough to act on, can you verify the underlying measurement, and does it tell you something your body isn't already saying? Then comes the countdown of the five that earn a spot on your watch: rate of perceived exertion (the master metric), consecutive weeks of consistent training, your 14-day sleep average, your long run as a percentage of your 30-day max, and carbohydrate intake per hour on long runs. Along the way: why one bad night of sleep won't break you, the 2025 research linking a single oversized long run to a 128% jump in injury risk, and why most runners fuel with far fewer carbs than they think they do. Evidence-based, occasionally unhinged, and a genuinely useful nudge to audit what you're actually tracking. Questions or hot takes? microcosmcoaching@gmail.com

Man, I don’t know how else to say this — this one got me. I sat down with Christian Zeron, the guy behind the Theo N. Harris Instagram, and what started as a watch-world conversation turned into one of the most honest, wide-open talks about hunting, identity, manhood, and what it means to find something that actually moves you. That’s the kind of episode this is. Christian grew up in New Jersey selling vintage Rolexes in college and built a marketing company around it. He’s sharp, he’s articulate, and — up until about six months ago — he had zero connection to the hunting world. Then a client invited him on a hunt in Kentucky and, well, here we are. He killed his first turkey this spring, he’s already got hog hunts lined up in Texas and a dove trip to Argentina on the books, and the guy is all in. Completely, unapologetically, joyfully all in. What I love about Christian is that he brings this fresh set of eyes to our world. He’s not pretending to be someone he’s not. He’s a Ralph Lauren, vintage shotgun, lever-action rifle kind of guy who gets genuinely emotional talking about his late grandfather while butchering his first bird. That’s real. That’s the stuff hunting is actually made of, and it’s the stuff that’s really hard to explain to people who haven’t lived it. We go deep on the watch world and what Rolex figured out about aspiration and identity that most brands never do. We talk camo as identity, Sitka vs. First Lite, Yeti coolers, LVMH, Omega, Casio — and somehow it all connects back to hunting, brand building, and what it means to be a man who collects experiences instead of just stuff. Plus, we dig into what I’m trying to build with Bridger Watch and Christian gives me some real, unfiltered marketing advice on how to position it against Garmin and Apple. This is the kind of conversation that makes you want to call your old man, fire up a steak, and go outside. Strap in. Episode Sponsors onX Hunt If you’re serious about hunting out west, onX isn’t optional — it’s foundational. Hunting Connects You to Something Bigger Than the Kill Christian’s story about his late grandfather flooding back while he was butchering his first turkey is one of the most honest descriptions of why hunters hunt that I’ve heard in a long time. The harvest, the meat, the field dressing — it all becomes this vessel for memory and emotion and people you’ve lost. And it’s something you genuinely cannot explain to someone who hasn’t felt it. If you’ve ever felt your dad or your grandfather or someone you loved in a duck blind or a wall tent, you know exactly what Christian is talking about. That feeling doesn’t go away. It doesn’t get old. That’s why we keep going back. 2. Identity Is at the Core of Every Purchase Decision — Hunting Included Christian has been living inside luxury brand psychology for over a decade, and watching him apply that lens to the hunting world is genuinely eye-opening. Whether it’s Sitka gear, a Yeti cooler, or a vintage duck camo jacket — we are all making identity statements with every piece of kit we buy. And what’s fascinating is that hunters, who largely pride themselves on being no-nonsense, practical people, are actually some of the most identity-driven consumers out there. The trophy room, the curated camp setup, the brand of camo you wear — it all means something. Knowing that isn’t a bad thing. It’s human nature. 3. Lead With the Tool — Let the Lifestyle Follow Christian’s marketing insight for Bridger Watch — and honestly for any product in the outdoor space — is worth writing down. The temptation is to lead with the vibe, the lifestyle, the beautiful photos. But for a product that has genuine technical superiority in a specific use case, the smarter play is to lead with education and product proof first, and let the lifestyle layer build behind it. Rolex works because it’s 90% signal and 10% tool. A hunting watch should be the opposite: 90% tool, 10% signal. Prove what the product does for real people doing real things, and the identity follows naturally.

Because while data can absolutely help you make smarter health decisions… sometimes it can also turn your nervous system into a full-time project manager (and nobody wants THAT).FIND NAT BELOW:Website - https://nataliekdouglas.com/Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/natalie.k.douglasBook a Free Assessment Call - https://NatalieKDouglas.as.me/?appointmentType=50255874EndoNourish - Endometriosis and Adenomyosis Guide - https://nataliekdouglas.com/endonourish-holistic-endometriosis-adenomyoisis-care-guide/SacredSeeds - Preconception Care Guidehttps://nataliekdouglas.com/preconception-care-guide/PCOS Wellness Guidehttps://nataliekdouglas.com/pcos-holistic-guide/Thyroid Rescue - Self guided programhttps://nataliekdouglas.com/thyroid-rescue/Coming Off The Pill/IUD Holistic Guidehttps://nataliekdouglas.com/coming-off-the-pill-mini-course/PMS/PMDD Natural Solutons Masterclass https://nataliekdouglas.com/pms-pmdd-natural-solutions-masterclass/Restore and Nourish Gut Reset - https://nataliekdouglas.com/restore-nourish-gut-reset/Perimenopause Masterclass -https://nataliekdouglas.com/perimenopause-masterclass-holistic-toolkit/Become a one-to-one clienthttps://nataliekdouglas.com/1-1-naturopathic-nutrition-consultations/FIND AMIE BELOW:Book a Free Assessment Call: https://p.bttr.to/3yBdmu3   Book Yourself In: https://l.bttr.to/ZDxWOWebsite - https://whatthenaturopathsaid.com   Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/thatnaturopathJoin the mailing list - https://elysium-clinic-of-natural-medicine.ck.page/69663ce14a  PS: yes we are practitioners, but we're not YOUR practitioners - it should go without saying but our episodes are not medical advice.

On this week's episode of The MacRumors Show, we discuss Google's latest wave of announcements for Android and Gemini, the newly announced Fitbit Air, and Apple Watch Series 12 rumors. The centerpiece of Google's announcements this week was Gemini Intelligence, Google's new umbrella platform for AI across phones, watches, cars, and laptops. Its headline capability is cross-app automation: users can photograph an event flyer and ask Gemini to find tickets on Expedia, or pull up a grocery list and have it build a cart in a shopping app. A companion feature called Create My Widget lets users describe a home screen widget in natural language and have Gemini generate it, drawing from Gmail and Calendar to build a personalized dashboard.Google also unveiled the Googlebook, a new laptop category designed from the ground up around Gemini with partners including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo arriving this fall. Gemini in Chrome for Android gained an agentic browsing layer rolling out end of June, and Android Auto received AI-generated contextual replies and DoorDash voice ordering. A Meta partnership brings Ultra HDR, native stabilization, and night mode to Instagram on Android flagship devices. In January, Apple and Google announced a partnership under which Gemini would power the next generation of Apple Foundation Models, including a more personalized Siri expected this year. Apple's equivalent cross-app ‌Siri‌ actions were announced at WWDC 2024 but have not yet shipped; Gemini Intelligence is rolling out this summer using the same underlying technology.Google also unveiled the Fitbit Air this week, a screenless fitness tracker priced at $99 that ships on May 26. The device weighs just 12 grams with the band and tracks heart rate, AFib, HRV, SpO2, and sleep stages in a pill-shaped pebble with no display, no buttons, and no notifications. Battery life lasts for seven days, with a five-minute fast charge delivering a full day of use. A Stephen Curry Special Edition is priced at $129, with core tracking free and Google Health Premium adding an AI Coach for $9.99 per month after a three-month trial. The launch accompanies a broader rebrand. The Fitbit app becomes Google Health on May 19, with Google Fit folded in, Apple Health data supported on iOS, and APIs for Garmin, Whoop, and Oura. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported earlier this year that Apple has scaled back a comparable Health+ coaching service, with the feature now unlikely to launch. The Apple Watch SE starts at $249 and requires daily charging, and the Fitbit Air's $99 price with no mandatory subscription addresses a segment Apple does not cover. We also discuss the Apple Watch Series 12, which is shaping up to be an incremental upgrade. Bloomberg's Mark Gurmansaid in March that he does not expect any major design changes, and a significant redesign is now not expected until 2028.The leaker known as Instant Digital said this week that Touch ID, which appeared in leaked Apple code last year, has been deprioritized in favor of battery life improvements. DigiTimes previously reported an eight-sensor array on the back of at least one 2026 model, though blood pressure monitoring is said to be further out. A new chip is expected, with leaked code indicating a meaningful upgrade from the S10 used across the last three series, and watchOS 27 will be previewed at WWDC on June 8. Start your business with Shopify and get everything you need to sell online and in person. Send us Fan MailThis week on Teachers in Transition, Vanessa Jackson explores the warning signs teachers learn to ignore — in our bodies, our stress levels, and our careers. What started as a routine dental cleaning turned into an unexpected root canal… and a much bigger realization about burnout, chronic stress, and how educators become experts at functioning while damaged. Vanessa shares the surprising moment her Garmin stress watch revealed that her body had been “keeping score” long before she consciously realized something was wrong. Then in the Career Transition & Job Search segment, Vanessa tackles a major modern job-search question:Do resumes still matter in the age of AI?Short answer: Yes.  But differently. In this episode:Why resumes still matter in an AI-driven job market How Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) filter resumes Why tailoring your resume matters more than ever How to use AI strategically without sounding fake Why LinkedIn is better for networking than passive “Easy Apply” applications The powerful framework: “The job description is the question. Your resume is the answer.” This episode is part burnout conversation, part career strategy session, and part reminder that functioning is not the same thing as fine.Mentioned in This EpisodeTeachers in Transition Schedule a Discovery Call Find Your Bearings  Helpful Prompt: “Use this job description and tailor my master resume to meet this job description. Do not exaggerate my experience. Do not invent skills I don't possess. “I just had to always remind myself: be yourself, put in the work, stay present, and trust that it gets better as you go.”My guest for today's episode is Sharon Lokedi: the back-to-back Boston Marathon champion. Last month, she became only the second athlete since 1994 to win Boston in consecutive years, crossing the finish line in 2:18:51 for her second straight crown. The way she won it was extraordinary: she sat patiently through a 19-woman lead pack, waited until the hills, and then between 35K and 40K ran a 14:48 5K split — faster than the NCAA outdoor 5K record set on the track just two days earlier. She won by 44 seconds.Sharon won New York in 2022, finished 4th at the 2024 Paris Olympics, won Boston in 2025, and again in 2026. She has become one of the most complete competitors in the women's marathon — someone who doesn't need the fastest time on paper to believe she can beat anyone in the field on race day. She also ran the entire race on a borrowed Garmin because she left her own watch at the hotel and only realized it on the bus ride to Hopkinton. In this conversation, Sharon walks through the build, the pressure of returning as defending champion, and how she managed the expectation while staying grounded. She takes us inside the race itself: covering early moves, reading the hills, using the lead car as her focal point during that extraordinary 35-40K surge, and the moment she finally let herself enjoy it on Boylston Street. We also get into what it means to her to inspire other women and how she got to throw out the first pitch at Fenway Park.____________Host: Chris Chavez | @chris_j_chavezGuest: Sharon Lokedi | @shazrineProduced by: Jasmine Fehr | @jasminefehr____________SUPPORT OUR SPONSORSXENDURANCE: When you finish a hard workout, the work isn't actually done. The System That Beats Burnout in Your Personal Life (It's Not MORE Action) featuring Marc Hildebrand

In this episode, Larry and coach Marc sit down to talk about one of the most common and least-talked-about crises facing business owner dads — burnout. Not the dramatic kind. The quiet, grinding, everyday kind where you're doing 14-hour days, drinking to decompress, wearing exhaustion like a badge of honor, and slowly losing the very people you're killing yourself to provide for. Featuring recorded clips from John — a real Boardroom member who came in on the brink of burnout — this episode is one of the most emotionally honest conversations we've had on this show. John's story will hit close to home for a lot of men. Working obsessively, drinking daily to escape, knowing something was wrong but believing the only answer was more action. His wife was losing her patience. He was losing himself. And then he stopped lone-wolfing it. Larry shares his own raw moment — telling his wife that if he's not providing, he doesn't know what value he brings to the family — and what his kids said when he and his wife actually asked them what they wanted most. Marc breaks down the BRAVE Man system, the tracker, and why busyness is not the same as results. And the episode closes with John getting so emotional he can't speak — and the silence that says everything.   Timeline Summary [0:00] Introduction to the Dad Edge mission and the movement to raise leaders of families and communities [1:02] The burnout that business owner dads don't talk about — grinding for your family while quietly losing them [2:44] Leaders usually starve — because they pour everything into everyone else but themselves [4:15] Introducing Marc Hildebrand — and what today's episode is really about [5:52] How Marc met John — on the brink of burnout, drinking daily, running 14-16 hour days [7:35] The shift Marc saw by weeks four and five — doing less, but achieving more [9:11] The GPS analogy — what life feels like without a system versus with one [10:37] Why we resist new tools even when they could save us — and the old-timer cops who threw out the Garmin [12:12] Wearing burnout as a badge of honor — and the people who love you who see it from a mile away [13:29] Your kids ask "Dad, are you okay?" and you think nobody noticed [14:45] John's first clip: what life looked like before he applied — work first, drinking to escape, lone-wolfing it [17:36] The heart behind the burnout — doing it all for your family, but missing what they actually need [19:20] What Marc saw in John — a man believing there was only one way to succeed [20:10] Larry's vulnerable moment: "If I'm not providing, what value do I bring this family?" [22:10] His kids' answer when asked what they wanted most — more time, not more money [22:29] The 13 Hours scene — a Navy SEAL on his 12th deployment finally hearing "the kids don't need more money, they need you" [24:37] Why being willing to have the vulnerable conversation is the game changer [25:10] John's second clip: getting a map, small goals, and what changed in his marriage [27:25] Breaking down the BRAVE Man system — Bond, Raise, Amplify, Vitality, Enjoy, Movement, Action, Network [28:04] Why joy is a tactical requirement — if you have no joy to give, you have nothing to give [28:50] Why motivation is a lie — and why action creates motivation, not the other way around [29:13] John's transformation from 15 points a week to 40-50 — and what the tracker actually measures [31:57] Busyness does not equal results — the most dangerous trap for burned-out business owners [32:18] John's final clip — the emotional moment that stopped everyone cold [35:28] What that moment meant — a man who saved his marriage and came back to himself [37:52] What it means to have a battle to fight, a beauty to love, and an adventure to be had — together [39:05] The call to every business owner who sees a piece of John in himself   Five Key Takeaways Burnout doesn't always look dramatic. It looks like 14-hour days, drinking to unwind, and quietly drifting away from the people you're working so hard to provide for. The people who love you most can see your burnout from a mile away — even when you think you're hiding it. Your kids see it. Your wife feels it. Your family doesn't want more money. They want more of you. When Larry asked his boys, the answer was time — every single time. The answer to burnout is not more action. It's better action, in the right areas, with a system that tells you what actually moves the needle. You are not a liability because you need help. John thought he had nothing to give when he walked in — and became one of the most valuable men in the room.   Links & Resources Dad Edge Alliance & Business Boardroom: https://thedadedge.com/mastermind The Men's Forge: https://themensforge.com Episode Link & Resources (Episode 1468): https://thedadedge.com/1468   Closing If there's one message from this episode that stands out, it's this: the answer to burnout is never more action — it's a better system, a map, and men around you who won't let you disappear. John came in wearing his exhaustion like a badge, drinking every day to survive it, and believing the only way through was to grind harder. Six weeks later, he was lighter. His marriage was coming back. And when Larry asked him what it felt like to make his way back — he couldn't speak. That silence said everything. If there's a piece of John in you right now, this is your move. Go out and live legendary.
